Hi Pete, I'm assuming you mean the rubber cap that covers the bulb after you've changed it? Also water in the light cluster is die to failed light seals. However some members have found drilling small holes I to the bottom of the cluster solves the problem. Cheers Steve

Well if you get the cambelt and water pump carried out at Audi, you might be able to bag a free diagnostic check ;) if you don't ask you don't get. As I say, there might be some factory good will.on.the door component that has failed as it shouldn't have failed so soon. They'll do a free vehicle health check as well. Cheers Steve

Better to get it done to be on the safe side. As Adam has said though, Audi dealers can do it at a fixed price and it's definitely worth ringing around your local.dealers to see who can do it cheaper :) it'll be a cambelt and water pump change. Cheers Steve

Hello Thaddeus, it certainly is an odd combination for your TT however the colour looks amazing! The e39 is a cracking BMW and no surprise it's a keeper! Best 5 series in my opinion :) The normal headlights are more than adequate in my opinion. With any car you're looking at, make sure all electronic items work as some of them can be expensive to fix. This includes the air con and headlights. If the car has xenons then make sure all likes work as bulbs can cost £180 approx each. Also as you are wanting a car with Quattro make sure it works correctly. The system can be sensitive and can even be damaged by uneven tyre wear. So make sure the tyres have the same wear on the same axle and ideally they should be the same make. If you are looking at a remap then you'll need to make sure the car is in good health. Also you'll have to contact your insurance company to let them know of the remap. (Sorry if I'm stating the obvious). It isn't just a case of what the engine can cope with but what the gearbox can cope with. I've found this YouTube video which may help: Also if you want Quattro and more power then it might be worth you looking at the a6 c6. Petrol engines are 2.0, 2.4, 3.2 and are all available with a manual gearbox and Quattro. this excludes the s6 and rs6 which runs on a Lamborghini v10 and is auto. Hope I've helped :) Cheers Steve

Hey Malcolm, you're making a great choice. The D4 a8 is a gorgeous car :) Obviously with any purchase check the service history and ideally this should be full especially on Audi's flag ship model. Obviously make sure all electronic items work as some of them can be expensive to fix. This goes for the headlights which will use HID bulbs which are £180 per bulb approx. The a8 you're looking at my also have adaptive cruise control. This is great when it's working but any faults can be very expensive to fix. Bills to repair this can run into hundreds or even thousands of pounds depending on fault. It also requires a 4 wheel alignment for recalibration. Also make sure that the auto gearbox changes gears smoothly in auto and manual mode as any issues can be expensive to fix. With the kind of money you are spending it's probably worth you getting an independent inspection carried out. Companies such as the AA and RAC offer this service. If the seller is reluctant or refuses an independent inspection to be carried out then you have to wonder what they or the car has to hide. Most likely the a8 you're looking at has Quattro and it is important that this works correctly as quattro is a sensitive system and can be damaged by factors such as uneven tyre wear,/miss matched tyres on the same axle. In light of this make sure the tyres are wearing evenly and the tyres match on the axle. Most a8 vehicles were personalised by the first owner and certain options are rare and nice to have such as rear tv screens but it's better to find a car with the option then looking at getting it fitted at a later date. This is because it may not be financially viable/sensible to get options retro fitted. I've also found this YouTube video which may offer you further advice :) Hope I've helped :) Cheers Steve

I know my a6 is alot older than yours but when I had issues with my central locking I had an auto electrician have a look and they found that the drivers door mechanism needed fixing. I then found out that the drivers door mechanism controls the rest of the central locking system. This also applies to other Audi models but unsure if it applies to the c7. It cost me £120 to fix the issue. As I say though, and in my opinion it could be the drivers door lock, passenger door lock or the central locking module. Cheers Steve

Wow! The e39 is the last of the proper BMWs :) and best 5 series in my opinion. great engine and great car :) my friends dad had a blue 528i with cream leather and the AC schnitzer body kit and wheels. Was an early model on a S plate :)
