Hi all. I'm new here, in hope of helping me understand some of the frustrating things my car does. It's by far the nicest car I've owned, it's fast, comfortable and well looked after BUT man its quirks send me round the bend sometimes. Really grateful for any advice anyone can give.. Most pressing issue is the failing central locking, I now have two doors which will not unlock with the key fob, they will - once opened manually from inside - however - lock with the fob, so it seems the mechanisms do work, at least in one direction. I've done a bit of digging around in the forum and it seems this is a common Audi of a certain age issue?.. there's mention of cleaning the motor armitures in those particular doors and I'm going to give that a go, is this something anyone here's done and did it work? did you need any specific tools? did you regret it and end up taking it to a garage and it costing a fortune? Is there anyting I should check before taking things apart? Many thanks Pat

I've had my 2007 A3 for around 10 years. Around a year ago the remote central locking stopped working. Tried replacement batteries but no joy getting resolved. Decided not to fix it further as it still opened from inside once the ignition is switched on. More recently though, the front passenger door will not open with the rest of the doors and must be done manually from inside the car before it can be opened. The final straw is the boot. It became intermittent opening and as of the last week it has now just stopped entirely. Again, manual release does work. I tried an OBD scanner and there were no fault codes. Hope someone can offer some suggestions as I love the car but it won't pass MOT next year if I can't resolve this.

I have an Audi A3 TFSI 2.0 cabriolet, last week the central locking and car door lock both stopped working at the same time. The door lock just spins around. Anyone know why this would be? I've replaced the key battery and have attempted to reprogram the key but nothing has resolved it. Would it be an easy job to just replace the key barrel? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi, new here, searched everywhere for info on central locking on my A8L 2.8 W reg automatic. It's worked perfect no problems ever. Then got up in the morning and it doesn't work off the fob or from the drivers door lock The boot opens on the fob still, and the alarm activates off the fob still. I've noticed on the dash where it shows the doors open in red, that the passenger front and rear don't show as open when they are. If the front passenger door is open on its own, the interior light flashes on and off smoothly, not like a strobe. Is this going to be a cheap easy fix or shall I just manually unlock the doors lol Thanks in advance everyone

central locking Passenger Right Door Locking Problems
Bengalisama posted a topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Dear Audi Forum Members; Thank you for reading my post. I am a complete beginner, I barely know the layman version of what I need to buy and take to the garage to fix. Please be kind to my description of the symptoms of my vehicle. I have an Audi A3, 2005/2006 Model. Initially, when I use the key fob to unlock the vehicle, my right passenger side door did not open. For some reason, I would use the key fob a number of times and it was jammed. Then after a few weeks, when I use the fob, the same door won't lock. I can hear a whirring noise but every door beside this one would lock. I have to press the button a good 10x and hope it made a sudden locking noise and then I would check if it had locked. If this fails, then I would have to wait in the car, turn the car on, wait 5 minutes and rinse and repeat for the door to lock. A new symptom is when I am in the vehicle, and I press the fob to lock when I am inside, pressing it a number of times, turns the light off and also the actual switch for locking all the doors on my driver's side of the door. Hoping someone could advise, what it could be. I have already called an electrician, and they said its £50 just to look at the car without even diagnosing the problem. Please Help. Thank you Bengalisama -
I have recently purchased a brand new A6 Avant. I want to set the central locking to 1 click all doors open which I thought I could do from the MMI. This turns out not to be the case as this is only available on non UK models. Spoke to the Audi garage and they say a fix is not available. Has anyone else resolved this issue?

Hi, I purchased my A3 second hand no more than a week ago, I received three keys with the car, all are meant to have the ability to lock unlock and open the boot remotely. Unfortunately after testing them, although all the keys unlock the door manually and are able to start the car, only one of the keys is able to use the remote features. I have tried various reprogramming techniques but have been unable to fix the issue, does anyone know of anyway to go about fixing this? It would also seem that the key that works is in fact a replacement key that was received in 2013 and the two others were the keys the car originally came with. Thanks in advance, - Tom

Just purchased a 2nd hand Audi through a private seller, its 2009 , 1.9tdi model fitted with the DPF. Having some problems with the electrics, the central locking it works sometimes and then sometimes i have to open with the key, when i purchased the car the seller told me that it was on some sort of child lock. But since buying it with the key fob sometimes the drivers side will open but other times not, and also the boot selection does not work on fob, and passengers door will only open once in the car and you press the button on the drivers side door. This does not always work, sometimes i have to open the door using the inside handle of the passenger door. Has any other Audi A3 owners experienced this issue, is it just a case of changing settings, im going to try the battery on the key fob incase this is causing it but any comments gratefully recieved.
