First off, apologies for the looooong post. I have spent approx 30 hours researching this and have found masses of conflicting threads posts and resolutions hence why I am now posting my own thread after getting seemingly nowhere. I have added my full auto scan, with Advanced ID and the Log I took yesterday as attachments to this post. Backstory: I purchased a 2007 A3 Sport with BMN PD170 lump back in March after my PD130 MK4 GOlf was written off. Other than a few niggling issues that were easily resolved (passenger door mech, ignition switch, oil level sensor, brake pad sensor etc) the car was faultless and drove perfectly. No smoke, no drivetrain issues, no electrical gremlins. It was perfect. Issues: Then, in late April, as the weather started getting warmer, air temps above 15/16 degrees C, the car starts to hesitate between 1400 & 2000 rpm. Once you've passed 2krpm, it's fine and pulls hard. Once the car is warmed up, it generally does not happen. Researching this issue there seems to be a lot of disagreement on any forum over what the problem is. Some people swear it's the DPF, others the MAF, others the EGR valve, others say it's the EGR cooler and some claim it's the DPF pressure sensor. Approx a week after the hesitation first started I got an EML. VCDS showed it was a lambda sensor issue. No problem, several hours of research later (it transpires the BMN uses an NTK sensor, not a Bocsh unit like every other VAG ever made?!?) and I got a new one fitted in under 40 minutes. Took it for a drive and no more hesitation. I put this down to the faulty o2 sensor preventing a DPF regen as its was only reading a static value. For the next couple of days, the car drove faultless again. About 3 days later, the hesitation returns (turns out the ambient temperature had been a little cooler). Logging the o2 sensor, I confirmed that it was working as it was reading the AFR values and no more error codes have been logged in the 3.5 months for the o2 sensor. At this point, the hesitation has become more of a lurching or kangarooing, again, only between 1400-2000 rpm. I have also done the following in an attempt to remedy the issue: Cleaned the MAF with electrical contact cleaner - Did not resolve the issue Cleaned the egr valve & ASV (this was horrendous inside) - Did not resolve the issue, though it was better yesterday Checked the intake connections - nothing loose or unconnected Verified the boost specified vs actual - at all measured rpm's the spec/actual are almost identical, especially in the trouble range of 1400-2000. This would rule out a boost leak as is common. Measured the MAF readings - approx 200mg/str at idle and rise to approx 450 at 2-2500 rpm - I'm not sure if this is right or not but I have had MAF issues on my old PD130 and it was noticeable through the entire rev range as a considerable lack of power - this is not happening here as I have loads of power after 2krpm. Full fluid and filter service with new fuel hoses from the filter to the hardlines to the cylinder head (perished). Logged the EGR duty, In addition to the above, I have also taken logs of the DPF and this is where I start to scratch my head as I'm just not sure what is going on here. The Particle Filter - Load Coefficient: this was at 0 for approx half of the log session, then jumped immediately to 20% and didn't budge. The Particle Filter - Carbon Mass: reads 22.23 for the entire duration of the log (20 minutes) The Carbon Mass - Learned Value: this was at -7.9 for the entire drive/log session. Would the above be indicative of the DPF differential pressure sensor being problematic? I did look at it yesterday, and it appears someone has been in there before me as the retaining bolt is missing. I've not checked to see if it's a genuine or non-genuine item, but if the above readings are symptomatic of the DPF pressure sensor, then my assumption would be that it was never adapted, or that is a cheap crap one that has failed? Does this sound right? The only error code I get is the one below: 008194 - Particulate Trap Bank 1 P2002 - 006 - Efficiency Below Threshold Again, there seems to be a few trains of thought as to what this actually applies to but generally most agree it's either DPF (differential pressure sensor) or EGR cooler. I do not suspect the EGR cooler as being at fault as the Exhaust Gas - Recirculat. (spec.) & Exhaust Gas - Recirculat. (actual) are fairly close. I have added a table below with a snapshot of the log I took yesterday. Based on further up I would suspect this code is related to the DPF pressure sensor in my case, would anyone else agree? My main theory at the moment is that the DPF is failing to regen, and at lower exhaust pressures, it's causing the hesitation. As soon I am over 2krpm, there is enough positive pressure to overcome the dpf restriction and it drives fine? My secondary theory is that the EGR tends to shut over 2k rpm, and it is the EGR flow that is causing the issue (either too much or too little recirculated gas). Though since cleaning the EGR the issue still persists and I can see the EGR duty fluctuating over 2krpm in the logs. Does anyone have any further insights or recommendations? I bought myself 2003 Audi A3 8P a few months ago, and since then, my ESP light on the cluster has been staying a bit illuminated. Anyone know what the issue might be? Can it be a blown bulb?

Hi everyone, I recently bought an a3 8p 2.0tfsi quattro 56 plate. I serviced it and put new discs and pads on. When it came to putting on the front right the discs wouldn’t fit. The guy asked me to check breakers for a carrier and a wheel hub. I bought both but it didn’t fix the job. My front brakes should have 312mm discs. The left does but the right has 282mm discs. Any help? I can’t figure out why the standard 312mm discs don’t fit. Is it the wheel hub, carrier or something else? Any help will be very much appreciated. for reference my front brakes should be: 312mm by 25mm

I've had my 2007 A3 for around 10 years. Around a year ago the remote central locking stopped working. Tried replacement batteries but no joy getting resolved. Decided not to fix it further as it still opened from inside once the ignition is switched on. More recently though, the front passenger door will not open with the rest of the doors and must be done manually from inside the car before it can be opened. The final straw is the boot. It became intermittent opening and as of the last week it has now just stopped entirely. Again, manual release does work. I tried an OBD scanner and there were no fault codes. Hope someone can offer some suggestions as I love the car but it won't pass MOT next year if I can't resolve this.

Hi guys, First gear will not engage in my 1.4tfsi 2009 A3 8P. All other gears work fine. Ive already tried the process of putting an alan key thru the holes under the gear boot, pulling the selector springs back etc and still no luck. have also tried clutch-less shifting to see if it was the clutch & still no luck. Any ideas ? Reece

Hi all I need some advice on the air con on a 2008 A3. When the car is started i get a bit of cold air for about ten minutes and then it goes warm, is this just a case of needing re-gassing or are there other things i need to check? I did read on another post about the red lights on the dash mine has the air con light on and the Econ light on is this correct? Not sure if it makes any difference. Thanks Duncan

window Audi A3 2008 8P Driver Side Window keeps clicking
Justin123 posted a topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Hi new to this page, I've tried searching round but can't find any page with the same problem. I have a 2008 Audi A3 8P, When I put the window up on the driver side it will go all the way up and then stop because the glass has reached the top but the switch continues to make a clicking noise until i press the button for it to go down lightly. Has anyone fixed this issue before and what was the solution? I'm not sure how the regulator works -

So my car has been of the road now for so long! Nearly a year. All because the transfer box has broke (literally got a hole in it, can’t be fixed) now from what I’ve learnt, they don’t make the transfer box anymore (discontinued). Now this is the second time this has happened, and I’m not sure why! So the first time it happened, I got sent a part, by a Audi specific breakers, they confirmed it was the right one... now I’m thinking, maybe it wasn’t!? And I’ve tried and tried to find out the correct part number for the transfer box that should be in my car, but no luck. Does anyone know? It’s a Audi A3 3.2 v6 8p 2004, someone must use be able to help! Thank you

Hey guys, I've been looking for a honeycomb style grille for my 2007 A3 8P Sportback and I was wondering if the one I found on eBay fits mine. It's listed for the 2009-2013 models and I just want to know if anyone knows if it fits the older models such as my 2007. https://www.ebay.com/itm/RS-Style-Mesh-Front-Hood-Grille-Glossy-Black-With-PDC-Hole-For-Audi-A3-S3-8P/272687447578?hash=item3f7d703e1a:g:854AAOSwX61ZJ5mB&vxp=mtr

Hi all, New audi owner but having a bad experience. 2 weeks into ownership and the oil pressure light came on. Mechanic said leak in the crank seal and broken chain guides so advised to replace waterpump aswell and a few other bits. Turns out the cylinder head is knackerd too. Car has been in the garage for almost 2 months now. 😢 So i am now on the lookout for a cylinder head or even a whole engine. If any one can help or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks Nayan

Hi all, My name is Hasan and I have just purchased my first ever Audi. Always been a 'Golf' man but here we are. As the title explains its an Audi A3 1.6 TDI Sport (8P). Its a 3 door 2010 model finished off in Metallic Silver with only 59k on the clock. Full Audi Service History and came complete with a full years MOT - no advisories and 1 year warranty. Happy days! Wanted to introduce myself as I'm sure you will all be seeing me on here a lot over the next few months. Will get some pictures posted once I've finished work. Also if anyone has a 3 door 8P preferably around 2009/10 model, feel free to share any pics.

Hi Guys, First of all, I'm new here and completely blue to audi's, so go easy on me. I just have a few questions before finalising my decision on a purchase of an Audi A3 or A4. Coming from the golf, I knew everything about the cars, which engines to go for, what to look out for when purchasing and how much roughly a clean model is really worth. However being completely new to Audi's, always wanting one and being in a position to purchase one, I am looking to get some questions answered. I have looked through this forum, looked for buyers guides or pointers and couldnt find anything to answer my questions. So, first of all, how much are these cars really worth? I know this is subjective, however lets say a clean example, with fsh and not a crap ton of miles, how much am I looking to pay? I have a budget from 3,5 to 5,5k, and I am looking for a clean example, preferably 06 onward however an 08 would be the perfect spot. I'd like a diesel, fuel economy is important for me. I have already read into this whole 1.9 vs 2.0 tdi's and whats wrong with the 2.0 and how its not as reliable, however after gathering all that information i am still leaning towards the 2.0 tdi 140. What should I be looking for? What big parts need replacing after certain miles? I heard the turbo needs replacing around 150k miles, so I thought to look either for a low mileage example or one that already has the big jobs done. Any problematic parts on these cars that like to go, certain sound I should be looking for? I'd like to finally buy a car that will drive me for the next few years without headaches and constant worry and taking it to the garage all the time. Difference between the 8P and the B7? I like the size of the A4 B7, and i always loved something about an estate, avant in terms of audi talk (still confusing). It might seem like a family car but I love it haha, is there certain engine codes i should avoid or look to buy? I understand that the A4 and A3 is very similar platform running the same engines? I just have all these questions in my mind, hopefully this is in the right place and im not causing chaos. Thanks in Advance, Mac. :)
