I believe they have to be coded in. But it's definitely worth checking to see what module you should have in conjunction with the headlights.

360 Camera not working - White Screen
Steve Q replied to Stuart A5's topic in Audi Audio / DashCams / Electronics / Security
Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 My advice would be to get it booked in at Audi as it's under warranty. They'll do a diagnostic check on it to find out what's wrong. -
If you changed the relays and that's not fixed it then either the housing for the relsys or wiring further along will.need changing in my opinion.

Exactly the who scheme of disposal and repair hasn't been thought through. I did seriously look at converting the a6 to run of chip fat/cooking oil (or similar) however I think the a6 fuel pump won't cope. To do this id need an old Merc diesel preferably a w124 250d. But that's too old to use daily due to higher running costs of parts wearing out due to age.
-
You can try and dry it out but more often than not the components that have got wet will need replacing. Im in a similar situation with my c5 as I need a new ccm after it got wet. It's dried out best it could but I've got intermittent central locking issues etc.

Very strange times. As I say I have the brochure for my a6 which states how green it is. Ironically my a6 will have out lived a lot of first generation electric cars so it is more environmentally friendly!

Definitely speak to the finance company. No way should a diff go on a 27k 3 year old car. It sounds like the previous owner has thrashed it. However there should be done good will on Audis part as the diff shouldn't have gone wrong at this stage. Definitely speak to an independent garage for a quote as they should be cheaper mainly with the labour rate. Over due to the quattro system by 3 months you should be ok as long as you get it serviced now as I wouldn't leave it any later as you've done 2k miles in that time.
-
Just to add. The current life expectancy of a car is an average of 13 years. I can see this going down to 7 years as most electric cars will be worthless at the 8 year old mark as most have warranties on batteries for 8 years. After that you're on your own and they're around 10k to buy new batteries. Not to mention the extra pollution caused from mining the precious metals for the batteries abd the slave labour used to mine the precious metals too. It's a con. An electric car has polluted more in it's construction than a conventional car. So how's that greener? I do believe people that buy electric cars have either fallen for the con or care more about their wallet than the environment. The government agenda is to change our preference on what drives our vehicles to tax us more. This happens ever 20 or so years. For example petrol cars were most common right through to the late 80s-early 90s. Then the government decided that diesel was greener as it was more economical. So persuaded people into diesel cars. Then mid teenies they decided that the nitrates in diesel were more dangerous so have been pushing people back to petrol. But petrol is bad for the environment because of xyz. So now they want us all to have electric cars. But in 10-15 years the government will decide that due to a shortage of the previous metals and the the fact the mining. Is damaging to the environment they will tell everyone electric cars are bad abd will persuade everyone into synthetic fuel vehicles. I'm sure hydrogen will come into the equation too at some point. It's not about saving the planet. It's about taxing us more and more.
-
Sounds like a great upgrade 🙂
-
Is it worth checking the relays? Also you could try a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up regarding the system. But you're most likely right it being the blower motor. But it could also be the control unit (buttons).

Audi has a good following in South Africa. According to Autotrader’s 2021 Mid-Year Car Industry Report, it is the 5th most searched brand in South Africa. I have also been a fan of Audi cars for a while. My eldest brother had an old 500 over a decade ago. It was in very good condition for its age and it drove like a dream. It was a big car, very spacious and very comfortable. Later on, one of my best friends had an Audi A3, one had an Audi Q5, and one still drives an A5 to this day. My friend with the A5 is due for an upgrade and I have been pushing him to switch to electric. Earlier this year, Audi South Africa announced that it would be bringing 6 electric vehicle models to South Africa in Q1 2022. Audi has now announced the South African pricing for the e-tron range and is now taking orders for delivery in Q1 next year. Now my friend has an option to get one of the models in the new e-tron range if he wants. The e-tron range for South Africa includes: e-tron 55 SUV e-tron Sportback 55 e-tron Sportback S e-tron GT RS e-tron GT Pricing starts from around R1,990,000 ($123,000) for the e-tron 55 Advanced and R3,300,000 ($204,000) for the Audi RS e-tron GT. Specialist e-tron dealerships include Bryanston, Rivonia, Sandton (in Johannesburg); Centurion, Hatfield, Menlyn (in Pretoria); Century City, Clairemont (in Cape Town) and Umhlanga & Audi Centre (in Durban). South Africans have access to a very good charging network. In fact, South Africa has one of the highest ratios of public EV chargers to EVs in the world. One of the leading players in this industry is GridCars. GridCars has partnered with several OEMs, including Audi, to provide EV owners with access to a nationwide charging network. EV owners and users can now drive comfortably around South Africa using the charging network along the major highways, such as from Johannesburg to Durban and from Johannesburg to Cape Town. For a very long time, South Africans only had a few EV models to choose from. It’s really good to see Audi bringing all these models to South Africa. The Audi RS e-tron GT joins its cousin, the Porsche Taycan, which has been available in South Africa since mid-last year. I hope the other cousins from the ID. side of the family, such as the ID.4 from VW, will also be offered to customers in South Africa very soon. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/cleantechnica.com/2021/11/29/reservations-now-open-for-audis-e-tron-range-in-south-africa-pricing-confirmed/amp/

The Audi Q6 E-Tron is in its development stages, which means it will be caught testing often now. It was recently spied in Sweden for a winter testing session, blanketed in heavy camouflage. However, there were some elements we could decipher here. The Q6 E-Tron comes with the signature looks of the E-Tron series. It didn’t come with any noticeable changes this time around except for the additional lighting at the front and back that are necessitated by the not-so-bright daytimes of Scandinavia. The crossover is also riding on winter tires. It looks to have a roofline that dips at the rear, but we still expect a Sportback version to be launched in the future, just like Audi did the Q4 e-tron. In terms of size, it seems to be as big as the Q5, but expect it to offer a lot more cabin space. The longer wheelbase and the short overhangs are a testament to that. In Audi’s lineup, expect it to slot above the Q4 E-Tron. The Q6 E-Tron will be underpinned o... In fact, the same platform will also underpin the electric Macan. The architecture is capable of supporting rear-wheel steering and air suspension amongst other things, and will also support fast-charging up to 350 kW. There’s no word on the powertrain and battery specs, but we won’t be surprised if we see the A6 E-Tron’s powerhouse plonked in here. Audi revealed the A6 E-Tron Concept earlier this year, but gave us a fair bit of information. Just like Q6 E-Tron, the A6 E-Tron will also be based on the PPE platform. The A6 E-Tron concept was powered by an electric motor on each axle that made 469 horses and 590 pound-feet of torque combined. The EPA-estimated range is around 400 miles. If Audi wants to keep the A6 E-Tron as the more prestigious model in the lineup, we can expect all these figures to be cranked down a little. The Audi Q6 E-Tron will be built at the company’s EV plant in Ingolstadt. It is expected debut sometime in 2022 around the same time as the Porsche e-Macan. What are your thoughts and expectations from Q6 E-Tron? https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/the-audi-q6-e-tron-was-recently-spied-winter-testing-with-a-camo-quilt-in-sweden-ar193814.amp.html

Jamie Green says he’s still seeking opportunities with manufacturers to return to racing in 2022 after his Audi contract ended at the end of 2020, after missing out on a seat in the DTM this season. The 39-year-old Briton was a mainstay of the DTM for 16 continuous seasons between 2005 and 2020, scoring 17 wins for Mercedes and Audi and finishing second in the standings in 2015. But since his Audi factory deal concluded at the end of 2020, the 2004 Formula 3 Euroseries champion has only raced once for Audi GT customer Sainteloc in the Spa 24 Hours. Green however insists that he’s not considering retirement and told Motorsport.com that he’s actively seeking opportunities for a regular programme in GT racing, having made sporadic appearances in GT World Challenge, Italian GT and ADAC GT Masters events outside his main DTM programme in recent years. “I haven’t got my head around retiring, I didn’t want to retire and I still haven’t retired,” said Green. “I’m still really passionate about motorsport, I’m still fit and I’m still competitive - I finished on the podium in my last two DTM races. I didn’t know what was going to happen this year. I was hopeful I may get some kind of role within Audi to continue racing in GTs but Audi already had a big pool of GT drivers and they were quite loyal to those guys, so that meant there wasn’t really any opportunity there. “I’ve been in contact with other manufacturers since but I’m still basically available. “I’d enjoy doing a proper programme in GT racing that I can get my teeth into and really get to know the car, because the cool thing about it is you are out so often. “I think because I was in an Audi [at Spa], most of the people in the paddock probably thought, ‘oh, he’s still under contract to Audi’ but that actually expired at the end of 2020.” Green is optimistic that the influx of manufacturers entering the sportscar racing arena for the 2023 convergence of Le Mans Hypercar and LMDh will provide opportunities, despite never having raced a prototype. While conceding that “LMDh is quite a long way off”, he believes that his experience of driving high-downforce cars in DTM would make up for any shortfall in multi-class racing scenarios. “Especially up until 2017 we had significant downforce in the DTM, I’ve always felt quite at home in high-grip cars so I think that would suit me,” he said. “If you know how to use downforce, then you’ll be fine in any car with downforce. I would say it would probably be easier for me to adapt to a prototype car than it would to a GT car. GT cars don’t have much downforce and are heavier, and I was still able to be competitive in that against guys who are in the car 25 weekends a year, some of them for the last 10 years.” Green added that the changed model of the DTM, which has moved away from an all-pro series populated by manufacturer-funded teams to a series for GT3 cars with private teams often partially funded by paying drivers, would make it unlikely for him to return. He came close to the title in 2015 and 2017, in both years thwarted by gearbox failures while leading at the Red Bull Ring. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.motorsport.com/dtm/news/dtm-ace-jamie-green-has-no-intention-of-retiring-seeking-new-factory-deal/6812219/amp/

Drivers of Audi e-tron models manufactured between 2019 and 2020 can unlock an additional 12 miles of range with a free software update. The upgrade is applicable to 55 Quattro variants, built between September 2018 and November 2019, of which there are 1,655 in the UK. It can be installed at an Audi service centre. The update expands the usable capacity of the car’s 95kWh battery to to 86kWh and optimises the control of the front electric motor. In normal driving mode, the motor attached to the rear axle is responsible for propulsion. For improved efficiency, the front electric motor is now almost completely disconnected and powered off – and only when more power is needed do both motors come into play. The update also improves cooling. The thermal management system, which consists of four separate circuits, regulates the temperature of the high-voltage components more efficiently. Modifying the control system made it possible to reduce the volume flow rates in the coolant circuit, thus reducing energy consumption. The cooling system is the basis for fast DC charging, long battery life, and consistent driving performance, even under high loads. “At Audi, we deliver progress through technology – and there’s no clearer demonstration of that than the free software and range update we’ve just launched for our existing e-tron 55 quattro customers,” said Andrew Doyle, director of Audi UK. “As we shift our focus to the world of electric vehicles, we’re channelling our pioneering spirit and world-renowned technological expertise into the reinvention of our company as a leading light in the field of sustainable mobility.” https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.fleetnews.co.uk/amp/news/latest-fleet-news/electric-fleet-news/2021/11/17/audi-boosts-range-of-e-tron-models-with-software-update

According to a media report, Audi wants to build its Q4 e-tron electric SUV, which is produced in Zwickau, in Brussels from November 2022 due to high demand. The final decision will be made at the VW planning meeting on 9 December. This was reported by Automobilwoche with reference to company circles. Currently, the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 e-tron Sportback are built together with other MEB models – specifically the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and Cupra Born – at the VW plant in Zwickau, Saxony. Only the Skoda Enyaq is produced as an MEB model at Skoda’s main plant in Mlada Boleslav. As demand is generally high, the Volkswagen brand has already put the Wolfsburg plant up for discussion for overflow production. But Audi is apparently also considering building the Q4 e-tron in a second plant in the future. The choice is said to have been made against the Neckarsulm combustion engine site and in favour of the Belgian plant in Brussels, according to the report. Audi has been building only the e-tron quattro and its Sportback offshoot in Brussels since 2018. Unlike the MEB model Q4 e-tron, the larger Audi SUV is still based on the MLB Evo combustion engine platform. The batteries for the e-tron quattro are also assembled in Brussels. It is not known whether Audi will do the same for the Q4 e-tron or whether the MEB battery packs will be delivered pre-assembled. What is clear, however, is what will happen at the Brussels plant from 2026 onwards: from then on Audi plans to build the Q8 e-tron in Belgium, as Audi boss Markus Duesmann said at a local event in November. The large electric SUV is likely to be roughly the same size as the internal combustion model Q7, while the e-tron quattro (technically related to the internal combustion model Q5) and the upcoming Q6 e-tron (from Ingolstadt from 2023) are a class below. For Brussels – if the planning round next week agrees – the overflow production of the Q4 e-tron would be a great success. The plant had probably also bid for the production of Audi’s Artemis model, but lost out to VW Commercial Vehicles’ Hanover plant. If the information from Automobilwoche is correct here, Brussels would have prevailed against the German plant in Neckarsulm, where, according to the report, hopes had also been pinned on obtaining production of an electric vehicle model. https://www.electrive.com/2021/11/30/audi-considers-opening-extra-plant-for-the-q4-e-tron/

Ross Brawn credits the aim of F1 moving to fully sustainable fuels to seeing Audi and Porsche register their interest in joining the sport. It has long been known that the two German marques have been involved in discussions surrounding the new power unit formula to come into Formula 1 from the 2026 season, be it through entering as a constructor or power unit manufacturer. Brawn and Formula 1 have set out their targets for making the sport more sustainable in the next few seasons, which includes a plan to move to a carbon-neutral fuel to power the new engines. And the former Ferrari team principal said that element of the discussions are part of what is piquing Audi and Porsche’s interest. The meeting I’m going to now [with the FIA] is part of the initiative for sustainability and how we leverage the intense competition in Formula 1 and shape it into a direction that can have some relevance for the future,” Brawn said in a speech at the RACER / EPARTRADE Online Race Industry Week, per Racer.com. “We all know this massive environmental challenge we’re all facing, but I know from my experience of Formula 1 that if you set the 10 teams a challenge and make it a competitive challenge… So what we’re discussing is sustainable fuels. “So in 2026 at the latest — and maybe even earlier — you will have to race with a sustainable fuel, in other words a net carbon zero fuel. So the way that fuel is made, is produced, has to be net carbon zero. And this will be a plug in fuel that you would be able to put into a road car, so it’s another weapon in the fight against the environmental challenge. And we believe Formula 1 can set an example of how a sustainable fuel can be created and used, and that’s a big thing we’re working on now. So sustainability and the assistance and solutions we can find for the environmental challenge is the next phase of Formula 1. But that’s actually why we’re seeing manufacturers take a much stronger interest in the sport because they can see the value of that involvement, and it’s no secret to say Volkswagen with Porsche and Audi are having a very close look at Formula 1 and that’s one of the reasons why they’re interested. “And I think there’ll be more, so there’s no rest for the wicked I’m afraid!” A decision is yet to be taken by Audi or Porsche – which are both owned by Volkswagen – as to whether or not they will enter Formula 1, with discussions around the 2026 engine formula still ongoing. https://www.planetf1.com/news/ross-brawn-audi-porsche-f1-power-unit-interest/

As far as super estates go, the Audi RS6 Avant is hard to beat and over the years, it has also proved particularly popular in the aftermarket scene. As you probably already know, the current RS6 (as well as its predecessor) features a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 592 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. Make no mistake, this is more than enough power for the street and makes the RS6 one of the quickest-accelerating true family cars currently on sale. As is always the case, however, there are some who seek out additional performance and the owner of this RS6 is one of them. This RS6 Avant was featured in a recent video from Auditography and has been fitted with upgraded turbochargers, new intercoolers, an Eventuri air intake, and a remapped ECU. It also features an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system and is now churning out more than 1,000 hp and 750 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque, hitting 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.7 seconds and exceeding 210 mph (330 km/h). This could very well be the fastest RS6 on earth and it currently calls California home. Complementing the engine modifications are a number of visual upgrades, including the fitment of a MaxtonDesign bodykit that includes a unique front lip, side skirts, and rear bumpers. The car is also rocking a set of 22-inch forged wheels with a brushed bronze finish. Finally, a number of changes have been made to the car’s cabin, including the fitment of a carbon fiber steering wheel with shift lights.

Coin Spot-sponsored Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo victorious on Mount Panorma. Liam Talbot took his new Coin Spot-sponsored Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo to victory in Friday’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS season finale at Mount Panorama. Talbot got around the then-leading No. 4 Grove Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R of Stephen Grove with 20 minutes to go in the 60-minute contest, which featured two safety car periods for accidents on the mountain. Talbot shared top class honors with co-driver Fraser Ross. The No. 25 Audi emerged from the mid-race pit stop — which came during the second safety car period — in third and immediately got around the No. 9 Hallmarc Audi of Marc Cini on the restart with 25 minutes to go. Once in the lead, Talbot held off a hard-charging Brett Hobson in the No. 96 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 for victory. Hobson claimed top Am honors in the Trophy class, with the father-and-son Grove Porsche dropping to a fourth place overall finish after newly crowned Pro-Am class champion Yasser Shahin’s pass on Stephen Grove with less than ten minutes remaining. Shahin took the final restart in seventh after an impressive charge from the rear of the grid by co-driver Christopher Mies, who got the Valvoline-sponsored Audi from 15th up to fifth by Lap 4. Mies was forced to start last after missing Wednesday’s qualifying session due to serving a 72-hour hotel quarantine for the German. A slower pit stop, due to the car’s 15-second success handicap for winning Race 1, dropped Shahin down the order. Brad Schumacher, meanwhile, won the Trophy class championship with a seventh place finish. Three cars were eliminated from the race between two accidents, including a crash for the No. 888 Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Peter Hackett, which brought out the first yellow. https://sportscar365.com/sro/gtwc/australian-gt/audi-pairing-talbot-ross-win-race-2-at-bathurst/

This car is definitely a glimpse into the future of the automotive industry, and Audi made it to show what it is capable of and, of course, to brag about its ideas about how it considers a premium car should look. It's promising. Sure, some people will tilt their heads and cry about the old powerful gasoline engines. I am a petrolhead as well, and, as a former Audi owner, I do look down on this grandsphere concept car. It is not something that we'll see in a year or two, but some of the ideas showcased here will probably see daylight. Audi was saved by Volkswagen in the late '60s when it needed more production capacity for the Beetle. Then, it said, "OK, Audi, you may build the model 80." Fast forward a decade, and Audi was running on full steam, chasing BMW and Mercedes-Benz. In the late '70s, the carmaker became famous thanks to the quattro, which brought the all-wheel drive system into the spotlight by winning the World Rally Championship. But the chase was on, and Audi stepped into the upper segment. It did that with the 1998 V8 model and, from 1994, with the A8, which became its flagship model and a direct competitor for the 7-Series and the S-Class. But that wasn't all. Audi followed its German rivals in the crossover segment with the Q7 and, later on, with the Q8. The keyword here is "followed." But then, Audi charged and unveiled more and more vehicles that didn't have any direct competitor in neither BMW's nor Merc's stable. With the grandsphere, Audi takes another step forward. Maybe it's still behind the Mercedes-Benz EQS, but with its so-daring design and ideas, it might overtake it, provided Audi turns this concept car into production. At the front, the grandsphere's grille sports a hexagonal pattern with a light above. Thus, the car shows a distinct front fascia, unseen on other cars. Its narrow headlights resemble a pair of focused eyes. Between them, the carmaker installs the illuminated four circles that form the brand's logo. The same idea repeats at the back, but with a red logo between the taillights. Particular detail is in the circles' intersections, which are mimicked on the headlights as well. One of the biggest innovations brought by the grandsphere is on the sides, where the doors extend in an angular line towards the roof and feature a glass area. Thus, the interior receives more natural light from above. On the front doors, the design team placed a pair of cameras instead of rearview mirrors, similar to those from the e-tron range. Behind the greenhouse, the concept car features a roof spoiler with an unusual lower cut that allows the trunk's lid to open. But, once the twin doors open, the car reveals a spectacular interior. Sure, the rear-hinged rear doors might not get into production, but they look impressive. The cabin looks more like a business lounge, with bucket seats at the front and a bench for two in the back, that looks like a love seat. Also, there is no steering wheel! If that's not shocking, then I don't know what it is. But still, Audi claims that the grandsphere is a Level 4 autonomous vehicle, not a Level 5. Between the front seats, there is a center console that covers a storage area for two glasses and two water bottles. Also, there is an additional space for a plant. I mean, a real plant, not that kind of plastic flower offered as an option on a 2000's New Beetle. In front of the cabin, the car features a wood panel that serves as a screen for a laser projector. Here it can display a large infotainment screen where the occupants can see movies, the navigation system, the on-board computer data, and even support video calls. To activate various menus, the driver just has to look at a specific area, and a sensor placed in the upper middle section of the wooden panel will notice the eyes' movement. On the driver's door, there is a physical turning knob that serves as a controller for seat positions, a climate controller, and, next to it, a few buttons to open the menus selected by eye movement. Suppose the driver wants to drive the vehicle. In a blink of an eye, the wooden dash panel opens and brings a steering wheel to the driver. Only now they can drive the vehicle the old fashion way, with feet on pedals and hands on the wheel. But it is quite uncomfortable, since the driving position is very low, and the lower edge of the windshield is very high. As for the drivetrain, the grandsphere features a 120 kWh battery inside the floor, between the axles. Audi is well-known for its all-wheel-drive vehicles, and the concept car is no exception. Albeit, it uses two motors, instead of one on each corner, with a total output power of 530 kW (710 hp) and 960 Nm (708 lb-ft) of torque. Since the car is built on an 800-volt technology, it can be charged with on fast-charging stations. The car can charge from 5 to 80% in 25 minutes. With a full pack of batteries, it can travel up to 750 km (466 miles), but in 10 minutes can fill for 300 km (186 miles). Its 0 to 100 kph (0-62 mph) sprint is made in just over four seconds, while the top speed is capped, but the carmaker didn't say to which value. It might not be as quick as the Mercedes-AMG EQS, but still, it makes up a good impression for an electric car. Sure, some people will say that Audi will never build a production vehicle such as the grandsphere. But just remember, folks, more than three decades ago, there were a lot of nay-sayers who didn't believe Audi when it showed the ASF concept car, which eventually turned into the first A8 generation. Moreover, the Q7 was just a design idea, and it too turned into a production vehicle. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/the-grandsphere-offers-a-glimpse-into-the-future-of-audi-s-flagship-sedan-175745.html

How and why is this not covered under warranty? Whst excuse did they give. You should have some warranty with the work they've done on it.

I'd definitely look at the battery as a failing battery can cause starting issues especially if you're running heating systems etc whilst on start up. Companies like Halfords offer a free battery test. The usual life of a battery is 5-7 years. But if it's at the dealer they should find it. It's definitely in the best place.
