Spent 16 hours detailing the A3 at the weekend in my unit. Gave it a full machine cut with my Rupes Bigfoot, medium sponge and medium compound, then Rupes ultra-fine polish, 2 layers of Meguiars liquid wax then GTechniq C2 layers over the top. Also took the wheels off, cleaned all the underside of the arches and protected the wheels and calipers with GTechniq C5 Wheel Armour. I'm also going to have a go at spraying the fog light surrounds with Plati-dip gloss black to match the front grille.

Hi all, I spent 16 hours detailing my A3 S-Line Sportback at the weekend in my unit. Gave it a full machine cut with the Rupes Bigfoot, medium sponge and medium compound, then a full machine polish with the Rupes ultra-fine compound, 2 layers of Meguiar's liquid wax and finally a couple of coats of Gtechniq C2. I also removed the wheels, cleaned them and finished them, together with the calipers using Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour and also cleaned and protected the wheel arches too. That should protect it from the autumn and winter weather and make cleaning it much easier. A lot of hard work but definitely worth it I think. I'm also going to have a go at spraying the fog light surrounds with black plasti-dip to match the front grille. Fingers crossed it looks OK Cheers Chris

  7. Hi all, I've just purchased a 2014 A3 1.8TFSI Sportback in Daytona Grey. It's a gorgeous looking car in my opinion but I wish Audi had made the front fog light surrounds in gloss black to match the front grille. Does anyone know if these can be purchased at all please? If not then I guess I'm going to have to take them off and get them professionally sprayed instead. On that note, can the surrounds be removed from the front or will it be a bumper off job? Thanks Chris
  8. Hi Keith, I've just pruchased a 2014 plate A3 1.8TFSI Sportback with the S-Tronic gearbox and I have exactly the same problem. I don't think it's a problem as such and, like you, have come form a manual gearbox in a Saab. I also live in MK and it does worry me about pulling away at roundabouts. I've had the car for just over a week now and love it, except for this one small issue. I think it's probably a mixture of the fly-by-wire throttle and the gearbox. I'll try putting mine into manual and see if that makes a difference. Let me know if you end up purchasing one and maybe we could meet up somewhere locally. Cheers Chris
  9. Afternoon all, I've just joined the club as I've recently purchased a 2014 A3 1.8TFSI S-Line Sportback in Daytona Grey, with S-Tronic box. Really impressed with it although I'm still getting used to the throttle pedal and auto box. It seems a bit slow to pull away sometimes and you have to squeeze the throttle a fair amount to get it going. The other thing I'd like to change is the front fog light surrounds. Because the grille is in gloss black I think the fog light surrounds would look much better in gloss black too. Does anyone know if you can buy them in gloss black or would I have to get them sprayed? Also, is it possible to remove the surrounds from the front or would I have to take the bumper off? I've had a number of other Audi's over the years including an Audi 90 2.2 Quattro saloon, an A3 2.0TDi, an A4 3.0 Cabriolet Sport and an RS6 4.2! Really impressed with the mpg out of the petrol and managed 45mpg the other day on a long run, setting the cruise at around 70mph. Cheers Chris
