  1. Hello There, Thanks for your message. Its great to here that they are able to investgate the issue further than my local audi repair centre. Just to recapp what i had replaced on the vehcile New Wheel Barings front New Disk and pads front New top mounts & struts gearbox oil change New tyres I couldnt get to the bottom of the issue so i ended getting rid of the car as i couldnt get this resolved nor whom ever i took it too couldnt fine the exact problem all it was could be. it would be intrested to see what they find
  2. Hi jess, I’m afraid I never got to the bottom of it, I have vertically a new front end and still continues to have the issue. I did go ahead at have the top mounts changed at Audi but never cured there problem and they believe it may have been gearbox related however I did not want to throw anymore money at it so I decided to px towards an Audi Q5

HI All, @Dan3222 A couple of days after I re booked the car back into Audi for them to take another look, they was expecting to here a bad top strut when I took them out they herd the dreadful noise. The Audi technician sat in the passenger side and put his hands on the dashboard close to the window ( towards the top strut mounts) and could feel the vibration/rubbing/ grinding thought the dashboard. He then sat in the rear passenger then drivers rear to see if he could here/feel the noise and he couldn't which he then ruled out rear wheel Barings. He then lifted my bonnet up and put his hand over the top struts as I slowly moved and turned he could feel the vibration/rubbing but couldn't here the noise outside the car. - Audi are still confident its the top mounts/top mount baring. They said if they change the top mounts they can inspected the struts ect - they did say its not gearbox related but could understand why the previous company mentioned it. @niedzial1983 yes I had the noise before the disks and pads was changed - I was informed that the dis was warped so had it all changed. @Magnet - Well still not further at the moment as i am in two minds at the moment to get them done or not to get them done as I really don't know if you understand what I mean, as I have loads replaced and not resolved it soo im just unsure do I just risk it and have them changed hoping that will fix the issue but it comes at a cost of £600 quid - seems strange as this is the only issue they found throughout the whole car
  5. nah not at all gareth, I can understand exactly what your saying, and why this secondry check is important to ensure the correct parts are changed/looked out. as i have been advised it was possable rear baring then after check its top mounts so there gonna look at it can not ask for much more to be fair but i must admit this is a very intresting issue
  6. Hello All, Just to give everyone an update. I have spoken to the technician that looked at my car last week and he is confident that is the issue but couldn't confirm it, I have told him I am not prepared to pay £654 based on confident as I have already spent a lot of money on this issue and do not want to continue to spend replacing parts if its not going to solve my issue, Anyway the guy at Audi was alright and what he has asked if I can re drop the car down to him and I take him out to hear this noise and if it needs to go in for another diagnostic just to guarantee that is the issue he said I will not be charged for another diagnostic. So I am going to pop down there before the weekend and hopefully get this resolved and closed .

Hi All, I have requested to speak to the technician who worked on my car on Thursday last week to confirm a couple of details - Was the bad top strut found as part as the heath check or was it found as what was causing the noise. Depending on this response will depend on what my actions are next. If they are unable to confirm if this is defiantly what my issue is then I will leave it until either something breaks or gets wroser, so the issue can be identified easier. but as you can see nothing else has flagged on the heath check apart from these top struts
  8. Thanks Dan for your message. After reading magnets message it dose not make sense why they would say it was a top strut. Expecailly when i took the guy out and he indicated something on the rear drivers side. then now there saying top strut noisey when turning. but i dont know if it has any relation to the vibration i can feel through the passenger spring when turning lock to lock there is a vibration on the coil sping. When drivers side has been checked there no vibration when turning. I will attempt to try your advise at some point tomorrow hopefully. I had a bad strut on my renault megan ( i know renault) and i could only hear that when going around 50 mph you would hear it wud wud wud. But this is only when turnng and pulling off when straighening the steering wheel the noise goes away. As i mentioned everything else come up corrrectly on the dianostic & heath check i have attached the reports so everyone can see. I am either going to get the struts replaced or wait for the issue to become much worser so its easyer to diagnose/locate - its a shame that i am located so far away from you guys because you seem to have more knowlage about the cars more than garages around here Epson_08092017105529.pdf Epson_08092017213520.pdf
  9. If the Audi dealer guarantees this will eliminate the noise that is present then I'll be more than happy to have the work completed by them but I need to ask the question if it doesn't resolve the issue what then
  10. Thanks both for your messages thats what I'm more concernd of getting them repaired and it turns out not to be the issue. If I Consider getting them done I wouldn't be having them completed at Audi I would get a family member to do them for me all in would be around £100 includeing parts or I'm just going to wait untill the noise gets worser so it's Easyer to diagnose. I'm just concerned as iv spent loads already and don't want to be wasteing more money. Atlest I know for one thing the parts changed I won't be changeing them again while I own the car

Thanks Gareth for your message. yeah I do agree with your message especially regarding I hear the noise when turning and moveing off from a stand still that a rear wheel baring maybe the culpriate. Dose seem strange for them to put it down to a top mount. While it was in Audi I had them do a Heath check on the car which have all come back fine wheel barings was checked cv joints shafts engine compartment clutch operation brakes disks all come back ok apart from the top mounts noisey when turning. i have took he car everywhere I can think off and I don't know what else really I can do about it that's why I took it too Audi. as for the claiming from the dealership it was just an idea as I don't think it's fair iv spent all this money so far and I understand a few things iv bought was down to my own doing wheel baring & outer cv joints - brakes and tyres really are classed as wear & tear. as for replaceing these items i would be looking at getting them done else where as I think that price from Audi is very expensive especially for what the part is. Also I have the camera footage of the top stunt - when turning there is slight movement but when the wheel are turned and in motion u can see the top mount moveing upon down if that helps
  12. Hi Cliff Thanks for your message. I do think its very expensive rate per hour - £150 per hour x 3 = £450 - i wouldnt mind the parts only cost £98 quid. Either way i am going to have to get this work carried out howver based on the fact iv only owned the car a few months (bought in may 2017) and iv spent alot of money on various of issues which really i should have spent ( disk & pads all round - wheel barings & hub for both front wheels & Calipers - Outer CV joints & new tyres all round) so far im in for around £600/£700 quid roughly. Due to the new sales of goods act 2015 the car must be satifactory quality for atlest 6 months any issues raised during that time will deem that the car was sold like it. I riased the issue with the dealer in july ( 2 months after purchase) - I am writting the letter today and sending it 1st class recoreded and giving him 14 days to respond, if he fails then ill be looking at getting the work completed and claiming for everything back. so it would be in his best intrests to offer to pay Audi for the work or get the work completed himself at his cost. Ill keep you all updated on how it goes and once these have been changed and if that was my issue - just glad the issue has been found and can easly be fixed - glad i didnt go with having my gearbox looked at barings/oil.   13. Hi All, I have recieved my car back from Audi today and they have confirmed the fault as strut top noise when turning however they have given me a quoteation of £677 to change 2 top mounts and labour ( top mounts are £98 quid and labour is £450 - 3 hours) seems along time to change top mounts
  14. Thanks Gareth for your message. I will kick myself if it turns out to be a rear wheel barings but if It is I'll be glad that it is then we know the issue and it's an easy fix. I know it's not tyre related( Audi confirmed as speed is to slow under 5 mph) as it's had 2 new tyres on and rear disks and brakes so that eliminates them parts. So we maybe looking at barings/caliper/struts I think that's about it on the back Im just glad I didn't authorise the Audi specialists to work on my gearbox as it would have been a lot of money and still wouldn't have fixed the issue.

Hi all, just to give everyone an update. i took the car to Audi as planned and took the guy who was going to be inspecting the car and within seconds I was able replicate the noise and he has indicated it's something to do with the drivers rear side of the car but wouldn't confirm it without inspecting the car. Audi did not have any space to inspect the car that day so it's re booked for a full diagnostic next Thursday. He believes he can hear it more from the rear rather than the front end of the car so apart from wheel barings not quite sure what it could be untill next Thursday fingers crossed
