Hi, Anyone got knowledge or videos for changing from Discs & Pads on on a C7 - A6 - 2011 spec car, thinking I may do this myself thanks to Audi wanting £450.00, I'm yet to check the Audi specialists or Kwick Fit / ATS type places as I wanted to explore this option first? Ive done most my cars in the past and just wanted to see what sensors we had and the likely hood of it becoming a awkward job, if it does I will just send it in somewhere. Cheers Adie.

Evening all, looking to find out what type of Quattro system my A6 has? I think there is 3 types currently in use across the Audi range? if so could anyone let me/us know please? Cheers Adie

2L A6 S Line Ultra TDI Black edition - Newbie question ?
Whizzbang replied to Wisp13's topic in Audi A6 (C7) Forum
Morning all, I've read this with a degree of interest as I too can relate to the issue of MPG on the A6 however I can throw a little light on the subject, not much but a little. It's very very common for manufacturers to manipulate their mpg figures so to return the best taxation brackets for the class of vehicle along with and as you know this bit.... to bolster their averages when officially releasing vehicle performance figures, I've witnessed this first hand with some of the manufacturers I have worked for, it certainly happens and as much of a let down as it can be it's the reality of using the car and working it all out that ultimately gets it right, good query by Wilson though as I think most of us blokes tend to wander this when considering and buying cars (heaven forbid had I wandered a question like this to my wife!) As Gareth mentioned checking the tyres, fuel, mechanical components that are effecting this area is key, It's also quite easy to influence the mpg when it comes to tyre tempurature. Having seen a number of wheels and tyres being put in the freezers prior to testing tells me that given the recent weather and the chill we have had this could be effecting some of your results, I'm no expert so really know if they increased or decreased the fuel consumption, I just recall seeing loads going via the freezers and heater units we had. incidentally I have a 3.0 Quattro and I cover at times 1000miles per week and have seen the following results... Drive like miss daisy... >50mpg. Drive like normal... > 45 ish. Drive it like I just stole it..... >29-30mpg but great fun!!! I'm surprised the 2.0 ultra is retuning these type of figures though so getting it check like Trevor says maybe worth considering... bang in that warranty Wilson! Wish I had it on mine still. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend A6 fans!🙄 -

Hello Gareth, Brad. Thank you both for your thoughts, very indeed, I have no major gripe with the cost despite being able to go on short holiday for that money😬 My cars booked in with Audi Norwich this Monday! I'm having the recommended done as it's "recommended" and as such while we do have local garages and as Brad say specialists I feel happier having the S-Tronic box done by the absolute best who know what to do with it, I guess in life these are the things we pay for which give us satisfaction and peace of mind. I think this gearbox is the same as you get in the S6 bolted to the V8 so while £225.00 seems high to replace some oil I believe I'm buying that knowledge of audi knowing their own kit. Do we know anyone else with an S-Tronic box the same as mine? Cheers Adie

May seem basic but check the fuse first, it's quick easy, I'm not sure if there's is one for anything particular on the A6 but worth a quick look-see.

Evening all, Had the unhealthy pleasure of looking at servicing cost for my A6 as it's come round for it's "major" and S-Tronic service. I'm also having the break fluid changed. I got a quote from a local RAC approved garage which came in at £587.00 inc VAT and another quote from Audi main dealer Southend at £684.00. As as a result and due to my situation I'm able to get another quote form another main dealer in Norwich, much to my surprise Audi Norwich price matched against the Non-dealer garage! Woop woop.... Has anyone else found this to be the case and does anyone know what is significant with S-Tronic service? thats said would anyone have details as to what is done with the services in detail? Short of when I ask when it goes in? Cheers Adie

Thanks Trevor! I'm not sure it will happen as quick as I'd like as I've a load other stuff to sort first! we will see.

Hi Antabb, Excellent car car is the A7! What spec did you get? If it's anything like my A6 which I imagine it is, you will certainly find it's a "Drivers Car"

Stick it 6 and hit cruise and leave it as much as possile, auto setting will adjust accordingly but generally I find the stiffer steering a little more stable on the the roads, especially as the A6 steering can feel a little light on economy. I have a 3.0 auto and at time have hit 49-50mpg when poodling. 😱

The best thing with this to call one of the paint companies direct, companies like PPG or Akzo Nobel, they usually have a customer care centre and can give support to specific colour codes if you have it. Failing this you can chase the stockist/suppliers such as LKQ coatings, they'd have what you need to help you.

Evening, I work in vehical paint! I was responsible for the Caterham/Team Lotus F1 Teams race cars along with their their 2013 effort LMP2 cars between worked for the team between 2010 - 2014 also did a few MOTO GP 2 bikes and also the teams GP2 cars under the team name Caterham. I went on to work at McLaren in Woking looking at after the P1 paint processes and how the cars were done along with additional work on McLarens 2015 F1 cars. Since then I been setting up large factories that support vehicals parts as tir 1 suppliers to Aston Martin, Mclaren, JLR & Bentley. It's a humble career that's consumed my life but for all the hard work means I get to blast around in my Audi A6 3.0TDI which in true motorsport fashion at least has launch control! I love it ....500 nmt at my disposal is fun, can't wait to move up,to the S6 I'm after.
