  1. Hi, apologies for the length but want to be detailed. I have a 2014 2.0tdi at 94k and am experiencing white smoke from the exhaust when the car is up to temp (after approx 5 mins of driving) I’m loosing coolant, topping up prob every 7-10 days) No hesitation starting, no distinct loss of power, no engine mgt lights on. No mayo in the oil filler cap and no visible leaks that I can see anyway. I booked it in with my mechanic and he stated there was nothing that points to a head gasket issue and had a chat with a vag friend who said it could be an issue with the inlet manifold, egr and or egr cooler but that would be a process of elimination after the car is dismantled kind of thing. any clues yet?? I went online (like you do) and someone mentioned to check a fuse in the battery fuse compartment. Couldn’t see anything blown on the small removable fuses. On my way back in after a short drive my fan kicked in (this used to happen all the time and after-run but haven’t heard this for some time coming to think of it) anyway, shortly after my particulate filter light appeared. Normally I’d just take it out on the motorway to clear this but feel less inclined to do so while the car is poorly) No lights on the dash before the dpf light, no limp mode, no hesitation on startup or acceleration, no smoke on startup, no mayo in oil cap at a bit of a loss. Really really hoping someone very clever recognises the above and says ‘I know exactly what this’ and hope that’s not just wishful thinking. over to you guys….my 160k miles 8P seemed like a tank compared this 8V Thank you so much for reading this far and racking your brains over this, eternally grateful 🙏

I have an Audi A6 S-line 2.0TDI 177 2013 (c7) - Multitronic Gearbox For the past year or so you can see smoke bellowing out from under the bonnet from the engine bay and you get this awful smell in the cabin (exhaust fumes, burning oil smell). The smoke is coming from the back of the engine to the left (as you are looking at it). The engine bay on this side is covered in black soot This only happens when the DPF starts to regen in traffic or after doing a couple of short journeys. I have replaced part no 03L131521 JV200 (EGR Connection Pipe) as I thought it was this but the smoke keeps on coming. Coolant and Oil levels remain the same. I don’t have any lights on my dashboard either. I can tell the car is doing the DPF regen when I get the smell and see the smoke and the car starts to use a bit more fuel. The car runs fine, isnt down on power etc etc. Exhaust flow is OK. No visible oil leaks either. Has anyone had anything similar?
  3. Hey, i recently picked up a 2008 A6 estate. The car has been running immaculately well for its age and mileage. However i have recieved the dreaded EML, the code is the P0405 code. This relates to the EGR sensor. This is causing the ECU to not know how open or closed the egr valve is and its giving me intermittent loss of power when trying to accelerate. I am getting the car remapped to bypass the EGR, this should solve the problem, but i wanted to know wether i would also need to blank it off? I have the 2.0TDI 140 Thank you.
  4. Hello everyone, Can anyone help me with this area in which I am very inexperienced? I am a complete newbie and have just begun to sort out with Ross-Tech help some problems with my 2006/7 A4 2.0 Avant TDi Diesel Auto. I have had an EGR delete installed and a re-mapped ECU to suit a year or so ago. Apart from that no other modifications. I now live in France and recently I had a MAF sensor fault so I replaced the sensor and all seemed well at first after a French garage reinstated the default settings and I have had a series of loss of power events plus much smoke from the exhaust varying from black to white. I had the car off the road for months, wrecked the battery and replaced it with a new one I bought and used the latest Ross-Tec VCDS Hex V2 cable connection and ran the tests with the latest Ross-Tech software. I was advised to re-test after deleting all the error codes many of which related to poor electrical voltage or inability to communicate. I did delete the codes and ran a new sequence of tests which gave apparent good results. However I have still not licked the problem and I suspect that the EGR delete has not been re-mapped but I don't know how to check that. Can any of you wizards suggest a solution?   5. Good day all. I currently drive an A6 2003 1.9 tdi, a ltd edition run out model, bought it at 97k and now has 227k and shows no sign of giving up, but still having original clutch,turbo,exhaust,dpf,egr and due a belt change at 240k , plus an urge for something nicer , its time to go. Would ideally like an A7, its a vehicle i’d intend keeping long term , currently I do 15-20k a year. Split 70/30 in favour of long runs . I’ve driven a few and for my needs the 204ps stronic seems ideal, though certainly not adverse to a bit more power. seems to be plenty of choice out there, I don’t need a pristine example ( the car is to be used not pampered, but that does not mean abused) plenty of opinions on gearboxes , egr, dpf on line. Seen a few 2012-2014 examples i like. Which vary from 15k private to 25k main dealer. Given you can check mot history for mileage am i better off going for a vehicle that has covered 15k a year over one that has done 5k in its mot history? This in respect to dpf,egr. On the stronic it seems the gearbox services are pretty crucial, yet most cars out of main dealer network have missed them and even some main dealer cars have not had them , though when queried each dealer has said they’ll do it before collection and give written assurance it won’t affect their or additional warranty (should i choose to purchase an extension) Effectively I’m looking at 26k ish from a dealer with 3 year warranty for a 2014 or around 15k for a private deal on a 2012. Which leaves a big chunk (and no need for finance) to deal with a few issues. Which way would you go with real world experience and am i expecting too much for the car to go on to around 200k?
  6. Hi all Audiers. Had this car for a while now and really enjoying it but it started going into limp mode the other day and I suspect the EGR valve being temperamental. Can someone help me properly diagnose and possibly find a solution? I would not like to replace EGR if is not aboslutely necessary. If there is any other information I can provide, please let me know. Also, sorry if I have posted in the wrong place but search returned nothing on EGR keyword. Many thanks. Please see logs below:

  8. Hi i am new to the world of audi , coming from a seat leon (different worlds). I have a 2004 audi a4 2.0 fsi and i noticed a blow starting to come from the exhaust , now gwrting louder . i had a look near the rear of the block just after the first catalytic converter there is a small diameter pipe that comes from the exhaust and goes off somewhere within the engine bay . have seen that this is called the egr connecting pipe my problem is i cant find any listed anywhere for the petrol fsi (non turbo) engine , most are for the tdi variant or the 1.8 turbo . Can any one nudge me in the right direction or shed some light to a possible fix please . love the car and with this sorted would be an awesome machine i can appreciate. Thanks people!
  9. So the picture is my BKD engine on an Audi A3 2L TDI 103kw and I was wondering what I need to do an EGR delete? What parts do I need? What do I removed from the engine?
