  1. Its Jonny English reborn! Your turn with your film now Paul :)
  2. Lol tell me about it! This weather is starting to really get on my nerves now!!! Don't worry I'll still be going to the show! No rain can stop me lol 😂
  3. Glad I could help (kind of!)
  4. Hi Dan, sorry this topic has been missed. Can't you just mark all the pullies and cams with a white marker of some sort? I've found this YouTube video which may help: Cheers Steve
  5. Certainly is daylight robbery! Sounds like this a8 is in good hands :) Deffo! It's the only way we learn, ie from each other :)
  6. Welcome to the forum Mike, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) I believe the bumper and grill on the a3 in the picture is a facelift model. The facelifted a3 8p was released 2008. For you to facelift your a3 you'll need the updated bumper, grill, headlights, bonnet and front wings. Hope I've helped :) Cheers Steve
  7. Hmm, odd how the dealer is telling you to go straight to Audi. Seems like he is trying to wash his hands of you and the car. The dealer should be fixing it not audi.in my opinion. If the dealer is being funny then I'd say take it back. There are plenty of a3 8p convertibles out there ;) Cheers Steve
  8. You're welcome :) The car must have taken a fair wack for it to be classed as a cat d! New the car would have been 80-90k new so it would have had to have sustained damage of approx 10-20k I'd say at a guess. For total loss insurance companies go up to approx 50% of the cars worth. At a guess at a year old the car would have been worth approx 40-50k depending on exact spec. So total loss would have been approx half that. Hope I'm not boring you! That's a good idea with regard to the cylinders. Fingers crossed it's not seized. I do hope the steering column is a simple fix too. £1200 for a new one from Audi is extortionate! Cheers Steve
  9. Nope, but good guess! The film is Abit older than that.
  10. I wondering if there's a fault with.a valve or.inlet manifold but I am just guessing here.
  11. Nope! It's a spy film/comedy if that helps :)
  12. Welcome to the forum, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Wow, it's been stood virtually since new! What's the cars story? Plus you have to wonder why it was parked up at a year old with a steering column fault and not taken to the dealer under warranty for repair? It does sound like it's the column at fault and I wonder if it can be repaired? Also I'm assuming you've ruled the keys out as the possible cause? I say this as they may need reprogramming if the car and keys have sat for over 10 years. This would also be a cheaper option than replacing the column. I'd say you'd be right to do a crank by hand and you'll quickly know if the engine is seized. Once you've established it is free then I'd carry out a full service on the engine including a new battery, cambelt and water pump + tensioner. Once you've don't that then it's worth seeing if it'll start normally. Fingers crossed :) Keep us posted on how things progress and we'd love to see some pics of your a8 :) Cheers Steve
  13. Welcome to the forum Chris, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) The key question is, have you spoken to the dealer where you bought it from? And if so what have they said? We're you aware of any of the issues when you bought it? If it were me I'd be taking the car back from where I bought it for them to inspect it. Also I would monitor the coolant to see if you loose any more. Is there any smoke coming out of the exhaust and if so what colour is it? Obviously if you are buying a new engine you have to be certain on the history of it and especially that it's had the recall. Cheers Steve
  14. Hi Jas, Unfortunately there does not appear to be any workshop manuals for the 8v. However some members have bought Elsawin of eBay. This software is similar to what the dealers use and should cost you around £10 on ebay. Obviously check the sellers feedback rating before buying. However I can't say I've ever used it myself. Cheers Steve
  15. Any update on your issue Scott? Did you speak to Audi? Cheers Steve
  16. Yep, I believe you are correct Shahin :)
  17. The 5.2 s6 engine is a detuned version of what they put in the rs6 and Lamborghini Gallardo. It's a lovely sounding engine! And I agree it would put a smile on my face too, it's just the economy factor which is why I drive diesel.
  18. Yep parts department would be best :) as they'll have a scematic of the parts required. Cool, I'll add you to the list :) Cheers Steve
  19. Welcome to the forum Sam, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) The 1.6 petrol has a cambelt and I'm 99% certain the cambelt interval is every 4 years or 60k, which ever comes first. In my opinion it should have been changed by now, but my advice would be if there's no proof of it being carried out then just change it to be on the safe side. Don't forget you'll need to change the tensioner and water pump at the same time. Also I've moved this thread to the a3 8,p section to make it easier for other members to follow. Cheers Steve
  20. Hmm, I do wonder whether the issue is mechanical in sonebway. Remind me again, is the car running ok?
  21. As I say, asking Audi might be your best bet. Nice one! Shall I put your name down for vag tuner live (if it isn't already!) Cheers Steve
