Hi, not sure if this has been asked and answered already. My car won’t go into 2nd gear sometimes when changing up from first. Changed gear box oil, and replaced clutch. The engine light didn’t come on when it wouldn’t go into gear up until the clutch was replaced, it now comes on when it won’t go into gear occasionally since clutch has been replaced. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance

Ok had a slight snag with clutch master cylinder in that it kind of exploded. At first I thought it was the slave cylinder in till I took it out and saw it was fine. Checked master cylinder and there were loads of plastic bits in the football. Put the slave cylinder back on and replaced the master cylinder. The problem now is that the clutch doesn't have as much travel as it did before. The biting point is almost at the floor. Just about manage to change gear but reverse is a grind and thud. When I bled the system, I had major trouble getting the fluid in. I used eezibleed kit. Managed to get fluid going after pumping the clutch a bit. Actually a lot. Please someone help because I'm out of ideas now.

Hi I have an audi a4 b5 avant 1.9tdi, 2001, with 135000 miles. Whilst driving home earlier my car lost drive and coasted to a stop. I pressed the clutch pedal which was more or less on the floor and what little play there was had little resistance. I can select every gear freely with no crunching, however no drive. There is a slight noise from the clutch when a gear is selected. I have read that it could be a slave cylinder but from what I read if that went the car would be stuck in gear and or unable to select a gear. It was too dark to see if any fluid has leaked. Can anyone help?

Hi, I have a 2009 Audi S4 B8 and the clutch is slipping so i need a new one. I bought the car modified so don't know the exact mods. I know it has high torque racing pulleys on the super charger from MRC. I think MRC did a custom map on it, so i don't know if i need a stage 1 or stage 3 clutch. I do have a dyno showing about 490BHP and 400lb/ft torque. Please can someone advise me of what sort of clutches i need to be looking at as a replacement? Thanks, James.

A4 3.0 V6 Quattro - Grinding feel when pressing clutch
Whiteho2 posted a topic in Audi A4 (B6) Forum
Hello, I purchased last year a black Audi A4 3.0, V6 Quattro Cabriolet. Great car so far, one thing is really bothering me however! The clutch when pressed has a rough 'grinding' feel to it. I think its got worse over the past few months. The clutch seems to work fine, with no slippage etc and there are no noises that associate with the rough feel, but its now really ruining the drivability of the car. In addition, when the clutch is pressed and when I rev the engine, I can actively feel the revs through the clutch etc. Could this be the clutch release bearing? If so, big job or total clutch replacement. the car has the original unit and is on about 80k so far. Or could this be the DMF. I'm not quite sure what the usual symptoms of that would be however? Any advice is appreciated! -
Hi all I had my Clutch and flywheel changed last month, because my one had totally gone (severe judder) I took my car to a trusted German car (more Audi) Specialist who is also a clutch specialist as for many other things that he is. So to cut a long story short even with a new clutch and flywheel it still judders not as aggressively but still judders on take offs and there is a bit of a clunking sound. He's had a look and says the clutch is fine and more likely to be the gearbox but hes changing the clutch and flywheel for me on Friday under warranty , fingers crossed. (All parts are OEM) Any thoughts? do you agree on his outcome?

Hi all. Recently changed my clutch to a smf with which I'm happy with. The only thing is the biting point is quite high. With the old clutch which was a dmf the biting point was lower down. I know the slave cylinder is hydraulic and is self adjusting but is there anything I can do to get the biting point lower. Thanks for any advice.

hi everyone, not been on in a while I changed my clutch yesterday to a smf. after everything back on started no problem. reversed off driveway and headed down the road. there was no power. at a steady speed the whole carstarted to judder quite bad. my question is do I have to have the ecu remapped or something the only other thing I can think of is that I have pulled/broken some wire which is my next check. thanks in advance for any help Ste

Hi A3 Owners forum,, My 1st posting as I have never had any problems with my car which I have owned for 1 year. Its 3rd hand with 90 on the clock 10k of those I have done. I wanted to as anyone if they can give me an indicator or idea when you can tell if the Flywheel or Clutch needs changing. Let me say that, in 1st the car some times finds it easy to shudder , and if someone who doesn't normally drive it can stall it too. Any ideas please let me know, I think it needs both changing but I would like to find out what you all think many thanks Reuben

I bought a 2002 Audi A4 b6 avant and it has a problem with the clutch pedal, it's very difficult to get it in gear when the engine is cold, you have to put it in gear before you start the engine then when changing gears it's like changing gear without depressing the clutch pedal, the pedal is more than half way to the floor as if the return spring has broken, when stationary in gear it slightly creeps forward, and the clutch is biting right off the floor, it seems like the slave rod needs extending to get more clearance, now here's the really weird bit, when the engine has warmed up the problem is not so bad it seems like there is more clearance, I've got a lot of experience working on cars over the years but never came across something like this by the way this is a 1.9 TDI pd engined car

Hi, My A4 Avant (B8) has had a stage 1 remap which has exposed a wearing clutch. It slips intermittently in 4th gear only. Do I need a new clutch AND dual mass flywheel. Are they sold together? Any ideas on how much it will cost? Thanks in anticipation James

Hello. I own an Audi A4 Avant (manual) and I've noticed a problem when changing gear. I've read a few threads on the web but thought I'd ask you guys for some advice before I put it into the garage to be fixed. When the engine is off I can change gear ok. When the engine is running I can get it into first/second with a bit of gentle persuasion and once moving the gear changes feel a bit 'clunky'. Getting it into reverse however is a real pain but it will go in with some 'not so gentle' persuasion. There is no grinding of any of the gears whilst changing. One thing I have noticed is if I only push my clutch in half way I can change gear quite easily. I know it's hard to say exactly what's going but would appreciate some advice as I've recently moved house and don't yet have a garage I can trust and don't want to get ripped off due to my lack of mechanical knowledge.

Hi All, just become a member of the forum having bought a 2003 1.9 tdi a4 b6 estate. A few jobs that need doing, so may be asking a few questions! Thanks in advance for any help! First of which...have just bought a new Sachs clutch/dual mass flywheel kit from euro carparts. They have also sent me an alignment tool which looks slightly odd to me (see attached pic). The holes don't seem to match up with any on the DMF or clutch?!?! Has anyone had any experience with these parts or replacing them and have any useful bits of info? Thanks!!

Hi All, I have a A4 B8 3.0 TDI Quattro, It has the TPMS warning light on and Audi have said it is the Clutch Pedal Sensor. This is part of the Clutch Master Cylinder and needs replacing. Does anyone know of a DIY for this or has anyone attempted it before? I'm trying to avoid the £400 labour that Audi want to do this job. Cheers

Hello people of the forum :-) I have at the weekend become the proud owner of a rather sexy looking A4 so thought I would say hi and share a couple of pictures with you all :-) The car is a 1.9TDi (great economy, is better on fuel than my little work car - peugeot 106 1L) although it looks far from being a diesel! Being a 1st time Audi owner I can't say I know much about them, so am going by what i was told when i bought the car, and what I can spot myself. The car has: RS4 bodykit JE Designs rear spoiler Coilovers all round factory upgraded dash to include trip computer concert / bose sound system carbon door mirror covers HID headlights full stainless steel twin exhaust from the manifold KEI alloys tinted rear lights As you will see in the photos, she is 1 tasty looking car! I have a few issues that need sorting out, 1st and foremost being that the clutch is on its last legs, so will be having that and the dual mass flywheel done very soon, and have been quoted circa the £570 mark (using LUK clutch parts) if anybody knows of anywhere bristol based that can better this price please let me know. Was told that the cambelt was done around 20k ago, but there isn't any paperwork to back this up so I will probably get this done as well as a service, just to be on the safe side, have been told by someone at work that I should expect this to be around £300, does that sound about right? after the mechanical work has been done I shall then be turning my attention to its looks, the front bumper/splitter has a fair amount of damage to it from being caught on a kerb at some point, as well as a nice dent from some considerate !Removed! with a towbar. I shall probably heat the towbar dent bk out as smooth as possible, repair any cracks from the kerb damage, then the most likely option at the moment is to carbon vinyl wrap the front end (splitter and bonnet) another mod I intend on doing sooner rather than later is to retrofit cruise control on the car as i cover a fairly high number of motorway miles, and cruise control is quite an essential for me. Have seen retrofit kits on fleabay that are around the £100 price range that includes the bottom trim for the steering column, so my question is this, anybody have any experience in fitting 1 of these kits that has any advice or knows of things to look out for? My brother has also suggested that I should replace the existing climate control panel for the newer type as its much better looking, and seeing as the current panel is heavily worn on the buttons, I'm thinking this is a good idea, but have no idea as to whether this is a fairly easy task or not, or if the newer type console is even compatible or not? Quite a few questions in there I know, but thought these forums are bound to be the best place for me to get my answers :-)
