It running is a positive. When running what's the engine doing? Ie rough idling, stuttering etc.

Would it be worth wiring it in with your day time running lights?

Have you checked the high pressure fuel pump too?

As Audi are claiming an issue with the cluster id recommend you look at instrument cluster repair specialists local to you.

Hasn't it got to pumps? The one in the tank and the high pressure fuel pump. I'd like to think there'd be a code for this. Could it be an imobiliser issue?

Yep same part number cd player shouldn't need coding. Regarding the camera id recommend you speak to auto retrofits or autologics about what's involved.
