  1. Hi all, I have just had the head gasket done on my a6 c7 and when I started driving it again I noticed that when you floor the accelerator it drops to fourth gear and the revs will go to about 4000rpm before shifting which it never done before, in manual mode it shifts no problem, the battery was disconnected for around a week also, will it just take time for the car to relearn the shift pattern or is this another problem?
  2. The mechatronic has been changed and now yesterday I got the same error that is gearbox malfunction. The car is in gear but does not move. I have to turn car off to get it working again. Engine light is there on dash. Audi A3 2013 stronic

  5. Hi all I recently bought a 2008 Audi A6 2.0 TDI Sline Automatic transmission (7 gear). This is my first Audi and my dream car actually, but it has a problem. When I park the car and put the gear into the P mode, the gear is stuck in the park mode. When I want to drive it again, I need to reset it from a hole, just under the ashtray. In someone else's words, 'If your car is stuck in park and won't shift out, ... look under the ashtray and you'll see a hole, into which you can stick something to disengage the lock (white button) that prevents the car from going into drive when it's in park.' By the way, It is stuck 5 in 10 times. The problem does not exist all the time. I do not know any mechanics around here and I am not good at understanding car problems. I will go to a local garage this Wednesday, but I do not know them. May I ask if anyone had a similar problem before? I will be very happy if you give me an idea about how much it will probably cost. Looking forward to hearing from you very soon. Many thanks, Lut
  6. Hello – I am hoping for some help as I am new to Audis and I’ve recently purchased an automatic 2004 A3 S-Line 2.0 diesel with 150,000 miles. The main issue I have when the car is in automatic mode and I am trying to accelerate when I’m already going fairly fast. To add some context to that. I drive on the motorway to get to work and I only really notice the issue during this time. Generally it’ll happen if I’m already in the highest gear and need to overtake or attempt to change lane which requires some level of acceleration. Instead of accelerating, the car just revs but there’s no power. The car does feel like it’s changing gear but it sounds very sporadic. I’m no expert but I understand the kickdown should ensure that the car is in the correct gear to cope with the sudden acceleration? Whatever speed I’m doing at the time doesn’t increase and if I don’t keep my foot flat on the accelerator the car starts to lose power. But by doing so the car is then at maximum revs. Worryingly, it’s not temporary either. I need to stop the car and switch off the engine before it seems to stop. I’ve tried switching the car to manual and using the paddles to change down a gear or 2 but this does nothing. The display shows the gears going down but the engine doesn’t behave in a way that would suggest it’s actually doing anything, it just keeps revving excessively. As I’ve mentioned. The only way to stop it happening is to stop the car completely and turn the engine off. This doesn’t happen every time (thankfully) but as you can imagine, once is enough during rush hour on the M3! I plan to take it to a garage but I wondered if anyone has experience anything like this before and what the potential cause could be. It would be helpful to be armed with some knowledge ahead of any trip the mechanic. This is my first time posting so I hope I've given enough detail on the issue Thanks in advance.

  8. Hi, I am a new member. I have been looking endlessly for a gear box for my Audi A6 Sline 2.0 TDI Diesel (Automatic). My VIN code is WAUZZZ4FX7N126957 Can anybody assist please. Thanks Rio
  9. Hello, This is my first post on the forum, I did a quick search but couldn't find what I was looking for, sorry if this has already been covered. After doing my research, the best car for me, is a 2005-2008 A6 (C6) Avant 3.0 TDI Quattro. I do mixed driving, covering city, motorway, dual carriageway and the twisty windy country B roads. I’ve always been a manual driver (love having that extra control) but for this particular car, will I have to change my ways and opt for an auto? I don’t mind autos, both have their pros and cons… but would the knowledgeable Audi drivers please step forward with some advice. I understand I’m looking for the ‘older model’ therefore my main concern is not necessarily about handling or mpg...I’m more interested in maintenance and reliability. Which one has the least problems, which is more reliable, manual or automatic and why? I look forward to hearing from those in the know.
  10. Hello. I have a 58 plate Audi A3 1.8 automatic. It's making a grinding noise as I'm driving. Audi have taken a sample of the gearbox oil and found metal shavings in it. Their solution is a £4000 odd gearbox change. The car has been very well driven and has only done 24,000 miles. It's not under any warranty. Any advice - surely this can't be right....
  11. Hi I have an old LHD A4 Avant 1.8T with automatic gearbox (originally German registered) which I want to register in the UK. In order to do so I need the speedo to show MPH. I think the simple solution will be to replace the instrument cluster. The part number on the existing cluster is 8D0 919 861 C. I assume this denotes a unit with a speedometer displaying KPH. Does anyone know how I can find out what the equivalent part number for a unit with a speedo displaying MPH would be? Thanks in advance
