  1. Hi everyone, I'd be so grateful for your suggestions as to what could be wrong with my car. I recently purchased a second hand Audi A5 S Line, 65 plate with 46k on the clock. On Monday driving back from work, I stalled the car and the engine wouldn't start up again for me. There was no crank at all in the engine. Managed to push the car to the side of the road, and tried the ignition a few more times and it started up again. Managed to drive it back home and switched the car off and back on again. This time it wouldn't start up at all. I left it a couple hours and it started up again normally. There are no error codes on the dashboard, and all of the lights, radio etc seem to still work. I've taken it to a local garage who can't seem to figure out what the issue is. They've tested the battery, and alternator, all seem to be fine. They've also tested the clutch switch/sensor, as it's a manual drive, and they said that it's not that either. They did say that there a quite a few errors with low voltage coming up on their diagnostic tool. But I specifically asked about the battery and they said that it wasn't the cause. This seems to only happen when the engine is warm. As it starts first time when cold. At the time of posting this the.garage said that it could be the "Key Reader" and/or electrical wiring. But that will be tomorrow's job. They also mentioned that they've tested the key, and there's no issues with that. I'm absolutely gutted about this, and I would be very grateful for any help from anyone on this forum. I'm sure you frequently receive requests like this, but I will be respectful to the moderators and not "post and run". Thank you
  2. Hello everyone, Just after some advice. CJCB engine No Faults Crank, No start issue Ling story short, it started but after third attempt to start is just cut out and now no starting at all. Vcds - No fault Crank speed 250-300 rpm Pressure on rail is a bit bouncing. Questions: What should be fuel pressure after fuel filter, ? HPFP ? No shavings in HFPF. Battery OK,

Hi, I have an Audi A4, B8, Multitronic, 2.0 TDI and it has developed some symptoms: - increased fuel consumption (poor mpg) - slight engine shaking but become worse when I switch off the engine (the whole car shakes a lot more on the moment between pressing the key to switch off until the engine dies completely) - a while back I've noticed that for the first time on the day the car won't start at first attempt but at the second. Now, it will not start after 3-5 attempts. I press the key, the engine cranks but just when it's about to fire, it dies like something it's not there, like the fuel just ran out. When it won't start, the cranking time is the same as when it does start, the car does not crank longer. It will happen only when I use the car for the first time on that day after which the car will start at first attempt perfectly fine every time until next day. Battery is new/good and it's summer at the moment. There are no fault codes on VCDS. However, after my research, I think there is an issue with either MAF sensor or EGR (or both). I have attached 2 screenshots from VCDS with engine at idle, do these values look abnormal? Thank you, George
  4. Hi Everyone ! I have bought an Audi A3 8p 2L TDI (170 HP) STOCK 2005 with 120k miles, engine code BMN. After a month of using it with no problems I go a map for 200 HP installed. However, the next morning after the map was installed the car had problems starting, however, it started. After that the car would randomly cut out while town driving or very soon after starting the car. Although if I made it to the motorway I would have no problems. Sometimes when it cuts out it wouldn't start up again until I have waited for around 10-20 mins then it would start with no problem or some times it wouldn't start for a day or two and then it would start after many attempts. To the extent of my testing once I have driven it for about 20 mins it wouldn't cut out as long as I don't turn the car off and let it sit for around half a day. If I let it sit for 1, 2 or even 3 hours it normally would start maybe with a bit of a difficulty and wouldn't cut out. I have been to the mechanic 3 times. First time they said they got an error code saying the common rail is faulty. So they replaced it. no change.... then I had service due, so I got all the filters etc replaced. They noticed there was oil in the fuel pump system, so they changed the fuel filer twice to clean it a little bit.... No change. Then at the third visit they said that the low pressure fuel pump is not working and that the seal around the high pressure fuel pump is bad and that's why there was oil residue in the fuel system. So they fixed that and changed the fuel filter again.... no change. At this point I have spent around 700GBP and nothing has changed. I have read articles with similar problems and in few they refer to relays and the ECU. Does anyone have any ideas where I should start looking ? Or what I should tell the mechanic to look at ? Also, should I maybe find a different mechanic ;P Thank you and any comments would be much appreciated !!!
  5. Hello I have a 3.0 tdi 2007 avant and every time it gets cold (i.e. winter) the ignition key does everything except crank the engine. If I don't put my foot on the clutch pedal i get the usual info. The glow plug lights etc all do their usual thing. Only after many attempts does it finally crank and start. And so far according to Audi there are NO faults stored. Any ideas …. this is the third year now and it is getting worse
