  1. Hi all, probably slightly different than your usual threads but i have a stereo issue that is quite frustrating. I always listen to my ipod in the car which obviously connects via bluetooth, but with when any bass starts to play on the track, for example heavy drumming, the music goes quieter as if the volumes just been turned down about 7 notches, when the drumming stops the music goes louder again as if you've just turned the volume back up. It's quite frustrating because this happens with every track and hearing the music constantly go up and down can be quite annoying. Anybody any suggestions what the solution could be? I don't think it's my ipod because i connect it to my van as well, and the sound in my van is fine. I've tried playing with the sound settings in the Audi but nothing seems to help. TIA

  3. Hi sorry for the delay i actually forgot to update. So i got in the car last sunday to take it to a garage to see what the noise was, and the squeaky noise had completely disappeared. I took it for a drive to see if it would return, but no, completely gone. I mentioned this to my mechanic friend and he said as it was raining it probably lubricated the strut mount rubbers which he thought was the problem rubbing on the metal frame? I got in the car wednesday after it had been raining again, and after a 20 min drive the squeaky noise came back but not as excessive, i get in the car again yesterday, and no squeaky noise. This is very strange, but possibly it is the strut mount rubbers rubbing on the frame? And the rian has lubricated them slightly?
  4. Hi Gareth, yes i have messaged the dealer this morning notifying him of the problem and that i'm going to get a few garages to have a look to get some different opinions and hopefully a rough cost. I did say i fully expect the cost to be covered under warranty as i've just paid £4390 for a car and had it less than 6 hours before this problem occured, but i will try get an estimated cost today and I'll be back in touch with him to see where we go from there. Thank you
  5. Hi Gareth, many thanks for your reply. I went outside last night again to just to have another listen of it. I was probably exaggerating slightly when i said it sounds like a flat tyre when idling. I was in panic mode after been pretty upset, looking forward to getting this car then straight away i hit a problem. The sound mainly occurs when i'm turning the steering wheel to the left and right, and also at low speeds, higher speeds you can't really hear it. I took the car to my friends last night who is a mechanic and he says it sounds like the strut mount rubber is rubbing against the metal frame of the car. The sound does sound like it's coming from that area at the top of the struts both sides of the car and may just need some lubrication on it, but i'm not entirely convinced. I have done research and found other people have this issue, so it could be the issue, but it's strange that it was fine to drive to start with, i didn't hear a sound, then all of a sudden both sides make the same noise? I'm going to take it to a couple of garages today to get another opinion, i will be in touch with what they say.
  6. Hi all, i've just picked my Audi A3 up this morning, it's an 09 plater with 130k on it but it drives like a dream and looks a stunning car, definately been looked after. I've had a bit of a drive in it all day like you do, and a few minutes from home i started to hear what sounded like a flat tyre, i pulled up outside my house and reverse parked it, and there's like a squeaky/rubbing noise when i turn the steering wheel side to side, and weirdly it sounds like a flat tyre even when idling sat outside my house. Anyboyd any ideas what this could be? I've drove it 45 miles home on the motorway and it's been spot on, i did a few little stops, came home and that's when i heard the noise. The car has 18 month warranty on it, should i contact the dealer about this? TIA
  7. Hi Steve, unfortunately not, we are thinking of getting something more economical like a ford fiesta. My partner has 2 part time jobs so needs something with more mpg and with a kiddie on the way, something a bit cheaper on insurance etc. Things you do for family eh :-)
  8. Welcome to my beloved Audi A3 1.6 in Silver We bought it in November 2016, only selling now due to needing a bigger car due to expecting a family. Believe me it hurts. Air con, Alarm, Immobiliser, Power Steering, Central Locking, Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, Driver Airbag, Passenger Airbag, Alloy Wheels, Rear Seatbelts, Height adjustable Driver's seat, CD Player, Hands Free Bluetooth. It's a beautiful car, it drives perfect, starts everytime without fail. 2 Former Keepers. The body work is in great condition, the only scuffs I can see are above the rear window on the drivers side (please see picture), but maybe a bit of T-cutting and TLC would solve this. The cigarette lighter doesn't work, everytime I put a new fuse in it blows straight away, so I believe it either needs Re-wiring or a complete new lighter but as we don't smoke it never bothered us. 90,832 mileage but we are still driving it so will go up. MOT 29th Sept 2017. Service History, last service was at 59,000 mile so will probably need a service. We did mean to get round to it but just haven't had the cash lately. If I'm honest this car is in fantastic condition. It's lovely to drive, it has no faults and it looks great. Any inspection welcome, we're located in LS16, Leeds. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
  9. We've never used it mate as it's been faulty since we got the car. We bought a new fuse as we had noticed it had blown, as soon as we put the new fuse in, it blows straight away even without the cigarette lighter itself in. Second time I disconnected the socket completely, put the fuse in and it was fine, as soon as i connected the socket the fuse blew. So it's either a faulty socket, or dodgy wiring, hence why I don't want to spend £30 on one incase it's the wiring that's faulty.
  10. Hi Steve, thanks for your reply. I have clicked on each of the links and each says the item has been removed? I have managed to find the modeal number 8Z0919309 but the only ones i can find are £29.00+ I don't want to pay that as I'm not 100% sure if it is the socket or if it's faulty wiring that keeps blowing the fuse.
  11. Hi I need a cigarette lighter socket for a 2009 Audi A3. I need the actual 12v socket that connects to the wiring system, it has 3 brass pins that connect to a white plastic connector. I have looked everywhere and can't find one. If anyone is breaking an Audi or could help where i could find one please pass me on. Thanks
  12. Hi guys, I have a 2009 Audi A3. we are going on a trip in a few days so i decided we may need the cigarette lighter for sat nav's and phones etc. The cigarette lighter hasn't worked since we bought the car in sept 2016. I took the lighter from it's place in the car and cleaned all the terminals inside, it was full of muck etc. I used an electrical cleaner and WD40 with sandpaper then a toothbrush. All terminals looks tidy. I put it back in but still wasn't working. I checked the fuse in the compartment inside the car next to the steering wheel, and noticed the fuse had gone. I've just been to buy some new fuses from Halfords, put the new fuse in and it sparked as soon as it touched the connectors then the new fuse popped so it's blown. Does anyone know why it's sparking as soon as the fuse touches the connectors? I'm not the best with cars and electricals etc but I'm pretty baffled. Thanks
  13. Hi Juggati, yes in the end it was the boot lock which was full of water due to the leaking rear washer pipe. We took the lock out, dried it, sealed the hole in the washer pipe and it's been fine ever since. Hope this helps and hope you get yours sorted soon. Thanks for your help guys.
  14. Hi Bradley, thanks for your reply. Nothing else has happened as i left it in the garage overnight and the mechanic is going to look at it today. I researched more into the problem and read that the water leaking from the rear wiper washers can get into the microswitch on the boot lock? Which can cause the boot to think it's open which sets off the alarm. So to take it apart, dry the water out and squirt some WD40 on it? I told my friend that and he said he did that last night and so far so good, but i've asked him to keep the car until later today to make sure the alarm doesn't go off again.
  15. Hi guys, I bought my first Audi 4 months ago, it's been perfect, up until last night. At 3am in the morning the Alarm goes off, frightened me to death thinking somebody was trying to get in it, but after looking around everything seemed locked and secure etc, so thought nothing of it. Went back to bed, 5 mins later it goes off again, and then repeatedly for around 3 hours. One time i check the dash and it says the boot is open, but when i checked it was shut properly, but i opened it and shut it again firmyl just to make sure. In the end i had to keep the car unlocked as i had to be up for work and was far too frustrating. Today we go to halfords to check the battery, the battery only had 60 amps, which should be 240 i think? So we bought a new battery, got home, 30 mins later the alarm starts going again for no reason. Extremely peeved off now as i've just spent £85 on a new battery for no reason. I ring my friend who's a mechanic and take it in, told him what as going on and the problem etc, said he'd look at it. He phones me later and says he can't find anything wrong with it. He said if the boot is just on it's latch then that can cause the car to think somebody is trying to get in, but i knew it was shut properly. He said see how it goes, if it persists bring it back. So took it home, literally 10 mins later the alarm sets off again, i unlock the car (to turn off the alarm) then go to lock it, it's locking but the indicators aren't flashing like they should when I usually lock it. I noticed they don't flash unless the boot is open, or on the latch, and now i can fully confirm the boot was 100% fully locked. So i've now taken it back to my mechanic friend who will look at it tomorrow for me but on the way the boot light came on, but the boot was fully secured shut. Question is does anybody know what can be causing this? A possible electrical fault thinking the boot is open when it's not? Also the rear wiper washers don't work, and haven't since i bought the car. I told my mechanic friend, and when we tried them their and then, their was a leak on the arms of the boot? He said that's where all the electrical wires are but are usually fully sealed, but said he will check it out tomorrow when he has time. I've googled this and a few people have said it could be the siren which has leaked acid all over the circuit board or something causing it to alarm? But then what about the boot symbol? Apologies for the essay but i wanted to make everything clear. Thanks
