  1. I get where your coming from as I've got the same issue but with my engine. Been a nightmare. As long as it's the same gearbox type so not based off code if that makes sense (like the same engine has different engine codes) it will physically fit. But it's the coding and the module that might be the problem you choose a different gearbox code. Plus let's not forget gear rations could be slightly different. I can appreciate it's 3x the price, but if you fit a gearbox that's a different code and then the gearbox module needs recoding or replacing, it it doesn't work then it's just wasted money if you see what I mean.
  2. Could be a brake pedal switch. Alternatively get an auto electrician to check the wiring for the system.
  3. Also bare in mind cars made during the pandemic are sometimes lacking kit or gained other bits.
  4. It will have been an extra, most likely via a tech pack. You're best contacting the respective dealer regarding if the car has it once you've found one you're interested in.
  5. Glad it's been helpful 🙂
  6. I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. Or get an auto electrician to check the power.
  7. Keep us posted on how you get on
  8. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 Not sure if it'll work. If it can it'll need coding to the car
  9. Well if they're covering half the bill that's a good thing.
  10. I do t think there's a simple way to repair it. The best two options is to replace the trim or wrap it.
  11. Yep in theory. The roof rails will be bolted on though
  12. Have you looked on eBay?
  13. Genuine one will be better quality. £1000+ is fairly common. You could get a remap to get the dpf map out but bare in mind this can cause the engine internal temps to run hotter which runs the risk of causing other damage into the engine.
  14. If you've bought this within the last 30 days then it's the dealer who sold the car responsibility to fix it FOC as you're entitled to a full refund In the first 30 days after sale. As technically the car isn't fit for purpose. Audi sounds like they're spot on with diagnosis but you could always get a second opinion. The other reason it'd struggle to select a great could be because of a warn gear linkage
  15. Has a search on eBay and these ones popped up: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404517437274?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=mhcvke1eq4s&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=IE07kO4STZy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196432026136?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Kzw8DuHOTlu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=IE07kO4STZy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/375441884747?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=geiijcierze&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=IE07kO4STZy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Can't say I've got any experience with any of them though
  16. Please keep us posted on how you get on
  17. Could it be an injector, engine mount? Definitely worth considering getting the gearbox serviced if no proof of it being done up to now
  18. Yep it can be done, I'd recommend you look on eBay for the parts.
  19. Definitely recommend getting it to a main dealer. Could it be an issue with the synchromesh, linkage or an issue with the quattro system.
  20. Yes definitely
  21. Thanks Cliff, I'll keep you posted. Strangely only side doing all this is there more if a water smell in the car now 😬 hoping it's temporary.
  22. Following on from this cliff, I'd noticed the dehumidifier had slipped slightly and wasn't sitting upright. Which has ultimate got the rest seat wet 🤦‍♂️ I've moved it to the floor so it's fully upright. So we'll see if that makes any difference
  23. Well said Steve, cars are far too expensive now and people don't want to spend their money on something they fear the government will outlaw (diesel). People are keeping cars longer. And I believe the only way we will be able to have diesel and petrol cars in the future are classics which aren't so dependent on computers and can be fixed easier and parts availability is plentiful. Such as Land rover defenders, mercedes w123, mercedes w124 etc. For my next daily I'm genuinely considering a tax exempt vehicle like a land rover 110 I can modernise with later defender bits such as heated seats, windscreen etc, galvanized chassis etc. That way I can run a tax exempt vehicle but has some mod cons to keep the wife happy. You can still get bits for mercedes w123 from main dealers despite them going out of production in 1985. Let's also not forget, the European manufacturers and governments are scared on Chinese electric cars as they are cheaper and potentially better quality. This is why the Chinese are getting fines I believe when they try to sell them in Europe. As well as the problem of not having the infrastructure for everyone to have an electric car. But either way I believe long term government plans are to have us all out of cars. The maniacs are definitely running things and I fear we're heading towards regimes similar to that seen during WW2 in Germany, Italy or later in the USSR.
  24. Unfortunately they're not all the same. You'll need someone to remove the current one with specialist tools. Or Audi can supply a replacement based off your vin.
