  1. No it is not good. The battery will have been damaged by being fully discharged and it will let you down again. As Gareth said, it's time for a new battery.
  2. Perhaps the family member who fitted the dash cam has disconnected the compass. Have you asked him?
  3. Ah, I thought it was the new clutch that failed.
  4. Extended warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. That applies to all brands of car and all dealers, new or secondhand. They invariably exclude anything you might reasonably want to claim on.
  5. Thanks Brian. Given the number of blocked heaters being reported here recently your videos should be useful to many folk.
  6. So the new clutch only lasted five weeks? I have to wonder if it was the leaking oil that wrecked it or the soaking in Coke. Are you aware that Coke contains phosphoric acid? Personnally I would not be putting highly stressed components in an acid bath.
  7. Good point Gareth, and at less than a pound per fob battery that is the first thing I would do. That's why I asked Smaira if the metal key inserted in the lock barrel works, because that would eliminate any electronics from the problem. We have not had that clarification yet.
  8. The sound of a relay and the dip in engine speed points to a faulty seat motor. A computer diagnosis should confirm.
  9. I understand that the engine does not turn over, but are there are no ignition or other lights on the panel?
  10. I am not clear if it is just the remote operation of the key that is faulty or if the metal key also does not operate the locks. Assuming you can get into the car, what happens when you switch the ignition on?
  11. Edward. I have just noticed you are in the USA where the legal situation will be rather different to Britain. Neverthless I doubt that the onus is on you to diagnose defects in a new car. If the car is defective there must surely be a way for you to reject it.
  12. You are legally entitled to reject defective goods so take it back to the dealer and demand a refund.
  13. Well Mohame, was the advice you asked for of any use?
  14. Rob, sorry I got your name wrong. I was thinking of another member at the time of writing.
  15. Thanks for letting us know.
  16. An internet search for "EPC fault" showed me several possibilities that would be worth investigating, though I must add that I have no direct experience of it myself.
  17. David. Did you investigate this matter any further? An update would be appreciated.
  18. Tom. 110 psi seems a bit low for a modern engine, so I think it likely your valve stems are bent. The only way to be certain is to remove the heads and valves, then roll the stems on a flat surface. Any bend will be immediately obvious. An increase in compression after putting some oil in the bore usually indicates a busted ring, so your problems may be worse than you think.
  19. Tom. That's logical nonsense. If there is nothing wrong with the car it must start, therefore there must be something wrong. Diagnosing unexplained electrical faults should always start with the battery. Without a decent battery no amount of testing will get you anywhere, so please tell us how old the battery is. Bear in mind that a dying battery may be able to crank the engine, yet be unable to supply stable enough power for the car's electronics to work.
  20. The process on my wife's Skoda is: - press the LOCK button, all doors and boot lock, - press the UNLOCK button once, only the driver's door unlocks, - press the UNLOCK button twice, all doors and boot unlock, -press the BOOT button, only the boot unlocks. It relocks itself on closure.
  21. Regarding the passenger door lock: it is common in some VAG models for that door and the boot to require a double press of the key fob. It's a security feature to prevent unwanted strangers jumping into the car.
  22. Trevor. I have merged your duplicate topics into one. Please don't create duplicates, it will not gain you any more attention.
  23. The wiring damage may not be visible externally. You could have: a break in a conductor inside intact insulation, a poor contact in one of the connectors, a short circuit inside one the components, or possibly other faults I have not thought of.
