  1. They can be retrofitted but It won't be cheap. You'll need the lights, ballast boxes, modules etc then have it all coded. As well as a bumper with headlight washers which are compulsory with xenons I believe.
  2. No way! Such a shame.
  3. You're welcome. The Cambelt nwas changed 30k miles ago but how many years ago? You've had it a good while and sounds like you've followed the servicing schedule so the question is whether you buy a ew car (which could still have faults) or repair a car you know well. I've always done the latter, but in the flip side if I hadn't if done and got rid I could have bought a newer car. For example in 18 months around 2016-2017 my A6 had 6k of repairs for wear and tear plus bodywork. I'd still recommend a second opinion from another garage.
  4. Welcome to the forum Graeme you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 Nice spec A3. You do have good taste in Audi's, the kingfisher blue was one of the best colours in my opinion. B5 1.8 in that colour are rare now.
  5. I'd recommend a second opinion on the work quoted. When was your Cambelt last changed? It should be every 5 years or 120k which ever comes first. Did the car have a diagnostic check before the oil sensor was replaced? How long ago was the sensor changed? If it was within a month then there should be some comeback with the original garage. What's the service history on the vehicle in general and how long have you had it? Well maintained cars can be reliable, the mileage shouldn't worry you. For example my A6 has done 344k on the original engine and gearbox which have never been rebuilt. I'm the second owner, my dad being the first owner. It's been reliable but bills are expensive. As all parts wear out. You have two choices really, trade it in and buy another car. Or repair it and run with it. Don't forget the age old saying better the devil you know....
  6. I've never heard of seen this before. What's the engine temperature when this is happening?
  7. I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. Could be an issue with the drivers door lock module.
  8. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 Might be worth you speaking to autologics for that install. They specialise in retrofits and have been used by various members on here.
  9. No probs at all, it's the best show of the season in my opinion 🙂 There will be more shows outlined once I've got more details of them 🙂
  10. If it's the garage you've bought it off telling you this then I'd suggest getting a second opinion from another garage. If a fault is found them the garage that sold it to you should fix the issue free of charge
  11. Thank you, you too 🙂
  12. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 Would be great to see you at the shows. Take a look at the events section for the up and coming shows we're attending.

I just want to remind members that no matter our culture or creed all our opinions are valid, valued and should be considered. We all come from different walks of life and experiences and as such it doesn't mean that one or the other are wrong with their thinking. As such all opinions, knowledge, experience and most importantly our members are valued as well as being invaluable. The club is here for it's members, and every member is equal. It is important to live and let live and appreciate other members opinions. Which means we should often agree to disagree, and remember there are more serious issues going on in the world than an issue with anyone of our cars. I will finish off by saying that everyone of our members contributions and support over the last year is highly appreciated and I look forward to speaking to you in 2023 and let's make the audiownersclub.com the best it's ever been.
  14. No probs at all 🙂 definitely worth seeing when gearbox oil was changed regardless
  15. Definitely could be an injector or camshaft sensor maybe?
  16. Try reprogramming the key via this YouTube video: Also if you have a spare key you could try and use that, as it might help narrow down whether the issue is with the key or the car. If that doesn't work then I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up
  17. Manual or auto? If auto then I'd look to see when the gearbox oil was last changed as this can sometimes affect the gear changes. If it's a manual you could look at the gear linkages
  18. Regardless of engine service history is key. Either car should have had a Cambelt and water pump change. Also check that the Audi gearbox has been serviced. In addition, make sure that the quattro system has been serviced and that the tyre tread is even on tyres on the same axle. As uneven tyre wear can damage the quattro system. Air suspension can fail and the compressors or bags aren't cheap. Also make sure all electrical items work as most components such as AC compressors etc can be expensive to replace. I'd also recommend looking at buyers guides on YouTube
  19. That makes sense. And yep it should have been checked when Cambelt was fitted. However in the situation I had, the lower pulley became very loose due to the connecting parts wearing.
  20. The joys 😁 f auto correct 🤦‍♂️ should say pulleys. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. It should have said pulleys. Apologies
  21. Could it have been remapped?.
  22. I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. Also worth checking the fuse.
  23. You're as you g as you feel!
  24. Yea I believe it should work. Obviously your light is younger than that ending in H but I couldn't say how much older.
  25. Just bumping this thread. Are there any shows members would like to attend? I know we had a club display at the Bromley pageant of motoring last year for example.
