  1. marvinb 1 Posted 19 hours ago Hi all, im in the process of repairing a 56 plate S line A3 2.0 tdi auto.. In its accident some wires were severed NSF corner, which i have repaired and am 100 confident of their continuity. Before refitting all of front end with rad pack etc i though i had better make sure engine starts, it won't.. There is no power being sent to starter solenoid.. Instruments and fuel pump etc all seem to work ok. Ross tec diagnostic program just says no communication to transmission and start up prevented by immobiliser. No comms with ecu or tcu, similar readings on snap on solus too. Both pairs of can wires from that corner have continuity back to gateway, ( i swapped gateway, just in case. Car has, been off road for about 5 years, now wondering if there is an immobiliser or synchronisation issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  3. Hi guys, I need a little advice here. Apart from the PD engine itself, what other components are common to Quattro and 2wd A4? Since the quattro was rolled on the car trailer we've bought a nice S Line estate, and quattro is sitting looking sorry for itself on the drive and needs to go so will strip it for spares and get rid of anything that's not going to be of use as spares. Also I've not had time to look, but would it be easy to unbolt subframes and running gear, then lift body off?
  4. Thanks Trevor will set about that soon.
  5. Aha thanks for that Trevor. Coolant sensor hasn't been suggested to me before. What's best way to check it. It'll be a cheap part though so could just swap it. Look into in is it easily accessed? Glow plugs all seem OK , tested all 4, and they appear to work when they should, relay fuse etc. I did disconnect MAF sensor one morning, started fine and did so consistently for 5 days, plugging it back in after start up. However, fitted new one and now back to long cranking again, connected or not, so was just coincidence. Also checked fuel delivery, pump appears to prime and pump as it should, I disconnected from filter housing to try it.
  6. Hi all Thank you for adding me. Believe it is not I would have joined anyway, but not yet as we're In the middle of renovation our house , currently skeleton electrics, no central heating and needs replumbing. ( we have submitted planning applications to build a garage 15m x 7m though, priorities) . We bought the audi as a 2nd running vehicle for to and from work etc as we're more out in the sticks now, which it's been great for, had it about 6 weeks now. Just to be clear we have a Disco 2 with stage 2 remap, 110 Defender, almost complete, rebuilt from scratch, 110 Defender rolling chassis going to be built with 5.9 L Cummins 6bt as its power , hence the term another running vehicle ha ha. The little Audi has started to dislike mornings though.
