  1. Glad you got sorted 🙂
  2. No probs at all. Please keep me posted on how you get on.
  3. You're most welcome, 21 years of c5s you get to know all the ins and Outs. It could be a tiptronic gearbox which aren't as bad. Just make sure the gears change smoothly and that the gearbox has been serviced. I bet it's a final edition model too being a 2005 c5. As such mdke sure the satnav works. It'll be the RNS-E version. With the high mileage I'd like to think it's been very well maintained.
  4. I'd highly recommend you speak to the company who fitted the ghost alarm. If you hadn't mentioned the ghost alarm I would have suggested the factory fitted immobiliser as the potential culprit. Have you had a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up?
  5. Thanks for the heads up on this Steve. Sure it'll be useful to members 🙂 might give them a try for my next service in march.
  6. Hi Mark, My similar aged A6 makes a similar beep when off but radio on if I'm sat in it. I've wondered if it's the car telling me the battery is low on charge? It's just a guess but worth getting the battery checked maybe. Regarding the locking, I've had a similar issue in my A6. The driver's door lock mechanism controls the rest of the central locking it could have been tis which has failed? It could bakso be a broken wire. I've had both these on my A6. I will admit my central locking has stopped working again and wondering if it's the receiver. I appreciate this won't be the car with your car as the key is partially working. You could look at doing a key reset from videos in YouTube. Or try a spare key to see if that's working. If it's working then at least it narrows down the problem of the main key.
  7. Cliff raises a good point, dont forget the increase of ULEZ expansion in London will bring a lot of good cars into the market
  8. Welcome to the forum Chris you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 please check the events section for shows we're attending this year 👍
  9. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 I have an A6 c5 2.5tdi with 344k on the clock. Full service history and I'm the second owner. My dad being the first owner. The engine and gearbox have never been rebuilt. What's the service history of the car? Check when Cambelt and water pump was last changed.asbrgis is a front of the car off job. Should be done at least every 8 years. Do all electrical items work? AC compressors can fail and they're expensive to fix. The central LCD screen pixels are known to fail but these can be replaced for around £300 roughly. Also I appreciate Spain doesn't get as much rain as the UK but water ingress culprits include the pollen filter housing and the battery tray which is located on the scuttle panel. The tray fills with leaves etc blocking the drains. These spots let water in and flood the comfort control module situated under the carpet (passenger side in rhd cars). The CCM failing can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins. And has to be replaced with a part with identical part number. If an auto and a CVT make sure it changes smoothly as these gearboxes are prone to failing. Make sure it's been serviced. Slow starting can be caused by failing glowplugs. I can confirm this engine can start with only 3 glowplugs working! As I found out. Smokey exhausts can be caused by leaking injector seals. Headlight switches have been known to catch fire and I believe there was a recall for this however as the car you're looking at is a 2005 model you should be fine. I personally am finding it hard to source interior trim. You might have more look in LHD. As with any diesel the turbo can fail and they can whine. My car has had 2 turbo's in it's 20 year 344k life. The first turbo failed at just over 70k. These engines do have egr valves. These valves are known to fail on modern diesels but In my case (fingers crossed) it's still on its original egr valve. Knocking noises from the front can be engine mounts. Also on the front suspension arms are known to go. Bodywork issues are the top of the front arch lips due to the cars having a piece of foam on the inside which obviously absorbs moisture and causes the wings to rot, and bubble all round the arch edge. Also check lower does where the lower door trim is as rust can form under this trim. You'll know if you look on the inside of the door in the corner. You might be lucky as the cars lives in Spain. But on the fill side the headlights may have been affected by the sun and gone cloudy. Over all they're great cars I still use mine for road trips around the UK and Europe. It's due to go to Norway and the arctic circle in August! On the whole it's been reliable despite going round the nurburgring, drag strip at Santa Pod plus maxing it on the autobahn. Obviously I've mentioned some issues, of which I've had a few of the ones listed. A lot of people slag off the 2.5tdi as being unreliable, however I believe the unreliability comes from a lack of good maintenance and poor servicing. Mines over serviced to be honest but I want it to be on best form.as possible and for my peace on road trips. Just remember the car might be cheap to buy but no matter how old an Audi gets the bills remain high. Oh and don't forget to check out the A6 c5 section on this forum as it'll give you further helpful advice 🙂
  10. I personally go from my experience of how my 1993 ford escort runs on E10 which is a lot different to e5. I know the car well as I've owned it 16 years. I always put e5 in it, unless E10 is a last resort. My worry is how E10 degrades the fuel lines due to the extra sulphur. Ultimately increasing the risk of pipe degradation and thus fuel spilling into a hot engine causing a fire. However I appreciate fuel lines should be checked regularly on older cars anyway.
  11. Thankfully not for another 6 years!
  12. Take a look at YouTube buyers guides. Check the service history. Is it full? Has the Cambelt and water pump been changed on time. Has the gearbox oil been changed on time. Dpf and egr coolers are expensive bills when they break. Make sure all electrical items work as things like AC compressors can be expensive. Coolant leak, could it be a leaking heater matrix causing water and thus condensation in the cabin. I think it's very odd the windows to be down for a viewing.
  13. You might find the mmi needs a software update. I'd recommend speaking to your last cal Audi dealer. In theory the update should be free.
  14. I think e5 is selling out faster as people aren't trusting E10. It's all a money making scam as cars running on E10 are getting less mpg.
  15. Unfortunately a fact of life due to the design of the car. You could always try and fit larger rally style mudflaps I suppose
  16. How odd. I have to question my source.
  17. You're most welcome, glad I could help 🙂
  18. I know on my A6 the whole front has to come off to access the belts 🤦‍♂️
  19. They can be a nightmare to change. I know on my A6 c5 the front has to come off.
  20. I'm surprised the remapper didn't offer you to have the dpf deleted from the ECU at the same time. Even if the dpf was still in place. I'd say that the remapper is bound to deny that it's anything to do with what they've done. Was the remap ona rolling road?
  21. So sorry to hear of your situation. Trading in made sense.
  22. Hey David, there's a guide under the A6 c5 section which might help. https://www.audiownersclub.com/forums/topic/21584-a6-c5-cd-error-fix/
  23. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 your A8 looks stunning! Best version of A8 is the d3 in my opinion
  24. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 sounds like you've had a nice few Audi's 👍
  25. It seems to have gone full circle, in the sense Audi had long Cambelt intervals (8 years in my Audi's case) to then 5 years and now this.
