  1. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 Service history is key. Check to see if the Cambelt and water pump has been changed when it should otherwise that'll be a costly bill. Also make sure the auto gearbox has been changed on time too. As degraded oil can affect the gearbox from.sekevting gears. If quattro check the tyres have even tread on each axle as uneven tyre wear can damage the quattro system. Also check the AC works as replacing compressors can be expensive.
  2. Definitely a coincidence. Have they done a diagnostic check, plugging it in to the computer that is? Might be worth getting the car to another garage for a second opinion. To transport the car you could use Shipley, I've used them and can recommend them.
  3. I'd definitely recommend a diagnostic check. When was the gearbox oil last changed? As degrading oil can affect gear changes.
  4. This link might help 🙂 https://roofboxdude.com/how-to-reduce-wind-noise/#:~:text=Try to make sure the,be using a bungee cord.
  5. I'd recommend against it, as it can cause damage to other parts of the gearbox long term. Let's be honest Audi didn't spend millions on design/development for no reason. Just my opinion.
  6. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 I have to say it's an odd one I've not come across before either. Please keep us posted on how you get on 🙂
  7. Same as mine, if old Audi's are looked after then they're reliable. Not cheap though but they're a labour of love.
  8. Sounds like a plan, I know on older Audi's like mine the AC can leak due to blocked pipes under the passenger seat.
  9. Preventative maintenance is always good. Especially on the s tronic box. When the oil degrades the gearbox can struggle to select gears.
  10. The s tronic gearbox is one of the best out there 🙂 you could always get a diagnostic check for peace of mind 🙂
  11. Definitely get it in. They need to do a diagnostic check at the very least.
  12. The way you have to look at it, having a stab in the dark hoping you did the solution could cost you more money than good quality diagnosis. It's worth a shot putting the original style manifold back on. Speaking from experience, you can't run an old Audi on a show string. My A6 has only covered 341k miles on the original engine and gearbox because of thorough maintenance. Including preventative maintenance. Old Audi's get cheaper to buy but bills always remain high. That goes for any German car.
  13. Yea it's worth looking at getting it regassed. It should be done ever 2 years. Does sound like it's the original screen. It makes me wonder if moisture is getting into the car - ie a leak somewhere. Are the carpets dry and spare wheel well free of water?
  14. The Audiownersclub.com and wider Audi community joins with people around the United Kingdom and the world in mourning the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Much loved and respected around the globe, Her Majesty The Queen was an inspiration to so many people during her 70-year reign. We offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to the Royal Family at this very sad time.
  15. Is the windscreen the original or has it been changed? If it's an Audi one it'll have an Audi part number.
  16. Hmm I still wonder a lower pulley.
  17. Ah, if theyve been modified then I'd recommend an auto electrican to take a look. I suspect the wiring will run along the the driverside and into the fusebox.
  18. You've done a lot of the diagnostic work. I do wonder if it's a module issue or sensor issue then.
  19. I think this is a standard thing from.wvat I've seen on.otber Audi models. I think it partly depends on how much acceleration is applied from standstill.
  20. I personally Have driven one but I'd recommend you drive one to see if you like it and compare it to the biturbo. Don't forget you could always get it remapped for more power. I'd also advise looking on YouTube for buyers guides.
