  1. I had this on my a6 c5. I had to have an auto electrician fix the central locking system and repair a broken wire in the system. My central locking is still hit and miss so I think my ccm is failing. However your car is a lot newer so I would definitely recommend a diagnostic check. Have you switched off the interior alarm? To see if it stops the main alarm going off. I ask as a fly or spider could set off the alarm via the interior sensors.
  2. Have you got a picture? This is whst I've found on Google.
  3. Hmm, now how is that fair. I'd be tempted to remove the stickers on my two old cars including my a6 out if principal.
  4. Now I've learnt something new 🙂
  5. My advice would be to look.at YouTube buyers videos. The mileage isn't a problem as long as it's been fully maintained. Unfortunately at the age mileage it's due another cambelt and water pump change I believe as it's every 5 years or 120k which ever comes first.
  6. Exactly so fingers crossed synthetic fuel is the way forward. Or as keith.has pointed out hydrogen could be an option. What ever vehicle drive option they chose it has to be something that has least impact on driver's behaviour. Which involves us filling up in 2 minutes and driving off and being able to drive for 600-1000 miles on a single tank. Unfortunately electric cars are at least 10 years away from this. Whereas synthetic fuel or hydrogen fuel would give you that range instantaneously. Plus for synthetic fuel or hydrogen there's less change required to infrastructure. You just need extra pumps and tanks at fuel stations. This would be cheaper which is better for the economy as well as having less impact on the environment.
  7. Truthfully my knowledge of RNS-E is limited, I believe you'd need the head unit, antenna, modules etc my advice would be to get a complete system from a similar car being broken. I think to add Bluetooth to rnse you'd need to plug something into the back maybe. The aftermarket touch screen units all come with Bluetooth as standard now and are double din.
  8. Needless to say I won't be getting rid of my fossil fuel cars but they way they'll get mine off the road is to tax me an extortionate amount. But this will be cancelled out if synthetic fuel takes off. F1 are going to be using it by 2024 so that shows you where motorsport is heading. Plus some are saying they want us minions off the roads which I can believe to an extent. However with most of us off the roads to government would lose one of its main revenue sources. Let's not forget that only a third of road tax is actually used to fix/upgrade the road network
  9. Nice! Sounds fun 🙂
  10. The standard sat nav from the era was RNS-E which can be retrofitted. But you wouldn't have Bluetooth. Alternatively you could look at having a new touch screen system installed with apple car play/Android auto etc and then you'd have both sat nav and Bluetooth. For installation of either you'd be looking at £300 for a professional install roughly.
  11. It might need a software update. Definitely worth asking to see if it needs one from Audi.
  12. My advice would be to get an auto electrician to take a look. However hate to be a barer of bad news but the UK government has changed the rules regarding vehicle lighting. I believe you a now not allowed to upgrade a car lighting system from what it was when it left the factory. It is/going to be an mot fail.
  13. Oh no, sorry to hear you've got another issue. Not heard of a scatter rally, what is it? Any pics? Have thought of entering my a6 into a couple of road rallies locally.
  14. What's the service history on it? Ideally this should be full. Check to see when the Cambelt was changed as it might need changing soon. Also check to see when the gearbox oil was changed. Make sure all electric items work. Also if it's got quattro make sure the tyres are worn evenly. A d ideally same make. Also check YouTube for buyers guides.
  15. Glad you got sorted in the nick of time! Guessing you can tell the difference.
  16. If it were me I'd just change the sensor. Cheapness could cost someone dearly. A d not just financially!
  17. My classic Ford escort is always backed into the garage. I also back into parking spaces as I find it easier.
  18. Full history key in my opinion. Tbe question is do you want a 3.0 or 2.0? 2.0 are more common to come by.
  19. You sure you've definitely got auto mirrors? Here's the retro fit info: https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/audi-a4-b8-electric-folding-mirrors.313320/
  20. The gearbox you're swapping in should be the same part number.
  21. To add satnav Audi will charge you around £500.
  22. Common problem on vag cars of this era. Mine is on the way out too.
  23. I watched it. Seeing the reduced range of the 9 year old leaf shows that electric cars aren't the future. As no one will want to keep a car which has an unpredictable range. As such I can see a cars life span being reduced from the current average of 13 years down to something like 7-8 years. Which will mean the production cost of the use of carbon will increase. I do not believe electric cars are the future. Synthetic fuel is the future. Plus free tax and cheap running costs will disappear once the majority have them. Road tax will be put on them, plus I can see the electric chargers will be monitored. Ie. Instead of paying one electric bill currently you will have two. Once for conventional electric use for home and a separate one for the car charger. The car charger will be a smart charger so they can know. At which point the government will engineer it so you Pay at least £60 for a full charge.
  24. You'll need a diagnostic check to see what fault codes flag up.
