Hi, apologies if this is in the wrong place. I am after some help in deciding what engine to go for, petrol or diesel. I will be doing approximately 60 mile round-trip, four days a week on rural, country roads. I’m not sure whether to go for a petrol or a diesel. I have a read that the 1.5-litre 35 TFSI is a good option. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, Need to buy a new car, shortened my search all the way down to an A4. Have been asking Audi owners what they think etc, and some family members who are petrol heads. I just want to know what I should be looking out for when buying an A4, my price range is round £5k, manual, petrol and under 100kmiles. Have found some interesting results online and missed a couple good ones. Preferably 3 owners or less. Would really appreciate all the advice I can get. Thanks a bunch! Raphael.

Recently noticed a thick build up of yellow gunk under the oil cap of my audi a3 1.6 (2000) and it smells of petrol within the oil. The dip stick is clean and has no signs of mayo gunk. The car still starts up perfect with no signs of smoke and runs smooths with no over heating problems. Have a gut feeling it's head gasket but would appreciate anyone's help. Thanks.

Anyone know what the cause of all these codes? (P0345, P0346, P0365, P0011, P0014, P0021, P0300) Thank you

Hello all, New to this forum and signed up as i have been browsing through quite a bit recently. Basically, i am a Vectra owner and am now looking at buy an Audi.... a very specific one... and wondered if anybody has experience of ownership of one and if they are troublesome or not? The one i want to buy is the 2006 A4 2.0 TFSI SLine Quattro 'Special Edition'. I have read that the special edition has 20bhp increase over the 'regular' one. i.e 217 over 197. So my question is: is the 20bhp increase via a bigger turbo or more? and is the result lots more lag in the special edition over the others? Ultimately i am trying to work our if it is worth spending more on the special edition over the 'standard' edition?!? Does anybody in this forum own this model who is willing to share their ownership experience? Also, i want the Quattro drivetrain purely for the winter days. I will be looking at a second hand car with around 80k miles. I know all the usual checks for cars but not any specific common faults on this model of audi so can anyone else point me to any potential danger areas with these cars? Thanks

Hi all. I'm new to the Forum as I'm about to take the plunge on an A4 Cabrio. I had an S2000 until fairly recently and I'm missing that rag top vibe, but having a family now means a replacement has to have 4 seats! So, I think I've come up with the "right answer" for me... I think Petrol as I have heard of too many problems with VAG TDi engines (from friends who have had big bills and from online forums too) - injectors, water pumps, DPFs, etc etc and as the car would be a keeper, I just want it to be as risk-free as any second hand car could be. IN the case of a petrol, it would have to be the 2.0 TFSI as it offers the best compromise between performance and frugality. Transmission wise, I'm split. I'd quite like an auto, mainly for convenience and the fact it's much more of a cruiser than a GT (with paddles as I perceive them to be more "fun") but again I've heard lots of bad things about the Multitronic box reliability wise. I think the consensus is that they don't have as many issues with the TFSI due to the lower torque output of that engine and that if it has been serviced properly then it should be ok anyway. The car I'm looking at is an 09 plate with 42K miles and a FASH, so hopefully a test drive, a look at the books and a couple of phone calls to Audi should de-risk it as much as I can. I'm more than happy for people to pick my argument apart. I'm looking for either reassurance that I've made sound decisions, or the fact I've been an idiot... Thanks in advance!
