Hi guys, New to the Forum (and Audi owning). After a few VW Golf's I decided a change was needed, more so because we have a 6 month old son who is growing FAST. I picked up a Dark Blue, B6 Avant yesterday (pic attached) - 80,000 miles, some service history and the all important timing belt has been changed at 71,000 miles. It is the 2003 2.0 FSI model which I know is not the most desirable BUT I'm a practical guy, wanted something NON-turbo so that it's relatively simple. I'm not looking for speed/acceleration, more so economy and lower running costs and th ability to get involved my self. It'll be a WorkHorse more than anything. Exterior is great - no rust/scratches or dents, interior is grubby to say the least - was owned by a middle aged Electrician who must have used it as a work horse - it'll need a deep clean - lots of trim broken (arm rest/glove box/worn buttons etc). I can deal with that in time (Ebay). Asking price was £1,985 but got it for £1,500 on basis interior was messy. I feel it was a fair price. I wanted to know what you think i should look at engine-wise as most people would consider doing when they get an older second hand car for the first time? I'm thinking oil change, plugs, clean air filter and pollen filter? Should i stump up and do the coil packs as well as know that they can be problematic? MAF meter perhaps? Any other suggestions? On start up the car stutters a little and engine 'wobbles' around, but after a few revs/drive it warms up and calms down, idling well. All in all everything seems to work fine still, E/mirrors, E/Windows, Cruise Control etc. Got 41MPG crusing back to London on the M40 last night (albeit at 60-65 mph). Was expecting more like mid-30's, so pleased on the whole. Tracking out marginally, but i'll get that sorted. I'm used to a MK7 Golf company car and the brakes are sharp and responsive - this Audi feels like you have to stand on the brakes to get it to stop - is this because it's 13 years old and the car is heavier or could the pads need changing (tricky to say without seeing, I know)? No brake light on the dash. Sorry if this topic has been raised a trillion times, just getting to grips with navigating around the site. thank you in advance. E
