Long life is 20k or 2 years if memery serves me well. But obviously you can have it done sooner. Hmm, does the handbook say whether or not not 12.5 is a good voltage?

Sounds like you're getting a nice allroad :) shame about the wheels but they can be refurbished. Maybe the garage can do this for you :) Hope my advice further up the thread was useful to you :) Cheers Steve

Hi Niz, I'd say ebc or brembo pads could give you better braking performance than the standard pads as long as you go for the fast road version of their pads. Cheers Steve

You're welcome :) Let's hope that this clutch is better. It could just be a faulty batch of clutches which wouldn't be unheard of. I'll also be intrigued to see what they flag up on the free health check they carry out. Do you know when the gearbox oil was last changed? Keep us posted on how you get on. Cheers Steve

This is a regular meet on the 3rd Sunday of every month starting on the 15th April. I intend to go one day to see what it's like but it won't be the 15th. Wow! Small world I live in Syston and I'm actually coming over to Loughborough today! We should have a meet up as I know another a1 owner who lives out our way :) In terms of exhausts my best mate had a powerflow stainless steel exhaust system fitted to his Renault megane a few years ago and it sounded good! It was fitted by Mr tyre in Leicester and was a custom cat back system. He said he could choose the backbox and even the sound due to the baffels that we're fitted inside it. Welcome to the forum Chris, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) I have to say it's the first time I've heard of 2 clutches going inside 34k miles. When it went to Audi the second time did they take the gearbox out or just replaced the clutch and DMF? I'm assuming the gear changes are smooth? Cheers Steve

Welcome to the forum Ryan, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Thr s line had it's own style of bumpers and suspension. If you are changing the bumpers is might be worth you looking at s3 bumpers :) As yours is a standard model you could also fit s line suspension which would lower the car slightly. Cheers Steve

The question is then, whether or not you want to order a new emergency key. But I have to say in 16 years of my family owning my a6 (my dad, then me) we have never used the emergency key. When you contacted Audi did they tell you whether or not it had had long life services? Normally the service plan goes: minor, major and so on. That's a result if you have a battery tester :) that may save you a few quid :) Cheers Steve

I wondering then if it's some rubber bush that's failing or CV joint etc? I dont think it's driveshafts as this would make a knocking noise instead of a scrubbing noise. Cheers Steve

Glad I could help (kind of) Andy and glad it's not the battery at fault as this at least narrows down your search. I am also aware that on certain Audi models the headlight ballast box can fail and it might be worth seeing if this is what's wrong. It is about of a guess though. A diagnostic check is a good idea and one you have the fault codes you could always consider taking your car to an auto electrician (,if applicable) as this should be a cheaper option than Audi. Right, Question 2. You should have 2 remote keys and an emergency key which is a plastic strip with the key part on the end. If that makes sense? Usually this was kept in the glovebox but owners would remove them as theives cottoned onto the fact this emergency key was in the glovebox. I can't say I've ever heard of deregistering a key but I suspect ordering a new one would bit be cheap. If you do want a new one then this needs sourcing from Audi. Question 3. Audi will have on record all work that has been carried out on your car over the last 10 years and this will include servicing, MOT, warranty and recall work. You should be able to go into any Audi main dealer to get this information. They can also tell you what serve plan the car was on, ie long life or not. You may also be able to ting out to get all this info but I think owners have found it hit and miss as staff aren't always willing to divulge information over the phone due to confidentiality and data protection act etc. I would like to think that as it's been serviced at an independent garage for the last 2 services then there should be paperwork to back this up? You are right in saying that there are 2 types of audi service plan and normally the car will stay on the plan it was assigned when new regardless of the miles you cover. Most VAG cars are on long life servicing now. I would like to think that this info is on.the paperwork for the last service and in failing that I'd ring the garage to confirm which servicing schedule it's on. Question 4. If you are still.on.the orginal battery and the car being 10 years old then I'd say it will be due for replacement soon. The average life expectancy of a battery is 5-7 years. You could always take it to halfords for them to check the battery as they can test it. Also I believe the battery us under the passenger seat, but don't quote me on that. You're welcome :) the other option could be to try a local breakers yard as they'll be getting cars in all the time with service history and the handbooks 😉
