  1. Hi Jonesy, I've not had any experience with drl myself butI I've found these videos on YouTube which may help Or this video from the UK.... Hopefully other members might be able to offer some more advice :) Cheers Steve
  2. Hi Dragos, Sorry to say but I'd expect the worst. Not only that but I'd suspect it may require both clutch and flywheel. Worst case scenario you could have damaged the Quattro system. The Quattro system is very clever but it can be sensitive. Even uneven Tyre wear can damage it! I'd get this sorted sooner rather than later. Cheers Steve
  3. Hey Kaie, Sorry no one has answered this question for you. For a kick off this car sounds a great spec! Obviously if you want the panoramic roof you'll have to specifically order the car and normally you wait 3 extra months for this. In terms of the advanced key it might be worth asking the dealer if they can fit this whilst the car is being built as retrofitting them, despite possible is a nightmare. I say this as your car would need new key modules, approx 5 sensors adding to each door including the boot, sensor in the dash, wiring loom adding to the door handles, the mmi upgrading. Then on.top of that you'll need the necessary computer coding. From reading around on internet the hypthetical cost is in the region of £1700 Hope IV helped Cheers Steve
  4. Your most welcome :) glad I was useful :) Cheers Steve
  5. Your welcome :)
  6. Your welcome, I just hope IV helped :) I would normally look.on ebay as you've done or look for similar aged cars on eBay that are being broken for spares. In failing that I think Audi might be your last option. Cheers Steve
  7. I believe cars started to be fitted with dpfs 2008 on as the new emissions regs came in 2009. The problem with dpfs is if you only do town driving g they can clog with so and break. Dpf fitted cars need a good run once a week to keep the dpf clear unless you do a lot of motorway/high speed driving. Egrs and egr coolers are also for emissions. They can fail and can cost around d £1100 to replace. If your car has the emissions recall then you run the risk of egr/egr cooler failure. I believe there should be a sticker in the wheel well which may tell.you if your car is dpf fitter but don't quote me on this. Cheers Steve
  8. Welcome to the forum :) You'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Nice looking car btw :) In my.opinion the mpg you obtained is about right for the car to be honest. You possibly could get higher mpg with smaller wheels but would the cost of new wheels outway the mpg gain? Cheers Steve
  9. Thanks :) Just to add i.did work.in a Volkswagen service department but can't say I had ant experience with gen 2 start stop as it's been a while! I would suspect as with an awfull lot of car related issues these days, all.that may be required is a computer update on the software that's affected. However who.knows when this could be. As I say I think if Audi were to have and is your car for a week.yhey would be able to see the fault. I found d when I was at Volkswagen this often helped find intermittent faults. Especially if the cars ecu hasn't picked up.on it!. Keep.us posted :) Cheers Steve
  10. Right, my mechanic uses fully synthetic 5w 30 oil. Specifically it's a General Motors oil specially designed for Audi and Mercedes cars. I know that sounds crazy but my mechanic swears by it and has been putting it in the a6 for years. I suppose the proof is in the pudding in the fact my car has covered 328k miles without an engine rebuild and has never we been apart. It's on the second turbo which blew at 75k so it's done 270k on one turbo. Needless to say this oil seems awesome! Hope IV helped :) Cheers Steve
  11. Your welcome :) il have an answer within the hour :) and it sure is Dan! ;)
  12. Your welcome, glad o could help :) From what Phil has said from info on the Audi website, it sounds like to me your car is failing to reengage the engine when the brake pedal is released. It sounds to me Audi have over complicated the system. Oh I'd also look at what recalls other vag cars have had as it could be a similar story with Volkswagen, seat and skoda too. Cheers Steve
  13. Hi dan, I dont know what oil is in mine off hand but I'll ask my mechanic :) it must be good though as mines done 328k lol
  14. Oh dont worry my a6 is being rebuilt, love the car too much!
  15. Well in basic terms £6000 has been spent on mine in 18months and someone crashed into the back of me. I was slowing down to 20mph in a 30mph zone for a car turning ahead of me and a Volvo hit me doing approx 50mph. My a6 got shunted down the road and now I'm looking at mine being written off. I'm getting it rebuilt however. I'll be doing a whole topic on this once it's sorted though as I don't want to affect legal proceedings.
  16. Hi Max welcome to the forum :) You'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) I've found this thread on another site which might be useful to you :) http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/444518-B5-Tiptronic-Info-and-FAQ Hope it helps :) Cheers Steve
  17. I know what your going through. I'm in the same boat with my a6 currently. It is both frustrating and upsetting! I can't say too much on mine currently due to the ongoing sarga but once it's done I'll do a whole topic of my story. Needless to say it's caused chaos ATM for me. So I can fully sympathise with you. Let's hope it gets sorted quickly Cheers Steve
  18. I'd always want a spare wheel as let's face it, if you buckle your wheel when you puncture the Tyre, no amount of foam can fix that! But then again is £175 for a spare wheel cheaper than your break down cover? This would need to weighed up against how long you keep your car if you see what I mean? Cheers Steve
  19. Sorry you've had this, you've really had some bad luck with this a3! £500 doesn't sound d too bad to be honest. Cheers Steve
  20. Hi Mark, I find it odd that both have cracked. I assume your car has never had an accident? I wonder if this is due to heat from the bulbs? Might be worth seeing if they a8 had any recalls regarding the number plate lights. Hence why you can only find ones with one screw. These may be updated versions. Hope this all makes sense. Cheers Steve
  21. For me if the system is working normally then it clearly is daft! For Audi to tell you not to use start stop defeats the point of trying to be more eco friendly. If you use dash cams it might be worth you recording so that you have evidence of the issue. Dont worry about writing a long message, as it is clearly worrying you. I'm wondering though if your car were manual whether this issue would be there at all? At which point it could be the s tronic box not liking gen 2 start stop. If this is the case then potentially the issue may not just be related to the Q3. It might be worth you researching these issues in similar models. Or check what recalls Audi have had this yeat. Please keep us posted :) Cheers Steve
  22. Your welcome :) hope it was useful :)
  23. Hi Rob, iv found this on youtube. Apologies it's American but it may help Iv also found this website with some info that might help http://www.jltechno.com/en/alignment_specs.php?brand=AUDI(EUR)&ModelName=A7,(PR=1BS),HD+A/S&ModelID=105255 Cheers :) Steve
  24. Hi Phil welcome to the forum :) You'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) For me something doesn't sound quite right. I'm questioning whether start stop should even kick in when the car is still in motion? And it failing to reengage is clearly an issue. Am i right in thinking that when you go to pull away and accelerate (try to) the hill hold disengages and the engine does not start? If so I would say there is something clearly wrong and the car should go back to Audi. I suspect they have only had the car a day? If so they may need it longer (5 days?) So that it can be road tested alot more by them. Keep us posted on how you get on. Cheers Steve
  25. I have to agree with Gareth on this. Once the sump has been damaged in this way there is no reversing the damage I'm afraid. I believe VAG use 2 different types of sump plugs and clearly the wrong one has been fitted. Just think if you'd bodge it, would you really have piece of mind motoring from there one? I know I wouldn't. It might be worth speaking to the garage who carried out the work and see what they have to say. Keep us posted on how you get on as this must be infuriating! Cheers Steve
