The key question you have to ask yourself is do you get more car for your money with the a5 or cla. I know you mentioned the engine/gearbox choice and option pack you could have for the a4 but I would say go with the car that's best value for money. Including spec, better mechanicals etc. Cheers Steve

Don't always knock independent non Audi specialist garages. My a6 has been going to the same one since it was 3 years old and we've owned it from new. The car is now 18 years old with 332k miles on the clock with the original engine and gearbox which have never been rebuilt. Here's a YouTube video which might help: Cheers Steve

I'd be getting it to a garage for them to repair and replace the affected parts.

Think they're rare so my advice would be to check eBay, Facebook market place on a regular basis. Or you could try Audi, you be we know they may still have some left!

Good point I'm not sure. I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and just get it to a garage.

You'll be surprised, and if they're reluctant fight them on it. A part like that shouldn't go either in or just out of warranty. Plus as you can see there's now a few documented cases which you and Audi are both aware of.
