  1. I have an Audi A6 S-line 2.0TDI 177 2013 (c7) - Multitronic Gearbox For the past year or so you can see smoke bellowing out from under the bonnet from the engine bay and you get this awful smell in the cabin (exhaust fumes, burning oil smell). The smoke is coming from the back of the engine to the left (as you are looking at it). The engine bay on this side is covered in black soot This only happens when the DPF starts to regen in traffic or after doing a couple of short journeys. I have replaced part no 03L131521 JV200 (EGR Connection Pipe) as I thought it was this but the smoke keeps on coming. Coolant and Oil levels remain the same. I don’t have any lights on my dashboard either. I can tell the car is doing the DPF regen when I get the smell and see the smoke and the car starts to use a bit more fuel. The car runs fine, isnt down on power etc etc. Exhaust flow is OK. No visible oil leaks either. Has anyone had anything similar?
  2. Hey, i recently picked up a 2008 A6 estate. The car has been running immaculately well for its age and mileage. However i have recieved the dreaded EML, the code is the P0405 code. This relates to the EGR sensor. This is causing the ECU to not know how open or closed the egr valve is and its giving me intermittent loss of power when trying to accelerate. I am getting the car remapped to bypass the EGR, this should solve the problem, but i wanted to know wether i would also need to blank it off? I have the 2.0TDI 140 Thank you.

Hi, I have an Audi A4, B8, Multitronic, 2.0 TDI and it has developed some symptoms: - increased fuel consumption (poor mpg) - slight engine shaking but become worse when I switch off the engine (the whole car shakes a lot more on the moment between pressing the key to switch off until the engine dies completely) - a while back I've noticed that for the first time on the day the car won't start at first attempt but at the second. Now, it will not start after 3-5 attempts. I press the key, the engine cranks but just when it's about to fire, it dies like something it's not there, like the fuel just ran out. When it won't start, the cranking time is the same as when it does start, the car does not crank longer. It will happen only when I use the car for the first time on that day after which the car will start at first attempt perfectly fine every time until next day. Battery is new/good and it's summer at the moment. There are no fault codes on VCDS. However, after my research, I think there is an issue with either MAF sensor or EGR (or both). I have attached 2 screenshots from VCDS with engine at idle, do these values look abnormal? Thank you, George
  4. Evening, Hoping someone can offer their expertise and experience in the following re EGR valve location on 2010 1.6 TDI A3 sportback (8PA). Coil light came on a few days ago, OBDII shows p403 code. I do not want to delete the EGR but rather attempt clean of existing unit for carb build up. I have struggled finding any YouTube videos or forum/other guidance on exactly where the EGR is on my particular engine. From my reading on the subject, some engines provide easy access to EGR at front of engine whilst others are much harder to get to at the back and involve extensive labour / involve also replacing other related parts (egr cooler etc). Can one of you experienced folk help with regards to where the EGR is on my engine so I can determine whether it is possible to remove and clean myself (picture attached). Hoping this will help others also as I have spent hours looking for info/forum threads that answer this specifically. Thanks in advance, Leo
  5. Hi, I wonder if anyone could advise me regarding the attached video? I'm extremely new here and would like some advice. My Audi A6 2.7TDi has developed a loud ticking on and off during idle, the video shows two items simultaneously activating on and off continuously. I think these are the control unit for the turbo, and the other perhaps related to the exhaust gas recirculation sensor? This noise / action continues for a short time after the ignition is turned off. If anyone has any ideas on what is possibly causing this, I would be grateful for your input. IMG_0789.MOV
  6. Hi . Just a quick one . Before forking out on getting vcds reading I thought I'd try you lovely people . 2.0tdi 170 has destroyed 2 egr valves. And throws p0406 sensor a too high . When maf is unplugged it runs fine without p0406. When maf is plugged (also tried a new maf) the revs become eratic and throws p2108 throttle body.. also loud clicking coming from egr throttle body area when car is turned off after drive. Any pointers would be much appreciated as It's just failed it's test because of eml being on . Sozz if this has been covered before .. ps the previous owner for some ridiculous reason put an induction kit on it .. so no original air box.. any pointers appreciated. Thanks
  7. Hello all. I have just purchased a TT TDI 2009. The management light appeared after a few miles drive. The garage i purchased it from is trying to sort this issue but i would like some pointers if i may. Mass air flow code appears on testers unit. Light appeared. So sensor on the air intake was unplugged and put back on. Light was reset by tester. Light reappeared. so Sensor was replaced with new unit. Light reappeared. so intake on egr valve was blocked. ( looks like a new egr valve has been fitted recently) light reset. Light reappeared after about 20-30 mins driving. Any ideas as to what this may be? thanks.
