usually there is a hatch under the rear seat, not sure about on the A6. a good service is always advisable before looking elsewhere

this is a difficult situation to be in . if they'll plug it in for free let them do it. i imagine if they find nothing they will send you on your way. as per above post, what kind of driving are you doing? modern diesels don't take too kindly to the school run. you have the devil lurking under your bonnet (DPF) and it needs regular chances to burn out on the motorway. in fact it should be illegal these days to sell a diesel to anyone who doesn't sit on a motorway for 75+% of their time. add to that the dodgy emissions scandal where the recall essentially ruins the car and its a recipe for your troubles. there are things you can do, but it will cost you a few quid and i'm guessing that after forking out for a new car thats the last thing you'll want to do

best place to start is with fuel filter, a fuel treatment won;t hurt either . you could also get your glow plugs checked out although they usually throw a fault code in the ECU when there's and issue. Does it miss fire when you rev it out of gear or just when you attempt to drive off? My standard advice with poor running on a diesel is to start with fuel, especially when there are no errors for faulty sensors, etc. Even with a clear filter there is also a strainer in the tank, which after many miles can start to clog up.

tell the mrs to sit on the other side and see if the noise goes with her ;) in all seriousness, when changing lanes that can be common, especially with wider tyres. why not change the rear discs and pads as a matter of course then take things from there. usually wining noises are bearings, being a quattro changing the rears will be a bit more of a job than our more friendly FWDs.

if you want it to sit like that you'll need coilovers. you could get it to sit a lot nicer but just lowering it with shorter springs though for a lot less money

i think it goes back to when things used to "loosen up" causing oil leaks and oil to get past places it shouldn't and burn more oil. As magnet says. If you aren't losing significant oil between changes there is no reason not to use correct spec oil, regardless of mileage

What parts are you looking for. I can't imagine there's any difference with the body parts between the 2 cars

The only option I can think of is to lower the car, which will make it a harder ride. Love them wheels btw

What your mechanic is saying is good advice, normally. Thicker oil in a higher mileage motor is good advice although at 230km that's hardly what I'd call high mileage! Anyway, you are correct, diesels burn oil, it's in their nature. The incorrect oil can cause problem for dpfs. If it were me I would stick with the manufacturer recommended spec oil.

Generally speaking when you change from a standard bulb to an led you need to consider a resistor to dupe the systen into thinking the correct bulb is still there. The downside to this is heat, resistors can get very hot.

I assume you've checked the basics and at least replaced the fuel filter? i wouldn't go paying out for a carbon clean just yet but a bottle of redex or the like certainly would be worth a try.
