i have done a lot of research on vcds mods for my a6 . One of the first ones was to activate visual parking aid ( mine is equipped with rears only ) . it was easy enough if you have basic understanding how to use vcds. if you need any help with this please ask :) here is how to : Visual Parking Aid - if supported[Select][76 - Park Assist][Coding - 07]Change second digit to '2'Example - Original code is 0001106 ... New code is 0201106[Do it!]Restart MMI and select reverse -

next one on the list was the pollen filter. Easy enough job. Mine was in a terrible state so i have ordered a replacement( there are 2 filters ), i went for carbon air filters as they remove dust, pollen and other contaminants from the air, but they also adsorb exhaust fumes and unpleasant odours Oem part no 4F0819439C Here is how ... -

One of the first job i wanted to do is to tide up rusty brake callipers and hub. I've spend hours cleaning them up with wire brush. then i have sanded them down with 80 and 400 grit paper. gave them a good wash with degreaser and a paint prep wipes. The key is to mask them well so there is less mess after painting. 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of red and 3 coats of clear lacquer. few months after i have changed discs as they failed MOT for Pagid -
Ive owned my a6 for 3 years and i thought i will document here all mods/fixes/problems/etc on one thread. I have lots to put on here so it will take some time but please comment/ask and advise if you know anything that i dont :) The car is great!!! Audi only made 1000 of 3.0tdi lemans and as far as i know there are around 200 left ... they produced 15 in late 2006 so there is a chance mine is one of the first ever made :) https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.autoblog.com/amp/2006/07/19/audi-commemorates-r10-tdi-win-with-a6-le-mans-edition/ It has 122k on the clock now and runs like new. It has full sline spec + le mans , ambient light, bose, storage pack, 19" lemans wheels, sport suspention, and its finished in daytona grey pearl

There is no way to turn off bulb checking . Its hardcodded to the central electrics module
-
A local car wash , next time when you go there , check as they pre spray wheels with a product... hand car wash makes their money on volume so i bet they are using acid base wheel cleaner as its quicker ! This wil cause rust quickly . Next time you are there ask them what chemicals they are using and ask to see the lables , i bet they are not ph neutral !

Looks like its a chain http://autoreplacementcosts.com/audi-a3-belt-chain-list/

A bit to far for me :(

Its a standard bolt with a washer, either audi or any hardware shop will do

I always think cheap is expensive :) but having bought budget tyres myself for my a6 quattro 6month ago i cannot see any drawback yet, they are quiet , same on mpg , i have not noticed any wear yet. I run 255/35 19" and there was over £600 price diffrence for a set of 4. Mixing tyres is ok in pairs ( front or rear) as long as you keep the same spec : size , load, etc

Scan the car for faults with vcds. Most garages can do this for a small fee
-
It will be intresting to know do you clean the car yourself ? What wheel cleaning products you use ? Or are you using a hand carwash ? Are you using the same one most of the times ? Calipers and hubs will rust in time, but not after a year

I belive it depends on the gearbox. Multitronic requires frequent oil changes, tip tronic is sealed for life . Im not sure on manual or the new Stronic
-
Quote from audi web "Your Audi's transmission fluid acts as both a lubricant and coolant to your transmission system. Wear and tear breaks down the viscosity of transmission fluid, making it less effective and potentially causing damage to other components. To make sure your gear changes remain seamless, your transmission fluid should be changed according to your service schedule every 38,000 miles."

I think dpf was introduced to meet euro emmition standard 5 and adblue to meet euro 6
-
Every diesel after 2007 have DPF regardless if it has adblue or not
-
I would avoid of the shelf boxes. Im a big fan of remaps tailored to the car done on dyno
-
As steve said There are boot protectors with a longer edge that rolls out to protect the paintwork and plastics Or vinyl wrap in clear or red :)
-
I think you need another scan with vcds or vagcom or delphi . First 2 are audi dedictated and delphi is also known to be good. Once the scan is done reset the fault codes and scan again to see if they come back . Then you will have a clear picture what is wrong . Does the car drives fine ?
