As you mentioned earlier, you've got aftermarket radio installed, would suggest disconnect radio first, open glow box and remove rear parcel shelve , in order to see lights. After that lock the car, and come back in 10 min, check all lights are off, as car should go sleep after it's locked, and all lights should be off after 10 min. If car goes sleep, and disconnected radio not helping with battery drainage, the worth to get to car electrician, as there is way to find out which system draws electricity after car goes sleep.

Maybe worth disconnect egr cooler from cooling system, with adapter connect straight to heater matrix, block with blank egr pipe at exhaust (and probably at egr itself also blank vacuum line with bolt) (I have removed whole system altogether), and drive that way to see if you are loosing coolant. ... There will be warning light check engine due egr malfunction (possible code out of ECU), main thing is to find out would loose coolant after disconnected egr cooling system.

More likely steering angle sensor. Sometimes happens if car disconnected from battery for longer time period. I have vcds diagnostics, but couldn't adapt with it (or didn't know how to do it 🙈), but manual adapt did work. If you Google for Audi steering wheel adaptation, it should give exact procedure, as I remember , with straight wheels start engine, then do full lock to right and then to left(each side hold for 5 seconds), then get straight again , then drive for 20 meters, stop, do again full lock right to left(each side hold for 5 seconds), get wheels straight again, than switch off ignition for 20 seconds, start car again... If that sign haven't gone, have to repeat procedure... It took me like 5 times to do it, until steering angle sensor got adapted. Of course if sensor is in good condition, and other steering sensors are in good conditions. I had to do it after I was doing some repairs, and car was disconnected for over the month. Hope that helps.

Hi Folks. I've replaced concert 2 non Bose factory head unit (Audi A3, bkd, 2008) with after market unit pioneer sph-da230dab, got also full wiring kit with steering controll (which I don't have yet) adapter with can bus wiring integrated. Seems to be working fine, just wondering is there a way to display radio info on dashboard ? Or top line will remain blank from now ? Thanks

Handy site wheelfitment dot EU. Can find a lot of car wheel sizes, cross references.

Hi folks. My 2008 Audi, A3, hatchback (3 door version body), eventually speakers degraded, and I am researching for replacement or upgrade . I believe I have concert 2 sound system with standard speaker system. (Not a fancy bosse or Olufsen). Any advice what speakers would be suitable for my car. Thanks.

When breaking should there be wobble In steering wheel
Mar4ix replied to Wolly's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Isn't abs system supposed do opposite, make car controllable in harsh braking conditions? Sometimes abs kicks in when caliper is quiet seized, and slight touch to brake, system reads from abs sensor that wheel is stalled, triggers abs, even if there is no needed. -

Warped brake discs are only a symptom. Real question is - why them got warped, as brake discs not designed to get warped and it's only a symptom of some fault From my experience of work across range of cars (not posing myself as professional mechanic, only diy-er over 15 years of experience ) , real reason why discs ar getting warped, is faulty or incorrectly working brake caliper: - Stuck caliper guides -brake caliper piston got stuck (due rust or dirt under rubber sleeve) - very rear occasions (in 15 years came across only once) wrongly installed bearing, believe or not, but it happend.... after replacing wheel bearing new brake discs, new/ reconditioned caliper , bleed brake system, it stopped destroy brake discs. What are consequences of getting faulty caliper... - warped brake discs, causing vibration while braking and (sometimes) driving. - car getting severely pulled to one side when braking, in very bad cases, it pulls to one side all the time. - if driving longer period in that condition, it speeds up destroy bushings and joints. - overheat the hub, cause wheel bearing grease leak, destroys wheel bearing with continuous consequences. Sorry, about long text, I felt should share my experience and knowledge, might help others. I do feel open of criticism and if someone want add on something, feel free to add. Thanks. -

Why I ask about check engine light, as it is directly connected to ECU, if it is not illuminated, that mean car is not controlled by ECU , and won't fire up, as ECU have no power. Disconnect amplifier. Replace fuse , see if it is solution.

When switch on ignition (but not start) , does check engine sign gets illuminated? Do you see check engine symbol?

Ok. Found problem. That wire before cluster was fixed many years ago by myself, used wrong wire, it corroded through... So just get fix that wire and I'm sorted.... Thanks God nothing more serious 👏
-
Sorry, that's number 5 , blue with red wire
-
Ok. 12 volts comes to switch on black with violet line colour wire, when I join the wires on switch, light not comes up. Second wire is blue. That means that blue wire is broken somewhere ... On the way to cluster... Will do test wire to the back.
-
So just found that white wire, number 4, is power feed for reverse light.
-
So, no power comes up. Any idea which wire is for reverse ?? Only 0.06 v on ignition on and in reverse and off reverse.
-
Thanks. I will check that.. wouldn't whole cluster have that problem.? 🤔

Hi folks, on my 3 door Audi A3 , 2008 , I've got that mystery with reverse light... It's gone... It comes as warning once switch on ignition. Light bulb 100% correct and working condition. Connector off revers switch removed and joined wires in connector with bridge, when ignition on, no light comes up. Searched in internet, couldn't found definitive answer, anyone have gone through this and may suggest where to find possible fault? Many thanks in advance. Regards

Hi Gareth. I had a look on eBay , and I wouldn't say them mad crazy expensive... One I had a look, was something 40 GBP delivered... Wouldn't considering use second hand door lock, as it probably won't last long... Sometimes could be lucky... But by my experience... Not .. had Passat before, couple times changed door locks with used ones, didn't las more than couple months... (Typical problem with microswitches).. tried fix myself... But never worked out right... After bought brand new locks, problems were solved.. Car just passed test (MOT), just didn't lock the car , left it unlocked , tester didn't notice that lock won't unlock , but still I'd love to get it fixed, as some times very inconvenient get open door from inside , driver side, once door is opened, if not locked, door lock operates normal .

Hi. Actually problem is with passenger door lock motor. 99% I'm alone in car in last 8years I own the car, going to work and back home. Very seldom opening passenger door . I'm more often opening boot than passenger door 😁 But thanks for advise. 👍

Hi guys , I have Audi A3 , 2008, 2.0 TDI. , with 3 door... 8P1 model. My passenger door lock actuator not really working as should.. started intermittently do not unlock, but now impossible unlock, just pull lever from inside to get open. Would it be same door lock as from 5 door car?
-
Hi folks, I have 3 door Audi A3 , 2008, bkd diesel engine, with 6 speed manual box. Lately I've found out that after unlocking car, front passenger door wouldn't unlock (but still can hear motor sound in lock), first few months that was intermittent, now it's getting permanent problem, and to get it open, I have to open door from inside. Would it be lock itself problem ? Or seized mechanisms in-between ? Maybe someone would have part number of that lock? Thanks.

Hi folks, just an update on this. The other day ive removed my front brake disks, and discovered that my left side brake disc have a crack , tiny black line acros friction surface, first i thought thats a dirt, tried wash it off, but it didnt go away, and it did look like crack... also my front left side hub was getting overheating thats why i removed brake disks, as it was getting worse to drive on motorway, as i could feel bad vibration... assumed front discs were warped... i had no really much choice , rang local motorfactors, and them suplied with Apec front disks and pads of same make, now driving couple days, no problem what so ever. . and braking performance is very good id say... strangely enough , as brake disks wasnt worn that bad, just tiny lip , also caliper pin guides was not seized or anything, was well functioning. while I was at the calipers, ive reconditioned them, as ive had recon kits, which i bought around half year ago, as i had in my mind, that front brake calipers will have to be reconditioned. Picture attached

Thanks for your answer. I was thinking same, brakes are brakes, and well know , good reputable name to use. Kind of not in position test unknown brand... might it good , and no problem with it, maybe leave for youtube/instagram vlogers to test. .. I consider go known brand... Mintex, Bosh or Brembo . .. website where I am usually buying parts ( shop located in germany) offers number brake disks , bit confusing ... as there thickness and diameter are number variations for my car, is there find out right part numbers for my car ? factory s-line, 2008 audi a3, 2.0 16v tdi (pd engine) . thanks.

Good work. Went through your issues. Not only Audi, but the whole Vag group of cars suffers from bad/broken wires in door rubber gators. If on these cars door electrics start play their own life(also speakers may be affected), first thing is pull off wiring, check for wire damage.. I had number vag cars, all them had door wiring issues. Regarding your rear wiper, before you replace it, get checked if any power comes to plug. Could be broken wire in back door rubber gator. About fan motor, check outside if plastic tray under windscreen (with holes for front wipers) is fit tight in windscreen plastic groove... If it not clicked in, water drips on to fan motor.. On my audi also first it stopped, I've gave a good wd40 spray, and worked for few months, didn't had chance fix that plastic, and from water that motor died.. Then I bought second hand one, replaced, and spend half of day to clean that groove, as it was full of dirt from long time, after I've click that plastic in groove, now everything is fine. You've got lovely motor their, now I wish I had automatic one... If you get picture of big sticker wich is in boot where spare wheel is, we can figure out what engine you've got. Ta
