    TT questions

Hi Artur. I had the same 2.0T engine in one of my other A3s with DSG box. The engine was as you would expect, faultless. Tied with that box it was the best car I've had for driving. Got a few mates that have had same engine in other VAG cars and not one fault amongst us. For piece of mind I would always look for FSH with at least a few main dealer stamps. Hope that is some help
  4. Rob you have one special gal👍
  5. Welcome Gary. Gotta say the ads are a pain but you get used to them. I can totally see why you would want one of those A7 beasts. Gotta agree with Rob on diesel option. S-line is a given for me now too. My standard A3s MMI is very comprehensive also.
  6. hi Alan best thing about a tow bar is you can use a trailer for the tip journey and keep your motors interior nice and clean.😃
  7. Hello PeterLee and welcome. Sorry to here of your issues with your A6. Perhaps you could give some more information about your cars engine and gearbox as this might help.
  8. Hi Simon and welcome. Sounds like an eye watering experience you've had so far. I don't think your stupid though. You have one hell of a machine on your hands. As with all old cars running costs with wear and tear can be extreme and this will be higher with high performance motors. Running an Audi is expensive, old or new, in one way or another. Lucky you found a local garage that's able and trustworthy. So what are you getting for the money? You have a rare 3.2 model, the car has desirability, it is putting a smile on your face when it works and the parts replaced will last for years. The drawback here sounds like the car has been used but isn't that what a car is for? Funny enough I've got one eye on a 3.2 myself though tax and insurance is an issue for me.
  9. Been thinking after reading a few posts and browsing AutoTrader. I would like to hear people's views on servicing. In 2003 the EU rules on block exemptions allowed non franchise garages to service cars keeping warranties active providing original manufactures parts are used. To myself this has not had much of an effect as I've always used Audi garages for services because I've been lucky enough to have newish Audi cars over the past 15 years. I still feel that people look for full Audi service history (fash) when buying a an older car, one that's out of manufacturers warranty. Audis are a premium brand so if a new owner is skimping on upkeep you wonder why. So is my take the correct one? When is it acceptable to use non dealer services? Should the non dealer garages be Audi specialist? Should you be worried about self servicing? I think we could do a write up on this after getting opinions together. Say an overview
  10. Power should read powder lol
  11. Yeah thanks Steve. If I remember I will try post a photo of that car. Need to ask my bro in law to send me the photos he took of her. So want her back too. Tucan yellow is a "power yellow" and a light colour to my eye. I've seen many other shades and that one in my opinion is the best shade.
  12. Thanks Neil. Yeah I've seen the new grey. That really goes nice with the black ed trim. Alloy mod suit the car too. New photos show them off much better so thanks for that. You have the 3 door model which is much better on the eye than the 5 door. All round a really nice motor so we can see why you waited. My previous car was a black ed but due to new tax rules which came in early last year I wanted to avoid the extra costs so decided not to wait for the trim. May I suggest a small amount of red on your break callipers?
  13. Hi Konrad and welcome. Yes Audi do a few different types of yellow for its A3. Not all of the shades pass through the different A3 versions though. For example the newest A3 does not offer Tucan yellow as a standard colour, this was offered as a free option on the early mk2 A3. Vagas yellow is now a standard colour on the lastest A3. So if memory serves the mk1 A3 has one standard yellow found on the S3, Mk2 has 2 standard yellows And the latest has just vagas yellow. My personal favourite is Tucan though. So I owned a mk2 A3 in Tucan yellow and it polished up really nicely. Always had nice comments from strangers about its colour so I wouldn't hesitate in getting your motor. Hope this help 👍
  14. Hi Sam and welcome. Yes chain driven engines have the advantage of normally lasting the lifetime of the engine whereas belt driven need to be changed every 5 years or 60k miles (whichever is sooner). A belt will cost to replace, if I remember it was £450 on a special deal a few years ago from Audi. That did not service which I pre paid in another special deal. That in mind do try and test drive the Audi as they really are top notch motors. hope this help 👍
  15. Dang Chris Evans has a mk1 A3 ❤️. Neil your car looks great. its a case of here's what you could of had if you'd waited for me though 😂. No black ed around when I was in the market and I wasn't waiting for one to be built. Would love to see those alloys in the sunshine too.👍 Looks like a nice improvement
