  1. with that much electronics in a modern engine bay I wouldn't advise it. I remember years back you could get away with it on most cars being careful around the coil and dizzy but nowadays I would be to worried.
  2. I had this problem with the 110 VE AFN as well. if you check the loom going to the MAF and pay close attention to where the wires go into the plug. even give them a wiggle and see if any break off. check the loom closely as you go up it there may be a break in the cable. My old silver FWD had a split in the cable which gave this problem. my old green Quattro where the wire went into the plug it had more or less fell to bits through age. I got a replacement plug and some wires from the dealer and soldered it in.
  3. If your up doing Inverness to Fort William it would be nice to take a trip over the Applecross pass its a great road but not for the novice driver. Ive had the pleasure of this road a few times but sadly no pictures as its normally involved work. Im planning on doing it with the A4 at some point in the future.
  4. Cheers Trevor. Yea it was the colour that really did it for me. I had no plans to change from the green car as I had it mechanically spot on and was on the hunt for panels. I had my S4 front bumper painted ready for fitting then my other mate asked me to go to Chesterfield to pick up the blue car with him. a few days after we got it home he bought another car and gave me first refusal on it.. I couldn't help my self due to the colour..
  5. Thanks Steve. Yea I had started with my plan on my old car, it was lowered, bigger turbo, chipped ecu, decat, egr delete, big brakes all round and mechanically it was spot on. It needed a full respray, doors, bonnet and a pair of wings... I got offered the blue one and I loved the colour. it is a lot cleaner bodily so I went for it. its a bit higher spec. its got 4 x electric windows, full leather, climate control and cruise where as the old car only had front electric windows and I had fitted the half leather from a 1.8tqs. the old car only had a middle lap belt also so with the blue one having the middle 3 point belt I liked that also. I stole the grill off it and the wheels before I sold it but it more or less went with all the mods already done. My mate bought it so hopefully hell finish it. parked next to my other mates 1.9 tdi quattro.
  6. yip first thing I do with a diesel is do the EGR delete.. Ive mainly had the older 110 AFN VE engines but yea Ive found better MPG, improved throttle response and cleaner running on every one Ive deleted the EGR on.
  7. Hi all my names James I found the forum through the facebook page. so anyway Im from central Scotland and Ive got a 1997 A4 1.9tdi quattro Avant. Ive not had it long only a few weeks. I did have a green one before but I sold to my mate after I bought this one. so plans are.. S4 xenons, S4 bumper, S4 side skirts, H&R lowering springs with S4 dampers, facelift S4 rear brakes and 312mm conversion on the front. bigger nozzles, decat, stainless steel system, EGR delete. its been chipped to 143bhp up from 110 but I need to do the clutch on it.. thats first job.. most of the bits listed above Ive already got but I need to buy new discs and pads and stuff like that and get the bumper and side skirts painted.
  8. you got an idea on what you want for these? I dont need them but I like them.....
  9. what bhp is it? do you know if its the VE or PD engine?
