Welcome to the forum David, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 ykur a3 certainly looks clean. You don't see many of the a3 8l models nowadays.
Also you're not too far from me as I'm in Syston. It's a quick run along the a50 etc 🙂

As it's leaking oil I wonder if it's a gasket?
Abd the oil may need changing as you'll loose some once you start separating the affected part.

the radio on top of the dash only came in on the 2013 and onwards. This model is known as the 8v. The model prior to 2013 is known as the 8p. They're both totally different cars.

yku can't go wrong with the usual upgraded air filter, sports exhaust and a remap which will all help increase bhp.

Ironically a family friend has now bought a velar abd it is a truly exceptional motor. You're definitely right not keeping it after the warranty period in my opinion. We've had defender 90 abd series landys in the past, they were cracking vehicles 🙂
Welcome to the forum Ian, sorry no one has got back to you sooner. Just out of curiosity what's stopping the wheel from fitting? Has it got a foam inner?

Piotr is right on regulating the height but coilovers do make a very firm ride. And my advice would be not to buy cheap rubbish.
Your other options are lowering springs with matching shocks from companies bsuch as KW, H&R or Eibach.
How low you thinking of going? Abd what's your budget?
Obviously for ultimate stance you could go on air ride but you need deep pockets.
