Yea it should be done via obd port. Never heard of the ECU needing to be removed. £100 is a cheap remap. Personally I feel for best results a remap company that uses a rolling road is best for the car in my opinion.
  2. Sorry this has happened to both of you. Genuine Audi products should not damage the vehicle. It also shows a poor quality of paint a d paint process used in my opinion.
  3. I can't advise on the tools needed but my word of caution is that if you mess around with it, then can't do it Audi could refuse to do the job. Or charge you more. If you can get the car to them for a proper diagnosis then they can give you an exact price.
  4. This link might help. I believe b5 and b7 installation is the same. https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/ambient-lighting-in-the-b7.182130/ https://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/topic/89461-ambient-led-retrofit/ Here's the fitting guide: https://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/topic/58026-how-to-retrofit-ambient-interior-lighting/
  5. Definitely worth checking for the smoke. That's great, as any fault codes my help rule out potential causes. I believe all VAG cars have an egr cooler with the egr. I've found this link, I appreciate it doesn't relate to your specific engine but it gives good info on egrs. On reading it, it could just be a gasket leaking. I do feel you could try rad seal but if it did work then irl would only be a temporary repair. https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/196553-2012-A6-quattro-3-0Tdi-EGR-coolant-leak-advice
  6. Yea I think they've got the numbers the wrong way round. Definitely worth considering a faulty bulb then. I also believe if a bulb is dieing but not blown the car will say the bulbs out.

    Coolant leak

There should be good will on this. But Audi customer care has always been bad. I can say that as my A6 was bought new in 2002 by my dad and the turbo blew 3 days out of warranty. Audi would only cover half the repair. My ford Kuga daily (Audi is now in semi retirement) and ford customer care was no better. But I do believe this depends on which franchise dealer it is as is the case with ford. It might be worth contacting Audi customer services. Or the motoring ombudsman.
  8. My first port of call would be to see if the mmi needs a software update. If not then a diagnostic check might be a good idea.
  9. As per the title the main water ingress culprit into the cabin is from the battery tray housing. causing wet carpets and if left untreated can damage the CCM which sits in the passenger from footwell. This picture shows how to clean out the tray and unblock the drain holes which get clogged with foliage and dirt. Bare in mind another culprit is a cracked pollen filter housing.
  10. My advice would be to take the boot lid trim off and see if anything has come loose regarding the rear wiper mechanism
  11. Hi there, isn't the brb a 1.9tdi? The camshaft or valves could be worn especially if it's run low on oil. what's the mileage on it?
  12. I know you've done the head gasket test but is there any white smoke coming from the exhaust? Also it might be worth getting a diagnostic check carried out to see what fault codes flag up. Egr coolers are a common failure on VAG cars. I'd advise a good quality replacement as cheap ones can fail quite quickly
  13. Hi Tony, this could be a faulty 3rd brake light if fitted. I had a similar issue on my 2002 A6 and had to replace the unit. Not sure what work the garage have done but it might be worth you getting an auto electrican to take a look at the wiring. Also did you change any bulbs lately? I ask as when I changed a brake light bulb on my works 2010 ford transit I fitted the wrong one and it caused the brake lights to stay on when lights were on and passenger side front side light to come on when braking.
  14. I'm guessing you've collected your A3? Hope it's living up to expectations 🙂 I'd say take 10mpg of the manufacturers figures and you'd be about right.
  15. Can't really speak for my a6 now as I have to change tyres due to age rather than mileage. However on my ford Kuga daily I was using continentals but wasn't happy with how long they lasted. I switched to Hankooks midrange roadstones and definitely last longer, a lot longer. I'm getting around 8-10k more miles out of them compared to continentals.
  16. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 Nice couple of Audi's you have there 👍
  17. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 nice looking A6. I drive an old Audi which my dad bought new then passed to me. With older ones it's all about how well it's been maintained. Mines on 339k miles on the original engine and gearbox which have never been rebuilt. Second turbo mind, first blew at 75k. Anything mines needed it's had and has never missed a service in 20 years. Plus it's been on multiple road trips including to France, Belgium, nc500 and lands end to John O Groats. As well as doing track time at castle Combe and Santa Pod.
  18. They should have do e good will. But same thing happened to my dad with the c5 I now have. 3 days out of warranty and the turbo blew. Audi paid half of the repair.
  19. Id definitely speak to Audi. As I think it's done through the my Audi app as a guess.
  20. With any electrical faults especially if the car has electronic power steering it's worth getting the battery checked as a failing battery can cause all sorts of electrical issues.
  21. Have you had a diagnostic check carried out? It could be a wiring issue.
  22. Could you upload some pics of the corrosion. Either way I think you should t expect rust on a two year old car in today's day and age. Bare in mind if the garage repaint/sort the rust you will get 12 months warranty on the work carried out with a main dealer. Or you should do.
  23. I think the lights are also controlled by door pins. Which activate the lights when the doors are opened. These can fail over time.
  24. Exactly. Any stripping of a gearbox internals is very expensive.
