Mark-Putey
Hi A few months ago I needed a new battery. This was easily replaced. However I now find I've lost half the functions available eg the ride height. The car will still lower at speed but only automatically I no longer have any control over this. My trusted mechanic tells me it might have been due the the way the battery was changed and I'll need to get Audi to give (sell) me a new code to reset it. Does anyone here have any experience of this ?
Steve Q
Hi Mark your mechanic is right, the battery will need coding to the car. Audi can do this or I believe it can be done if you or a friend has vag com. To be fair though, Audi shouldn't charge you too much for this. Sorry I can't help more Cheers :) Steve
Mark-Putey
I've just been called by an Audi mechanic who tells me to disconnect the battery again (negative) wait 2 mins (without keys in ignition) then try and reconnect it without causing a spike and the system should have reset. He says the code is only for the radio and my radio doesn't have a problem. I asked him how to reconnect without causing a spike and he said touch the connection back on the battery and if you see sparks disconnect and try again, after a couple of attempts it won't spark and all will be good. This sounds a little odd to me, but maybe worth a try.
Steve Q
Deffo worth a try but I thought the battery needed coding. Cheers Steve
niedzial1983
There should be a code on the battery . Also codding is for battery regulator and power managment system so it knows the size voltage etc. Did you replace like for like ?
Ethan_123
Have you solved the problem?I wonder if the code could control otherthings besides radio and battery
Mark-Putey
I replaced the battery with the one recommended for this model. I didn't notice any codes on the battery. and I don't know where these would need to be set on the car. There is no option I can see on the MMI for battery code entry. I've booked it in at Jack Barclay (HROwen) tomorrow so hopefully will have some sort of official explanation soon ...
