  1. Ok Gareth, I maybe have been getting carried away with all my spannering. I will get to audiscuss for a full set and do them all- any ballpark figure of what they will charge me? I'm not really sure how I'd go about getting in touch with the previous owner.
  2. Update. I've been to several specialist to investigate this and no one can help beyond offering to fit me up with some coil overs. Today I took it to my sister's workshop for a free alignment (nice when you have family in the trade) and her boss took a look as it's been a topic of conversation. The front looks good, he said. At the rear however.... both springs are in good condition but he recommended I change them for a matching pair of original springs. I'm not sure what cars they're from but neither look like the pictures I googled or even similar to each other. I should have taken some pics to show. I'll post them when they are off the car and next to each other Rear springs will be the job for the next nice day.
  3. So I found this poster. A golf IV has the same rear height as I measured on mine. Maybe it's got golf springs on the back.
  4. I'm pretty sure it's always been like that since I had it, around 18 months ago. The strut tops are in good order and all the mounts and factory and straight to the cross member, hubs are straight, wishbones are new, standard suspension and the strut mounting points are clean, rust free and all the original paint is intact. I'm really stumped. I could just lower the back but it's not really fixing the problem. The two of the car are from august '17.
  5. Just measured it at 340mm both sides at the front and 380mm o/s/r and 390mm n/s/r. The front has always been low (on standard equipment) but the drivers side had dropped even further. I changed the springs to find they where in good shape so changed the drivers side shock that brought the height up to match the passenger side- which is still low. I personally did the work around 10 days ago (I have no history of any work being done to the rear) I've not jumped it over any hump back bridges or through any massive pot holes. I have just taken the attached pictures so is a true representation of how it sits right now with standard springs and shock all round. Also, when the car was being inspected for this fault the mechanic pointed out that the wishbones are angled up, which is characteristic of the car being lowered. I can't get a photo of it but this crude drawing should example what i mean.
  6. My car doesn't sit level and I need help. The front of the car has had new, standard springs, shock absorbers and wishbones but is significantly lower than the back - the rear looking higher than normal. I've taken it to a couple of different garages who are convinced that the front has been lowered even after I explain that it has standard stuff fitted. Could it some how have long springs on the back, pushing the front down? Any ideas anybody?
  7. Bad editing there. ......kept it serviced....
  8. The car came with a full service history when I took it over in October 2016 and I've kept I did the cambelt and water pump march last year along with Bosch super4's and the S2000 filter. It's quite clean under there too..... I'll put some picks on the photo thread
  9. So, i spoke to two main dealers and they put me through to parts department who could only tell me that the turbo for my vin number is made by KKK. However this post i found quite useful.
  10. I'll let you know how it goes
  11. I didn't even think of asking the main dealer. Will they have the full spec of my car if I give them the reg? It's a great idea..... I'll give them a call. Thanks steve
  12. Easy peeps. So I've read so many things where people are so sure which turbochargers are fitted to which engines but it never seems to add up. I have a 51 plate A3 8L 1.8 20valve Turbo Sport with the 150bhp AUM engine. It's 2wd (as specific as I can be). I took it to a guy to talk about a remap and he tells me that it's a KO3 turbo.....however, another tuner told me it's a KO3s. The first guy says he can get it to just below 200brake with the KO3, which is lovely but what happens if he's wrong? Two questions then. 1. What turbo is it? 2. Can my tuner bone my car with a map for the wrong turbo?
  13. I love my car....but next to all your shiny V8's....
  14. That's what i wanted to know. It'll be alright for a bit like that though, right? No engine management problems etc? It's not like I'm lookin at crazy big intercooler, just 2" thicker available from popular online auction site. Is it even worth doing if I'm not going for a big tuning mission? I'm not looking for 400+....Just cranking it up a bit.
  15. Me to. It clearly makes sense to do the hardware before the software but i read somewhere where a guy lost power by fitting a big front mount.
  16. Right, i know loads of people ask about tuning the 1.8 20v turbos but I'll ask anyway. I want to fit a bigger, side mount intercooler to directly replace the standard one. Can i do this before remapping or will the engine suffer by not being tuned with it, say if i do the intercooler a couple of months before any ECU work? Does that make sense?
  17. New stereo in. I went for a JVC double din unit costing 90quid then another 70 for wiring harness and facia plate (which took some modification). It's finally done and it works. Thanks for helping me decide what to do.
  18. Nathanc, Yo. So i put a Pipercross panel filter in mine. About 30squid. I recommend it. I never liked the idea of doing the old honda s2000 filter mod without fitting a box around it and some cold air feed. I guess it depends on how willing you are to start changing things under yer bonnet. I'm going for simple, subtle things. Filters, plugs, remap and then keep it really well serviced. .. ..Not really answered your question. I guess I'm trying to say that it's easier to make your car worse than better if you don't know what you are doing. Chris
  19. Thanks for the replies guys. Any decent looking head units start to get pretty pricey though. What about the in line usb/Bluetooth devices that plug in the back? They go for around #80ish on eBay. Any ideas about those?
  20. so I have a 2002 A3 sport with the Symphony stereo option. it sounds great but the cassette deck doesn't get much use and the 6 stacker is a bit inconvenient. I want to know what the options for fitting a USB port are as I don't really want to change to an after market head unit. Any suggestions?
