  1. Was any of the above any good to you Kevin, and are you going with this or not?
  2. Hello Liz, Welcome from the U.K, and sorry to hear of your issue. We take it this has automatic transmission -? Oil dripping from from front? or rear? would be useful to know, with front being potentially the worse situation. Re costings - sounds about what would be expected, but you would need to confirm this includes? a gearbox oil change service, which in itself is quite expensive. Perhaps you would fill in a little more detail. Oh - severity of oil leak as is at the moment ? Is it ‘just keep an eye on it’ , or is it such that it must be done now? Kind regards, Gareth.
  3. Hello Azharul, Giving direct contact details of forum members on an open forum must obviously be discouraged. You can contact Mark via. the message system on here.
  4. Thanks Harry, Worth a topic search under ‘ Multiple warning lights’ or similar. First thing to check would be the battery efficiency - Halfords should be able to do that for you. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Thanks Philip, Incase it might help others, who are your insurers? Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Great, thanks Mike, Seems a nice buy for someone. Good luck in finding them an appreciative home. Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. You’ve forgotten to list your asking price Mike, so could you please add that important detail. Please save yourself and forum members from being messed around by not adding ‘Offers’. Many thanks and kind regards, Gareth.
  8. Hello Dave, Thanks for all the photos Unfortunately the link doesn’t work for me, so could you state the the description on here together with the selling price please. Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Thanks Harry, Have you searched various threads where multiple warnings show up? Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. So what is your asking price Andrew??
  11. Just had a look on EBay for you - Quantum 5w/30 Longlife 3 from CE Automotive is £35.75. Think I got my last lot from them, but no connection. Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. Hello Mathew, Thanks for joining. I just wonder if this car has been subject to the emissions scandal recalls - have a look at numerous posts under such topics. If this were mine, I would be reading these posts and doing some thorough homework on what these 4 recalls are, before allowing them to be carried out. Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Hello Kevin, Thanks for joining, and welcome. Re. engine oil:- I can only go by personal experience with our 173k humble 1.6 petrol - still using the recommended 5w/30 and have always used Quantum Longlife since it came out of Audi dealer servicing. As I understand it, Quantum ( believed to be a subsidiary of Castrol) has been/still is? VAG recommended brand. I don’t see any reason to change brands and certainly not grade. With ours, the oil gets changed annually ( annual mileage now c7K) together with a Bosch, Mann, Hengst oil filter ( I won’t use filters from a certain three letter factors). Air filter and pollen filter gets changed every other year - that’s my routine. Quantum Longlife 5w/30 is available from a number of EBay sellers. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. Hello Paul, Certainly odd, since any leak - external water pump, external gasket leaks, or internal leaks into cylinders , would result in a loss of pressure over a 20 minute hold. Having said that, it might be worth checking the water pump for shaft leakage after 30K miles of service before moving on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Thanks Adam, yes I understand, but well worth eliminating. I would also get the alternator output checked at the same time. Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. Great! Knowledge of that could have saved me bothering.
  17. Hello Adam, Having the battery efficiency checked would be my first port of call. Kind regards, Gareth.
  18. Heel Paul, ‘Alternator seems to be fine’. Have you actually had its output checked? Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. Hello Azharul, I wouldn’t assume anything. You could find it isn’t the battery after you have unnecessarily spent money. I would simply get it tested and depend on the result to inform you it is/isn’t serviceable. Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Hello Paul, Sorry to hear of your issue. Dropping an inch in the reservoir in 100 miles is quite significant. Simple things first - try fitting a new ( quality) cap to the reservoir. Kind regards, Gareth.
  21. Don’t know Stewart, but I’m from the logical school of cheaply/without any cost, eliminating known issue points first, before over cooking it with complexities. Just give it a coat of looking at. Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Can’t/ don’t want to download your link. Alternator output checked? I wouldn’t have thought an ABS fault would knock off the Stop/start, but I guess stranger bits of Audi logic have occurred. Your car is probably too old to have the additional ‘small battery’ as well as the main battery -? Kind regards, Gareth.
  23. Hello Stewart, Reference to tailgate is interesting. One potential trouble site to eliminate before getting into too many complexities :- Check the wiring within the flexible harness section twixt tailgate and body - pull the harness cover back and look for fractured or broken wires. Favourite place for wires to fracture due to years of opening and closing the tailgate. Might be fine, but at least it will eliminate that possibility. Kind regards, Gareth.
  24. Hello Russell, Tried EBay, on-line car breaker websites such as Partsfinder etc? Kind regards, Gareth.
  25. Thanks Paul, Even if it does turn out to be sub-standard, then it should be under warranty. If it’s serviceable then obviously you have at least eliminated it. What make is the battery by the way? Worth getting Halfords to do an alternator test at the same time. Kind regards, Gareth.
