Hi Mark, I find it odd that both have cracked. I assume your car has never had an accident?
I wonder if this is due to heat from the bulbs? Might be worth seeing if they a8 had any recalls regarding the number plate lights. Hence why you can only find ones with one screw. These may be updated versions. Hope this all makes sense.
Cheers

For me if the system is working normally then it clearly is daft! For Audi to tell you not to use start stop defeats the point of trying to be more eco friendly.
If you use dash cams it might be worth you recording so that you have evidence of the issue.
Dont worry about writing a long message, as it is clearly worrying you. I'm wondering though if your car were manual whether this issue would be there at all? At which point it could be the s tronic box not liking gen 2 start stop. If this is the case then potentially the issue may not just be related to the Q3.
It might be worth you researching these issues in similar models. Or check what recalls Audi have had this yeat.
Please keep us posted :)
Cheers

Hi Phil welcome to the forum :)
You'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :)
For me something doesn't sound quite right. I'm questioning whether start stop should even kick in when the car is still in motion? And it failing to reengage is clearly an issue.
Am i right in thinking that when you go to pull away and accelerate (try to) the hill hold disengages and the engine does not start?
If so I would say there is something clearly wrong and the car should go back to Audi. I suspect they have only had the car a day? If so they may need it longer (5 days?) So that it can be road tested alot more by them.
Keep us posted on how you get on.
Cheers

I have to agree with Gareth on this. Once the sump has been damaged in this way there is no reversing the damage I'm afraid. I believe VAG use 2 different types of sump plugs and clearly the wrong one has been fitted.
Just think if you'd bodge it, would you really have piece of mind motoring from there one? I know I wouldn't. It might be worth speaking to the garage who carried out the work and see what they have to say.
Keep us posted on how you get on as this must be infuriating!

Hi Paul and Steve,
Thank you for the replies.
After thinking about David’s reply I am going to contact the dealer and get written permission to have the dashcams hardwired into the fuse box
after I get that approval which then can’t be reneged on, I’ll choose out of the Thinkware & Blackvue options as they seem to be the best
👍🎯🏆
Your welcome glad we could help :)

Hi Jay from what I've heard they are pretty good, but do t forget to try eBay. You can find suppliers selling genuine new mats at cheaper prices :)
Personally though I've always used hAlford's £25 rubber mats. They've been more than suitable and have lasted more than 10 years!

Hey Jay, unsure if it will help but we had a topic on dash cans/dash cam footage recently. Here's the link
It might be useful it might not but thought I'd let you know :)
I've not used dash cams myself so can't really help, sorry.

Hey Nayan sorry to hear of your bad news. I too live in Leicester and in terms of breakers yards I use HM spares which are near there redhill roundabout/mcdonalds. Cracking bunch and I was there the other day. Might be worth you giving them a call.
There address is Wesley street, Leicester, le45qg. Contact: 01162666660 There stock moves on monthly basis just for info. I'll be speaking to them about a couple of bits for my a6 I can see if they have anything.
I also used to use R&Z autosalvage in Loughborough they are on pavilion way off jubilee drive le115wg they're near to the B&q if my memory serves me well. Contact: 01509 237227
Hope IV helped :)

Nah not really it's a TV series called Heartland. It's pretty good actually. We're now watching season 10! And I do enjoy it but to be fair I'm a country boy at heart :) what about you?

You've chosen a nice car with a good engine :)
Egr blanking plate is a common mod my question to you is whether or not you've had the car remapped since?
Normally if you blank the egr the car will naturally pick up a fault with it because the car thinks it's not working if that makes sense?
A remap will switch off the cars brain in connection to the egr so that no warning lights come up on the dash or on the computer.
By the way you'd be looking at approx £300 for a remap. This is cheaper than replacing the egr and egr cooler which could cost around £1100. If you do replace the egr you'd be better off going with genuine Audi parts as some of the aftermarket variants have been know to fail just outside of warranty.
Hope IV helped :)
Cheers

Your most welcome :)
Taking your time is the best way! :)
Oh I forgot to say that if your looking at an a4 with full Audi history then the history will be fully recorded with Audi so you can check what work has been carried out on it :)
Don't worry, the best thing to do is buy the best condition, low mileage example you can :)
Mileage?
If your referring to mpg then round town I'd say high twenties to mid thirties but motorway runs or similar any where from low forties to mid fifties
If mileage is referring to longevity of the engine then again this would depend on how well maintained the vehicle has been. For example my 2.5tdi has done 328k on the original engine but again this is due to no expense spared philosophy. My family have owned my a6 since new. Whereas IV seen similar a6 's that are currently being broken with less than half that mileage. Generally the 2.0 litre lump is reliable and 200k is achievable :)
Hope that's helped :)
