Hi - I've just purchased an ex-demonstrator A5 and I'm interested in how common my experience is. Basically, when viewing and test driving the car, the sales guy mentioned the £450 tax band for cars over £40k but said mine didn't hit that limit so my tax would be £145. When I went to pick up the car however, he'd 'discovered' that the options took the £38k car into the higher tax band and I'd actually have to pay £450 on the day. I wasn't exactly going to walk away at that point, but I might have chosen differently if I'd known about it earlier. Anyone else had a similar experience? I find it difficult to believe a salesman woudn't know the value of his car! -
Hey all, As you may know that the law is changing on the 1st of April with car tax and new car's will be affected by this, some paying hundred's or even thousand's more (after 1st of April) than when a new car is bought now (Before 1st of April). I want to know your thought's on this and if you're going to benefit from the change (pay less road tax) or worse off. NOTE: The change will affect anyone buying a new car from April this year. 2016 December a bit angry. I saw saw on the news recently the government increased all insurence company's rates in my case subject my interest is car. I've received an intial email quote form confused.com of £1073 that's almost a £300 increase on last year (my circumstances have not changed) abosulute rip off. This is just another cynical stealth tax on the motorists as if we do not pay enough. I will eventually start looking for quotes myself to see if I can get a better deal. (I'm over 25, no points, no incidents, have maximum no Cliams, reside London, Audi 2 litre tfsi Quattro, everything perfect) Rant over. Recievied
