  1. It's just you say there is 3 things, 1,judder and 2, vibration could be fueling issues for sure, though injector wise I would guess the vibration would be more obvious, particularly at lower revs. Its thing 3, the noise. That's what's throwing me, unless there are actually two issues?? If the noise is caused by a pump chain I don't see how that would cause the physical symptoms. Head scratcher. If it is two separate issues, then the judder could also be coming from a drive shaft. Typically if the inner joint has wear you will get vibrations that are more speed specific but they are exaggerated on acceleration till a certain speed and then it goes away. They wear at a specific point on the shaft when at temperature. So, when cold the bearings are not in their usual place. When warm they reach said place and can wear the shaft. So the bearings lock into the wear marks and that creates a judder at certain speeds. what does it behave like on harder acceleration? In each gear?
  2. Assuming it's petrol? It could also be fuel evaporation. Is the fuel line close to exhaust, hot parts etc? It's obviously a very bespoke vehicle, and fast a I would presume. Might be worth wrapping hose in tin foil, quick and easy, see if it helps. If it does look for a permanent fix.
  3. ok, so the mastertech guy could well be right. When u start the car cold, (other readers Please correct me if I wrong here) the timing is slightly advanced until the engine warms up. Then it goes to a normal timing. This could explain why it's not doing it when cold. Maybe the timing belt is out by a tooth? other is DMF (assuming that's what's fitted) it can give similar symptoms.
  4. I have just looked at several threads on th UK-mkIVs site and 9/10 times it seems to be the sensor. One guy said use a genuine oil filter. Hope this helps
  5. She looks really straight on the outside and just run in on the inside. What a nice car. regarding the oil light, for how much a sensor would cost I would start with that first. It's amazing on more modern cars the sensors fail giving us heart attacks and the actual feature they are monitoring is just fine. Isn't a yellow light or a red light that comes on? however, in the mean time don't drive too far in her just in case it is right. You might be needing a new pump. Replacing an oil pump is cheaper than an engine.
  6. Does it make the noise in neutral, when reving the engine? Or is it just when actually driving?
  7. Mine has been wrapped for 4 years, you really need to know the difference between the facelifts to age her because of it!! does anybody know a decent vinyl wrapper up in Scotland, I would like a couple of bits redone to keep her looking good.
  8. Another vote for Uniroyal rain sport contact 3 from me too. These are the best tyres I have come across for the temperate climate we live in. When I first got the A6 it had dunlops on the rear and Pirelli on the front. It handled terribly and the back end would slide out on roundabouts while following Miss Daisy in a Micra. Put the Uniroyals on and now I could overtake Miss Daisy on the inside of said roundabout if wanted to. Best compramise on grip, longevity and price in my book. Run them on the T5 too. Have voted for Michelins though as I run the Alpins over winter, superb tyres too.👍
  9. The roads are a bit rubbish up here where I am to say the least and yes the s-line rides a little firm but being the A6 I have it's not that bad compared to a smaller car. But if your used to that in a civic it won't be any worse in an A4 for you! The longer wheelbase will help with that compared to what your used too in the civic. In my opinion mileage is not something that turns me away from cars that are as well engineered as these. The most important thing is correct oil usage and frequent enough oil changes. Get an app like TotalCarCheck, you can see the MOT history and importantly if any advisors like bushes etc where actually done or not. If not then u might need to budget for them on the next MOT. There are so many out there to choose from, be picky and go for a model you want irrespective of mileage. Then just make sure service book and receipts look as they should. regarding low mileage on a derv. I would be using a good oil and changing oil every 10-12k (ignoring long life service). Only real issue is likely to be the DPF so a forced regen by driving in a lower gear, 4th or 5th to keep the revs high for 4-5 mins will help keep the DPF clear. Good luck what whatever you do mate
  10. Hi all, So I have taken the time to read all the posts on here regarding a misfire, got excited with one of the more recent threads as Brad-B5 (think it was his user name) suggested this fault for someone else's 'judder' issue. It's a 2006 2.7 TDI. There has been several cold starts when there has been a limited throttle response when setting off, while becoming a little more frequent it always goes away quickly. Today, starts straight away as usual (lovely starter this car). Put her in D and set off and a misfire occurs, remains at idle and when selecting R. Went away after 20-30 seconds. No engine light came on which I would have expected! I will get fault codes read tomorrow (if I can it being bank holiday Monday). However, has anybody come across this before? Would genuinely appreciate any feedback to point me in the right direction as I will fix it myself and then post what I have done with the final fix, well here's hoping anyway. Dan
  11. Morning all, Have spent a good hour or two looking through posts and problems etc and I am pleasently surprised to see a high proportion of members joining for the love of the 4 circles and to look for cars etc rather than the typical new forum user, joining because they have a problem and need pointing in the right direction. While I regret to say I found the forum because I do have a fault with my A6 (hiding head in hands !!) I am happy to join what looks like a great group of people I have had a couple of Audi's over the years, A4 Avant 1.9tdi AFN, I totally rebuilt the engine in this as cylinder No.1 had piston slap. I flowed the head a little and port matched the manifold. It drove beautiful after that, constantly returning 65+MPG. Also Had a company s-line A3 2.0 TDI. Needed a new turbo at 65K. However I am a complete VAG addict. Owning in the past MkII Scirocco (wish I never sold it), still own a Mk1 1.6 GTI and a MkIV 18t GTI. And I am currently on my second T5. OK, so, I am going to post my issue with the A6 in a min but I would like to plead with other new users that have an issue with their motors to take the time to actually post the fix for their problems too. These forums are such a useful place to help people like me that enjoy fixing issues themselves and then helps others in the future. Hope that makes sense. It's obvious that the moderators and long term users reply to most posts and that is so nice to see. Anyway, hello!!
