Hello Henry, I guess you have checked the on-line MOT history. Also worth checking - in my book- is how long the previous owner has owned it. Short ownership is often not a good sign. Have you actually seen a print out of the service history? Albeit an S8, I’m surprised a main dealer is retailing a 9 year old car. What warranty are you getting with the car? Kind regards, Gareth.

Dating letter/certificate for A3 - year 2009
Magnet replied to Easy Choice Cars's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Thanks Michael, Sounds good, but I thought you said in your opening post, that they couldn’t help you. Kind regards, Gareth.m -
Why ECP Tony? Have you tried Car Parts in Motion - often cheaper and a good service. Kind regards, Gareth.

What did you check the battery with Dave? With the engine running you should get >14 v. Sounds like you need to investigate alternator issue. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Thanks Daniel, The rear ‘senders’ - as opposed to the external electrical sensor - is built into the hub on our 2006 A3. This sender became weak some years back and necessitated a new hub ( the bearing was fine). Same set up on yours? Kind regards, Gareth.

Sounds good Adrian. I’m sure you will enjoy it. Perhaps you could keep us posted with your overall views. Kind regards, Gareth.

Thanks Adrian, Putting it into Sports mode holds it in a lower gear for longer before changing up. Effect of Sports mode from standstill?? Kind regards, Gareth.

Sorry to hear that Mark. What make replacement clutch are you considering? Kind regards, Gareth.

Is it the last Audi A3 1.9 tdi quattro 2002 left?
Magnet replied to Kjanderson's topic in Audi A3 (8L) Forum
Hello Keith, This ‘How many left’ website is only as good as the information passed to it - as in your case, where you are not sure whether you Sorned it or not. Again vehicle descriptions and model variants categories can be misleading. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Are you saying you now want to sell the car? If so, you are very welcome to post full details and photos on this site, together with the price you want for it. Interested parties can contact you via. PMs, so no need to put your contact details on this open forum. -
Hello Adrian, As I understand it, if you did buy it, and they can’t correct the ‘fault’, then you could reject the vehicle. However, it might well be brought to your attention that you were aware of this issue with the car during a test drive, yet when ahead and ordered one (when incidentally?) in knowledge of this ‘characteristic’. Rejecting a vehicle once bought is hassle, but doable. You did mention ‘tuning’ in your opening post, but beware that any degree of tuning is likely to adversely affect your warranty, so if it were mine, I wouldn’t be considering going down that road. Final point - Your actual ordered car may or may not perform the same as the demonstrator, but will the dealer be prepared to allow you to test it before signing?? Sorry to put all the negatives your way, but I would have thought they would now be/have already? registered this vehicle to your ownership, so I would have thought that if you are having any reservations, then you have a very short window to do something about alerting them to that fact. Good luck with whatever you decide Adrian. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. I again stress that I may be wrong about this ‘characteristic’ with your particular engine/ model.

Hello Mikey, Thanks for joining the forum. I’m just a bit puzzled by the meaning of your post. Could you explain the point of it please. Kind regards, Gareth.

Let’s hope it turns out to be something simple for you Mark. Good luck and kind regards, Gareth.

Thanks Gary, Stating the obvious, 30 profile ( albeit on wide tyres) doesn’t give you much rubber twixt road and wheel. Considering XL maybe an alternative consideration, but they are likely to increase still further, the characteristically harsh ride associated with this model. Kind regards, Gareth.

Thanks Adrian, This delay in acceleration maybe an issue with whatever model this engine was fitted to - rather than just the Q5. I’ve had a quick search on here, and similar issues have been reported over the last couple of years. Possibility of some vehicles being rejected due to no-fix, or unacceptable delay in rectifying. As with all forums, final outcomes are not always (usually not ) reported. Let’s hope that other forum members will respond with their experiences and greater knowledge. Meanwhile, all I can suggest is to keep searching and reading. I hope I’m not barking up wrong trees and causing you undue concern. Kind regards, Gareth.

Very good question Stephen. Regrettably, our homeland original poster, hasn’t returned to the forum since the day he first joined. Will we ever know? Kind regards, Gareth.

Hello Gary, Would I be right in thinking the tyres are fairly low profile. If so, the problem could be inherent to the amount of shock-absorbing rubber between pot hole and road, rather than tyre ‘softness/hardness’. Are the current tyres XL, or even run-flat? If so, then obviously their ability to absorb shock should already be enhanced. If not, is it worth investigating the pros and cons of XL? Alternative makes? You mention Dunlop. Um! Was this the brand that was/still is? giving horrendous sidewall splitting issues on low profile tyres? I could be wrong, but worth doing a forum search. Kind regards, Gareth.

Hello Adrian, I think you will find that VAG - like many other marques - have been fitting plastic clad seat backs for ages. Our 17 year old A3 has them. Removing the plastic is not an option, unless you prefer to see the un-upholstered seat frame. ‘Sticking something over the plastic’? I certainly don’t know of anything, but others may -? Slow response time:- I’m I right in recalling this has been a ‘known fault’ with this engine, and has been subject to discussions before on this forum? I’m sure others who are more familiar with this will be able to point you towards the background. Kind regards, Gareth.

Hello Mark, Sorry to hear of your issue. For me, the part I don’t like is that the noise disappears when the clutch is depressed. I hope your concern about DMF turns out not to be founded, but……. I really think you need to get this inspected without delay, before whatever is rattling decides to move house! Perhaps you would let us know how you get on Mark. Kind regards, Gareth.

Many thanks Thomas, Kind regards, Gareth.

3.0tdi meteor grey LZ7H front passenger wing replacement
Magnet replied to Jordanharries23's topic in Audi A4 (B8) Forum
Thanks Jordon, To save us suggesting avenues you’ve already been down , where have you tried so far? Kind regards, Gareth. -
Thanks Thomas, Would you be kind enough to list your prices for these items, rather than ‘offers’. ‘Offers’ can result in time wasting for buyers, and yourself as the seller. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Thanks Paul, As Cliff says - if you can’t inspect it, then at least arrange with the seller to get it inspected at a London independent, and send you photos of the issue/s and a brief report of their recommendation. Other than that, you are effectively buying blind. Have you actually seen the car of late? Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Have you checked the system for leaks, since the code points to that? Pump overheat is probably as a result of it running constantly to try to ‘satisfy’ the leak. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Would you be kind enough to complete your profile.
-
Hello Paul, When was the last MOT carried out? I don’t see much mileage in trying to see what anyone on the forum would do Paul, since no one has access to inspecting the severity of the issue. If I were in your situation, I would be asking the owner ( how long have they owned it by the way?) if they would run it down to your local trusted garage - by prior arrangement - and ask the garage if they would allow them to show you the extent of the issue and to advise you accordingly. That small expenditure should stand you in good stead. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
