  2. Welcome to the forum Peter :) I would have to agree with Gareth on this one. Vag cars are normally now on long life servicing and as such require a service ever 20k or 2 years. As such I would wait until the car says it requires a service. Cheers steve
  3. Welcome to the forum Rob :) youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) is your a3 a manual or auto? Abd who is ther service history with? I ask this because if Audi have serviced it then you can ring them and find out. Ideally ring the dealer who's worked on the car :) I myself have never heard of a maintenance free gearbox, but I'm sure the more experienced members will be able to help there. Cheers steve
  4. Your welcome and glad you got sorted :)
  5. Wow! all three are awesome! :) and they're all in great condition:)
  6. Not a problem Paul! Hope iv helped :) keep us posted :) cheers steve
  7. Welcome to the forum Paul :) sorry to hear your having issues. Without sounding stupid does the hub have a multiple holes. I.e. More than 5? If so you've probably lined the wheel up with the wrong holes. As all the holes are not evenly spaced. I assume Audi do this so various wheels can be fitted to one hub. If that makes sense? I know this might sound like a stupid suggestion but iv done this with my a6 before, that's how I know it can be done. I spent 30mins lining the wheel up to the wrong holes! Hope iv helped. Cheers steve
  8. Welcome to the forum David :) sorry to hear your Audi hasn't come with the parcel shelf. Hope your son is pleased with his Audi! :) youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) the s3 one should fit but I'm unsure about the 5 door one to be honest. Cheers steve
  9. Hmm in which case if it were me I'd change them all. What some owners are doing is having their engine ecu remapped to removed the ea189 and to improve the drivability of their Audis :) might be worth you looking into in the future :) iv worked in a Volkswagen service department and from what iv seen I would not have the update done. I saw cars with dpf issues, egr/egr cooler issues and one car died. To be honest Edd im not sure which set up you have. Sorry. But I assume your garage must have a minimum labour time/rate? Cheers steve
  10. Your welcome :) i believe the c7 has a different box :) i also believe the 2.0tdi is one of the engines that consumes oil. My dad as a 66 plate Passat with the 2.0tdi engine and it likes to consume oil. Just to make you aware :) cheers steve
  11. Welcome to the forum:) youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) with regard to the c6 auto boxes it's the cvt ones you have to watch. I also believe the c7 Diesel engines use more oil than the older a6 engines. Cheers steve
  12. Welcome to the forum Martyn :) youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) nice looking a3 by the way :) first thing I'd do is check your warranty paperwork as I wouldn't be surprised if the warranty is a separate company. If so your best bet is to check the list you would have been given to see if airbags or electrics are covered. If it is through the garage then I'd take it back to them. With regard to the airbag light it could be a simple case of a loose wire or even a faulty passenger airbag switch in which case it wouldn't be expensive to fix. Obviously if it were an airbag then this will be an expensive repair. But also I'd be checking the car for any previous accident damage. Hope iv helped :) cheers steve
  13. Hey Ed, sorry to hear you had the update done. With regard to the glowplugs, when were they last changed? If they weren't changed recently my thoughts would be to change all 4. Especially if the garage are going to charge you the same labour time. Hope iv helped :) Cheers steve :)
  14. Hello Justin :) im not surprised you love your q7, they are awesome! Im wondering if the creeking could be the ball joints or suspension bushes? Cheers steve
  15. Welcome to the forum! :) You'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) your coupe looks gorgeous! Shes in amazing condition and you can tell you look after her! Your more than welcome to display your coupe at up and coming events with the club on our displays :) cheers steve
  16. Welcome to the forum Robert :) sorry to hear your having issues. What Audi and Piotr have said is all true. The dpf filter clogs up with soot and particulates from short journeys and is only burned off once the engine and exhaust get really hot. We have dpf filters thanks to the stricter and stricter emissions rules and regs. E never had this issue 15 years ago! I am surprised Audi did not tell you about the dpf and how a diesel is not best suited for short driving. I know when worked in car sales I mentioned it to customers so they were aware. They should have recommended a petrol for you! If the fan is permanently on and as you've had that message it might be worth you taking the car to Audi for them to look at it. Bare in mind though they may not want to cover the cost of the dpf is broken due to it becoming too clogged. The dpf is not cheap to fix and they'll try and replace it which will cost £1000 or more I'd say. Hope iv helped cheers steve
  17. This trip sounds awesome Chris! Nice to see your keeping the Audi 90 and getting it back on n the road! :) if your like me you can get sentimental with cars. The only downside is that it gets very expensive! Feel free to share some pics of your 90, I'm sure members would love to see it! Also Once you have got it back on the road, feel free to come and attend events with us! Would be great to have your 90 on our club stand! :) cheers steve
  18. Welcome to the forum :) youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) your a6 looks stunning by the way! :) cheers steve
  19. Welcome to the forum Alan :)
  20. Looks very nice Dave! :) im assuming you've decided not to change your wheels cheers steve
  21. Keep us posted as I'd be very interested in what they say! Cheers steve
  22. Welcome to the forum James :) sorry to hear your having issues, but you'll find members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) your right compressors sent cheap! For my old a6 the repair would be around £1000! The only other thing that could be wrong is that the heater panel is stuck on warm despite you turning the knob to cold if that makes sense. Cheers steve
  23. Listening to the other ones is a good idea! The system should be the same or very similar :) cheers steve
  24. Welcome to the forum Craig :) sory to hear your having issues. But you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) i personally am not aware of driveshaft issues on the a3 but on the same token it abounds like the car is engaging gears. Have you tried it in manual mode? Cheers steve
  25. Well it should be good as it's low mileage and bought from a main dealer! 🤔 Im not sure about the backlash to be honest as iv not had much experience with the Quattro system. Sorry. With regard to the car resisting reverse this could either be the gear synchromesh not connecting properly or the gear linkages. My mum had a similar issue with her merc at 7k miles and they had to replace the synchromesh due to a design fault. In our case we kept pestering Mercedes to look at it and in the end they found the fault. If I were you I'd do the same with Audi. Hope iv helped :) cheers steve
