Hi everyone, I'd be so grateful for your suggestions as to what could be wrong with my car. I recently purchased a second hand Audi A5 S Line, 65 plate with 46k on the clock. On Monday driving back from work, I stalled the car and the engine wouldn't start up again for me. There was no crank at all in the engine. Managed to push the car to the side of the road, and tried the ignition a few more times and it started up again. Managed to drive it back home and switched the car off and back on again. This time it wouldn't start up at all. I left it a couple hours and it started up again normally. There are no error codes on the dashboard, and all of the lights, radio etc seem to still work. I've taken it to a local garage who can't seem to figure out what the issue is. They've tested the battery, and alternator, all seem to be fine. They've also tested the clutch switch/sensor, as it's a manual drive, and they said that it's not that either. They did say that there a quite a few errors with low voltage coming up on their diagnostic tool. But I specifically asked about the battery and they said that it wasn't the cause. This seems to only happen when the engine is warm. As it starts first time when cold. At the time of posting this the.garage said that it could be the "Key Reader" and/or electrical wiring. But that will be tomorrow's job. They also mentioned that they've tested the key, and there's no issues with that. I'm absolutely gutted about this, and I would be very grateful for any help from anyone on this forum. I'm sure you frequently receive requests like this, but I will be respectful to the moderators and not "post and run". Thank you

I got the dreaded rattle coming from the turbo. after trawling the forums I convinced myself it was the was actuator linkage. And not something more sinister.. ie something rattling in the engine. I had a rattle on deceleration <2K rpm i wasn’t in any rush to replace the turbo so bought the clip that was supposed to cure the rattle. Also I really didn’t want to remove the turbo or the exhaust pipe in order to access the area where the clip needed fitting. i squashed the clip in a vice to ensure it was a tighter fit. Then basically I attached the clip into a socket head (can’t remember the size) with a rubber band. And with a socket extension and a cheap iPhone endoscop, I was able to see and reach right up to the actuator arm linkage behind the headers and slide the clip right on. this cured the rattle but I don’t expect it to last long. Been on a couple of months now and so far so good. so just for info - this clip can be fitted without the need to remove ANYTHING EVGATSAUTO Engine Turbo Clips... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08BPGJJJM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Hi, I am new here and recently purchased a new Audi 2.0 tfsi 7 speed s-tronic 252bhp A5 Quattro. I received it in September 2017 with only 12 miles on the clock and the car was great. Around 4 weeks ago I started hearing a loud sloshing sound like the doors were full of water so I checked and they are all clear. I took it into the local Audi dealer in Hull and they told me all is dry and it is the fuel tank making the noise and that it is the fuel they could hear sloshing around very loudly. They only had one other model the same as mine that was out on a demo but once back they checked it and told me that it made the same noise from the fuel tank and it was characteristic of that model. Mine did not do this up until about 4 weeks ago so I am guessing that theirs is faulty too and that many more will be the same. The dealer is not prepared to look into this further so I am unsure what to do. If I had known a £42,000 Audi would make a noise like this I would not have even looked at it from the start. Any ideas, advice or does anyone else have the same problem? Thank you.

Hi, I’m having a few issues with my Audi A5. Firstly, anytime I start the car on a cold engine the car shakes for a few minutes 2-3 mins due to excess air build up. This is the error codes I get: P2187 - lean fuel mixture at an idle in either Bank 1 P2279 - intake air system leak I tried using fuel injector cleaners and the engine light still keeps coming back with these two codes. Anytime I reset the codes and start the engine the engine excessively shakes for around 3 minutes until I rev the air out. I think that the P2279 code is due to some air leak and I am planning to run a smoke test through the engine to detect the leak, if no leak founds I saw somewhere that I should replace the sensor. I’ve also saw a video replacing the PCV valve diaphragm could fix the issue. My valve seems fine however I read somewhere that they may look ok but still be at fault. Therefore, I have ordered one and waiting for delivery (see attached photo). Apart from these two codes popping up and the engine light going off as well as the shakes when starting a cold engine the car runs perfect. Anyone had any similar issues or know what the problem could be here?

Hi all, Have started to have an issue with the MMI control unit in my 2012 A5 (facelift model). It works fine initially then after about 10-20 minutes it freezes and the lights on the two silver buttons to the right of the large scrolling wheel flash. The controls in the steering wheel still work and the screen changes with it. I tried the three button reset, it does restart the MMI but doesn’t fix the issue. Only thing that seems to work is if I switch the car off for at least an hour. But again, it goes in about 10-20 minutes. Has anyone experienced this particular issue? Do you think replacing the MMI control module will work? any help would be greatly appreciated

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yFPyAgdveHc. hi guys I’ve just brought a 17 plate Audi A5 3.0tdi 218ps and it’s starting making a weird ticking sound coming from both sides of the engine but more from the drivers side . IMG_3094.MOV Could this be the dreaded chain tensioner failure? If so the car only has 58000 on the clock surely Audi must have to fix this as it’s a fault with the car ??? Or am I being paranoid and it’s just the injectors ? Any advice appreciated thanks !

Hi, hope you're all keeping well. I have a 2019 A5 Black Edition and I'm trying to think of some cosmetic mods to add that personal element. I currently have the following in mind: Blacked out badges/engine designation etc (the 35 TFSI badges aren't easy to find) Paint the brake calipers red or another colour (unsure if if this is a bit much for such a car - opinions?) Slightly bigger rear spoiler lip (similar to those you see on M4s but not as ostentatious) Front slitter extension lip to add more of a presence Maybe tinted rear lights? What do you all think of the above? And what else would you recommend? Cheers

Hi All! I've just acquired an A5 cabriolet with an ancient looking something or other under the armrest which is no use for anyone. Does anyone know of a minor mod or something I can do with this space to make it useful? I have bluetooth but an iphone so no wireless charging yet. Has anyone done anything like this? I've seen someone do something similar here but it's not quite the same and not a very innovative solution: Any pointers would be great! Thank you!

Hi, First time on this so apologies if I end up posting on the incorrect forum or anything but would really appreciate any help right now. The problem is in regards to my 2009 Audi A5 Coupe 2LT which I purchased a year ago and carried out a full service upon purchase. More or less for the past 8 - 9 months the car does tend to smoke when idling (sometimes worse than others i.e. at times the smoke would be heavy after 30 seconds and others itll take a while longer). During this time, i've noticed i've been topping up the oil more frequently than I feel i should, within my time of owning the car i've done around 7-8k miles. I've recently been to a garage who claim my valve stem seals are the main issue for the smoke on idle. I've done some research as to what causes the issue and the 'symptoms'. However, I just want to know how serious is this problem or can I possibly keep my car running like this for another year or so? Thanks for any help in advance

Hi Just bought an audi a5 2012 sports back. Phone connects for phone calls via Bluetooth... Great job. But I'm absolutely blown away that I can't get any music to play. For a brand like audi and the spec I got I'm actually blown away. It's a simple thing.. Even back in 2012. There's not even a aux port. Any advice? I have that odd connection in the glove box.

Hi there. Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a really confusing situation I have with my Audi A5 Cabriolet. I know moisture or condensation in headlight and tail light clusters is no new matter in cars. But with this being the tail strip LED bulb I was wondering if anyone has come across this and knows how to rectify the issue if possible? Like a permanent fix if possible? And also how to even remove this light assembly if possible to dry it out and fix? Seems minor and petty I know but with how the weather has been over this winter I'd rather try and keep it safe a bit longer off possible as this doesn't seem your average bulb jobby. Hope everyone is holding up well and staying safe during the COVID-19. A.S

Hello, first time on here so forgive me if this topic has been done before. I'm just about to sign up for a 2019 A5 Black Edition. When I viewed the car at the dealership (in daylight) I could only see ambient lighting behind the interior door handles. I know the car hasn't got the extended LED pack but what ambient lighting does it have as standard? I thought it would have some (in white) in the door cards, on the side of the centre console, in the cup holders and in footwells. Do these come on when it's dark and the headlights are on or should they be on all the time? Cheers

I am looking to test drive and buy a 2012 Black Edition Audi A5 Auto 3.0 S-Tronic. The car has done 166k on the clock which I know is high mileage but has full-service history with services every 18k at Audi dealer garage. I have been told that I should ask Audi about the chain but they say its not a serviceable part. Then others say that it should be changed with such high miles. I don't know who to believe or what the costs of a change would be. Any help appreciated or things to ask/look out for appreciated.

Hi Guys Looking for some help regarding oil leak spray on my 2010 Audi A5 1.8TFSI Engine Type CABD post PCV Valve replacement. The car was originally giving error codes P227900 Intake air system leak and P017100 Fuel Trim System too lean which looking at other forums can be due to PCV valve issues. On replacement I noticed some oil in PCV but as soon as I replaced car was noticeably smoother not hunting at all. On first drive the car had spray of oil near air filter box and line leading to it. When I removed line I noticed some oil in this and suspect it may be coming from this location . The question I have is why replacing PCV valve would cause this and is there any other oil leak points this may have generated. Ive attached Pictures. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards, Jackie
