Hi All, I have an AUDI A3 1.9 e TDi Sportback 2009 73k miles, full service history and as this is my first diesel car (and first Audi) I was a little concerned when I read in the manual about the DPF becoming clogged due to 'urban driving'
I have read a lot of information regarding the lifespan of the DPF and of course the ways in which the soot particulates are 'burnt off' in both passive and active methods. Either running the car for 15-20 mins at RPM > 3k to help clear the filter etc.
Inevitably after a week of driving the car in the same manner that we did our previous petrol engine car the DPF warning light came on. As per the instructions in the manual we gave the car a good run at higher revs and yes, the warning light has gone off.
I have read in other forums about diesel owners with DPF's using a variety of additives that are used when refuelling (Wynns Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner, JLM products or even 2-stroke oil) also about people using certain brands of diesel (city diesel, V Power, BP etc) or high cetane fuels
I am keen to get feedback from the real experts (you guys, the owners) on what are the best methods for prolonging the life and cleanliness of my DPF, which additives, driving techniques, fuels to use etc
many thanks
